Close the road down. Squirt the 14 down that road; WEED be the first ones there to blow everyone away in the proverbial.

318~11 intrigues my senses. It seems you more squat and brake if you could really open that road up. Everything would shorten up and now here comes all that input. A shortened IOM TT without buildings. To grind that quick, they must have the roads really on some wild radius.

Either that, or the turns come up so quick, you snap into them like switchbacking. That is a lot of push and pull, I'd be done two miles out pulled over and panting.

It's aHonda. Sheeeeeuuush, keep it down. Hear that throttle yo-yo-ing? You have to be fluid. The Gap seems more suited for a drift bike w/wheel change at the 6 mile mark. Hell, I get arm pump on the mouse wheel. Have fun there, office sir.

I'm sorry, but this is a damnice sport. You just don't jump on a bagger and go. OK, in this case. It'say HA; on da other hand, you'd expect to see it unfold and out comes an airplane...

Anshit.

11 cars = 11 miles slowing your ass down.

Sometimes, the cars just make it worse. Most do not want to toss their bike. And then, most are skilled enough, the GAP is the Hap. Can't stop fun. Especially these days.

I'm in NC so I'm down. From what I've heard the best time to go is during the weekdays. Too much traffic with weekend cagers and bikes. April is prob the earliest I'd go to the mountains to avoid cold temps and ice/snow/debris....

Justins07zx10 I live in Santee which is half way between Columbia and charleston. I am waiting for the weather to break also. i don't ride when the temp is below 70 degrees. I know that sounds crazy but I do not have cold weather ridding gear, So when the weather breaks we will do this. On another note you said you live in upstate SC I have a cousion in Greenville and she has been begging me to come up and check her out. I will be up ther this summer and maybe we could hit the tail then. let me know.

Mr. Lawman, nothing lower than 70? Layer up right (I don't have winter ride gear either) and I can ride 50's all day and for a short blast in the 40's with sun shining. Whenever you guys are ready, I am outside Charlotte so meeting up is nothing....Sounds like 4 of us are down...

Sounds good to me. lets shoot for April. We could meet up around I77 and 85 some where. Next question? is this going to be a one day trip or stay overnight. that would be a lot of ridding for one day.

06, Im in spartanburg PM Me or email me jmcbee@sccsc.edu if you get out this weekend we are going riding somewhere for sure.

Lawman if you come up to greenville we have done day rides to the gap its about 400+- miles up there and back.

And Im fine with the over night ride up there too. It would probably be easier to meet on I-26 near ashville?

We cam go drop in on the busa bash april 24ish not sure on the date.

I think the Tail is heading into its last days.

Used to be, THP left the Tail alone pretty much. My friends have gone the last two years, and THP and the Sheriff are writing tickets left and right. If you get there during the week, you have a good chance to ride it unmolested, but expect to see the man more than once during a pass.

Nah man, deals gap will never end the THP just over patrol it every 5yrs or so to keep the pace to a normal fun pace and not like a trackday.

Me and my freind went up for a long weekend when it was closed for the rockslide. It was awsome no through traffic and 2 thp all day. For the most part they stayed in one location. By far the most fun I've had there.

When did you go? The information I have is about 5 months old. No idea what it will be like this spring.

I stick by my prediction, like so many other places, its been abused and the site of too many deadly accidents, and it will be patrolled more and more as time goes on.

Probably the only thing keeping the cops from clamping it down is the revenue it brings to a couple little towns, campgrounds, lodges, and dealerships.

Good morning all.

I did the Tail of The Dragon in 2009 with some friends of mine. I did it on a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R.

Some pics are below.

Nice, looks like the perfect vacation to me.......is that rear peg camera mount custom or did you buy it?

Hellmutt, it was a vacation! Looking forward to doing it again on the 14.

The rear peg camera mount is not custom, they are components I purchased from Ram-Mount.com. Very sturdy to with little to no vibration.

See pics below.

I try and go at least 2 times a year they will soon start patroling the skyway more it has out numbered the dragon in deaths the last 2 years I believe.

You can bet there will be at least 2 if not 3 patrol on the dragon at all times but It's still a blast!!
