I am really pissed at myself, (and the cop !) I should have known better than to speed in the area I was in, I just passed there earlier and saw the same cop giving someone a ticket !

He wrote me up for 55 in a 40 but said I was going 61 ..... So the fine will be less and I can go to traffic school,
Anyone know if this would be worth seeking a lawyer to lessen the infraction ?

Well he got me with instant on, or whatever they call it now, good thing he didn't see me doing those power wheelies on the freeway on ramp LOL !

When was you last citation? If it has been a while, you can get it reduced to something much less that will not effect your insurance and license. At least that is how it is in N Carolina.

I would say get an attorney. The insurance on these bikes are through the roof already!

If you can get traffic school, that's the route I'd go. You could try court but some cops get OT pay for showing up so hoping he may be a no-show may not work. Good luck

An attorney for a traffic ticket??? Seems like overkill to me…...An attorney's fee would cost you at least next years insurance cost. Did he get you with radar or laser?

I would take the traffic school.It also might not show on your insurance(had a reckless driving yrs and yrs ago)and it didn't show but they said if I got another it would.Getting a lawyer will cost $$ and could possibly make you a "target" if the ticket was in an area you live in or have to travel on a routine basis.I know if the DOT pulls a truck over once,they'll look for things more closely from then on such as bald tires,no mud flaps,lug nuts,lights etc if it's in your area and they're familiar with the vehicle, and now,the company that owns it.

traffic school, its only a day and you will not have insurance issues later, bst way out of that, a lawyer gonna charge you 200-300 just to show up unless you know somebody.

Ok, thanks guys, I think I am just going to go to traffic school (if I can) I don't think I have had a ticket for 13 years or so, and I remember doing online traffic school then ....

Had the same thing happen to me earlier this year but was cut no slack. 81 in a 65. No tickets in 15 years. The difference for me is that have Prepaid Legal and my monthly fee covered the attorney talking the ticket down to "broken headlight"... no points, just fine and court costs, but that was still $150.

Sorry man. But here in California with the new lay changes doesn't matter if they site you at a lower speed than you were going. Anything over the posted speed limit is considered excessive speed. Max fine no matter what they site you as. Layer fees a waist of money in my opinion. Here you can do traffic school online and not hqve to do the weekend class. Adds about 100.00 bucks to the ticket fine. Doesn't take points off your lisence for the infraction but. Only thing it does is stops automatic reporting of the infraction to your insurance company. But if your up for renewal itll still show when insurance does a search. But every state is a lil different. You could also do the delayed effect and try for a trial and hope the officer doesn't show for court date and try and get it thrown out. Good luck with what ever you do

here in south carolina if you get a ticket at the speed you are talking about its 3 points on you lic if you're doing a stupid number like 80 in a 55 the ticket is 6 points I always hire an attorney cost 500.00 you pay the fine but no points, no driving school offered here in this county. My brother last year got caught in Virgina the judge offered him 8hrs of driving school, he went to school paid the fine but no points. if you can get into driving school do it less money out of your pocket and no points..insurance here is high can't handle any points but some insurances companys will forgive a ticket if you haven't had one in 5 yrs

The ticket should tell you how to call the court clerk if you wish to contest the ticket. Just be polite ordinary Joe ask him or her if you should try. That's what I did and what she told me was exactly what happened. The judge and the DA would not budge. The only reason they allowed me more than 5 minutes was because I paid a lawyer $700. No reason to hurry....they are not busy in a small community where 90% of the cases are traffic related and 5% are divorce.

As is the case in most situations, hiring a lawyer is only worth while if you are innocent or if you did somehing heinous and hope to get away with it on a technicality. Generally people don't get arrested in the first place unless there is very strong evidence to prove they did it. Save your$$ pay your fine and go faster as soon as your guts will let you. Be a lot more careful.

I was doing 101 in a 65. SIX pointer, just as bad as DUI. Had no prior tickets for 20 years (few warnings on the bike). Insurance overlooked the 101mph....or else the lawyers and judge just agreed to not report it??? IDK. Just be careful from here on in cuz the insurance would be the real punishment.

We'll I just got this thru the mail last week, doing 110klm in a100klm area lucky I saw him in time to slow down a bit otherwise I would be in big trouble, don't know how it works anywhere else in the world but here I Australia we have a points system and I am now down to my last point which means one more and I loose my license

Got one of those in D.C. mailed to me, how long til you build points up or can you?

I had my annual talking to by a LEO several weeks ago. I was coming over a rise at prolly 30 over and I saw a SUV coming the other way, no radar hit yet. I grabbed a handful of brake and then my radar detector went off, I had no idea how much over I was doing by then. As soon as we passed each other going opposite directions, his red and blues went off

I pulled over, didn't admit to anything, he took my license and I was sure he was going to write me up. He came back 5 minutes later, informed me that he got me at 10 over and asked me to slow down. He then thanked me for having my mc endorsement on my license. I told him he was welcome and went on my way

Thought for sure I was going to be contacting my traffic attorney and giving away 300 bones this time.

Sure was glad this happened at the end of my day, I had a most excellent 300 mile ride at some extra legal speeds. If he would have popped me at the beginning, it would have made me be too cautious to be doing that.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

I try to pick 5am weekends for burns so to ensure no one is on the road and I can see well ahead to ensure that I don't put anyone in harms way other than myself. I look for opportunities to push where it's just me and lots of road to burn. I am not into weaving in and out of traffic at eye smoldering speeds. Sometimes I wonder, if the police understand that it's just a tax payer letting off some steam and not a street racer with malicious intentions. But who knows what they are thinking?

We like to take a few country roads and shred some miles, but each time we do, my license is under threat and that is NO good.

This year the track is where I'm heading for ultimate launches and drags. More to avoid the highway traffic act then anything else.

You guys with your traffic lawyers amaze me. Doesn't work so well everywhere. I get a lot of satisfaction out of hearing others get off on these useless traffic stops. If they want to make it a crime treat like a BIG crime that requires numerous appearances. Good for you and your attorney, Wolfie!

It was all her, she was amazing. I only get a paralegal when the cost of the ticket, is more than the paralegal's gee. In this case it was just under 5 beans.

My guy has a 100 percent dismissal rate for me and my buddies who I referred to him. They were all just simple speeding tickets though, more complex ones may not go away completely.
