I do ride the twisties, and owned 2 other 14's ('06 & '08). I haven't really got on it yet, but can confirm that it feels a lot more agile. The suspension is still on stock settings, and feels well planted in long sweepers. It changes direction well in the tighter stuff and I was dragging toe sliders on my first spirited canyon ride.

It is easy to ride around town. Easy u turns, throttle is not twitchy down low, and haven't had a missed shift or had an off start stall yet. Once you twist the throttle and hit the mid range it comes alive. Grn14 has gone over all that so I won't beat it to death.

I pulled the throttle plates on my '06 and it made it a whole new bike. I can feel from the low end that pulling these would wake this motor up even more too, but it is such a smooth motor, I am hesitant to do it.

I sold my '08 about a year ago, so I didn't exactly "upgrade." I was in the market for a new bike, so the price was not a problem. All bikes that I would consider were in the same price range or more. Would I sell a 2010/11 just to have the new and improved? Probably not, especially if I still owed money, because you will take a hit. I do like the subtle styling improvements (I know that is subjective), improved comfort, improved suspension, solid motor, perfect clutch, seamless traction control (WAY better than my Ducati's), lighter feel, improved cam chain, etc., so if I still had my '06 with a lot of miles I probably would step up, but that is just me. Not putting down the '06 at all. By the time I sold my '06 and finished modding it, it felt as fast down low as the new one, but just for reliability, comfort, and that extra mid-top end punch I would step up.

What up, fellas?

Been reading the 14R discussions for a month and truly enjoy them. Hilariously entertaining. Just for the record - I will be buying a 14R in 2013. Got a 07 ZX-14 and absolutely love it. The 14R has significant upgrades that I can't let pass me by. The bike may not be perfect but neither am I. I will never ride it to "it's" limit. Never will be talented enough. Always someone faster in the twisties and I am COOL with that. Keeps me humble when I think I'm rippin' it up. lol

Grn, thanks for the positive thread. Didn't really care for the other one. Kinda' effs up my mood.

Look forward to choppin it up with you kats in the future. Keep ridin' and keep smilin'. Stress kills.

Just bumping this thread title to the top. Guess it's where conversation for those who have figured out literbikes and 600's turn better but may not be great for longer than 30min stints. Don't know why if a literbike or 600 is so much better, the relavant conversations aren't done in their respective forum. Oh, guess there are other reasons...

I got a 2010 GSXR750 in the garage for the days I feel like carving up some roads on a very light flickable bike. I must say it handles amazing.

I did not buy either of my 14s for that although I must say that my 2007 14 was a very solid performer as well. I can't wait to try my new one.

Greg - your 750 is definitely the weapon of choice for the real tight stuff, or racetrack. The 14R will not let you down though in the fun department. Don't really need to explain that to you since you have an '07. The new one just feels a little more planted, I'm sure due to the reworked suspension.

You guys with the 14R enjoy,If I could afford the bike and a divorce I'd get one LOL!!! My wife would kill me!!! they're selling like wild fire around here SW Virginia. Really want one but priorities kid in college, mortgage, Staying married. Actually going to be taking my buddy to pick one up on Wed. He doesn't have a truck, So I volunteered for him. Think I'm gonna wait a few years, let all you guys figure out what works and what doesn't how to get the most power out of one which mods are good and sort out the traction control. My 08 still scares the heck out of me sometimes. I wanted an 06 but decided to wait and got an 08, good thing didn't have to remove the flies. Maybe they'll do another mid-cycle revamp like in 2014/15??? Then I'll be all in, buying a bike would you guys wives consider that divorce me material?

Once upon a time, I believed the rumors about the 14 and Busa being too heavy, sluggish to be effective on twisty roads. Until I rode one on twisty roads. The 14 gobbles them up like skittles. And is not too bad on a roadcourse either. Most of my 41K miles are on twisties and I won't ride any other street bike. I've done it and it was a huge letdown. lol

Keep the Beemers, GSXRers, R1s, etc. I like smashing corners in comfort. 14 all the way. And it feels good beatin' up on racebike riders when flickin' it up on a hummer. The look on their faces.....lol

Cheers Grn, I'll try those settings as a base point. I'm pushing 190, but should be close.

Lots of great roads out here. Palomar mountain is close, but I only ever run that if I have a day off mid week. It is a breeding ground for morons. There are too many other good roads with a good mix of corners. There are also a lot of little cages etc so you can stop for a bite.

My father in law is a drag strip photographer, so might give that a go sometime this year. On my third 14 and never been in a strip, doesn't seem quite right!

Another happy customer!

"OK?! where did they hide the supercharger? Handles like a liter bike, feels faster than my 07 turbo, I was in love with the old 14 but have to say goodbye bitch! No more road work for you. With the help of Scott Horner will just pull as many ponies out of the old girl as possible with many new mods for the turbo. If it blows up, boo hoo, still have Ratchet, the 2012, (after a Transformer), my grand daughter named it already and is hard to keep off as a passenger".

"about the same h/p ...bmw 100 lbs lighter. 1400r is better real world bike.something you can live with"....

There are some nice curvy roads near St. Louis also. They are addictive. Take a look at the roads near Bixby MO. My riding crews are hooked on "Bixby runs".

Where about in MT are you Grn14? I used to live in Great Falls and went to school in Ulm some.

CurveKilla....you should come down to Springfield sometime. I'll show you some incredibly addictive and fun roads...

I want to throw the 14 in the back of the truck and head up that way. I'd like to take it up to Glacier. I just think that it would be amazing to go back through Glacier again and this time on a bike. One of these years it's going to happen....

Here, you might just gechoazz shot. You show off your bike and some cop i likely to show off his 9mm. ......and you are in bigger trouble if you recorded it on your GoPro. It's a felony if it contains audio so I guess you better ask the gun toting bastage to please let you turn off your camera so you don't break any more laws.

Rook are you saying that you can't record a cops audio roadside, what he is saying to you.

we have 100Klm speed limit highway, 12 point licence

I think its like this, may have changed but similar

0- 11klm and over depends on the cop
and fixed speed camera around 1 point and 180 dollars

11klm and over, 2 point and 220 dollars

21klm and over, 3 points and 320 dollars

40klm and over off to the Judge, your licence is gone, will need to apply to the court for a work licence to go to work for the next 6 months and $500 dollar fine and its all up to the judge. "First offence"

Speeds after that can be ,the fine above as well as a charge of , due care and attention, dangerous driving, and so on they can also take your bike if bad enough.

hear Grn14 talk about how good the roads are up there and can't help to think you guys must get away with a lot compared to us.

Grn 14, there's a lot in that , the bit about local knowledge, in my own area there are parts that you wouldn't look sideways at them, our you would get a ticket. but you know where that is and stay away, pick your place to play.

Rook ,nearly every cop here's got a tape going in his pocket, first thing is to try to get you to accidentally confess on tape often without you knowing, camera's starting to appear in cars.

believe you can tape him if you want, but they don't like it.
