Mine was at 51,000...and I'm sure it would have gone another 50,000.

If it ain't broke........

yeah, I know, I should talk. Really though if it aint due or busted or you don't have a nice aftermarket replacement, why bother?

Same time, I'm a bit curious how a clutch works.

If ridden with a fast lever and a conservative apply, probably the life of the bike. If you are hard on it at the standstill and let the clutch out slow, meaning, you are still releasing fast and normal, but there is more hang time, you don't want to flip the bike, nor burn the clutch out mid-release and holding it there. Those are the killers or where a clutch will not last as long. As long as there are less pulls to mismatch the engine to rear wheel, there is your friction loss at the clutch pull.

I've took a torch to a steel plate, heated it, cool it. We are talking, color the plate hot, not melting hot. We are talking, drop it in cold water, let it cool in the air. Heat cycle after heat cycle, I came up with the same exact warp when it was cold and new. And you had to force the feeler under it, meaning, it was still within spec.

Will holding in the lever at at a light warp a plate? Well, I can still catch N without needing ankle surgery after finding it. There is no creep, no slip, nada. As far as I can tell at this point, and yes, I am going to waste that clutch pack finding out before you mentioned this thread about how long do things last on the bike?

I'll think things out like, no, there is no hand rubbing on the holding the lever in. That will not damage plate. What I think is, when damage or warp occurs, it is caused by the hand rubbing of one hand does not stay cold, therefore, it is the friction that is super blue-tinge-material-smeared, meaning, it got hot enough to transfer material off itself. Clutch in, there is no material touching in a pressure excess of one ratio [engine] countering another [back wheel].
