03/20/16 4:59 PM

2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R. Mint condition, always kept clean and stored inside. 11,250 miles. New Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT tires last fall. Bike is like new, never been dropped or raced, I use it for sport touring and it performs great! Clean & clear title in hand. Located in Huntsville, Alabama and can deliver or meet within reasonable distance. I also have my enclosed trailer being transported from Huntsville to Spirit Lake Iowa over Easter weekend, and if you live ANYWHERE along that 1,000 mile route, we may be able to work something out there also. $8,200

If you're interested in parting with the givi cases and sw-motech brackets, let me know your price. Good luck with the sale.

Do the convertibars require longer brake lines? How much up and back over stock are they?
and are they currently installed on the bike?

I could be interested in them.

I'd like to keep the touring accessories until I sell the bike, so that the new owner has the option if he wants them. If he just wants the bike, I'll be selling everything else for a very good price.

The Convertibars are the coolest things since sliced bread, and I intentionally set them up so I could get MAXIMUM rise and pullback out of the ZX14R platform. They're something crazy like 5" of rise and 2" back all said and done. Yes they do require longer lines to get this amount of rise. I have custom ordered Spiegler lines on my bike. Tricky to measure them since I cannot install both a factory bar and these at the same time, but take a look at the pictures to see for yourself. There is NO other 14R as comfortable as mine, I'm pretty positive! It really rocks and performs great as a sport touring setup. The heated grips sure help, too :)

The parts are all flawless condition, I take extremely good care of my toys. Currently, all touring accessories are installed on the bike. I'll keep you all informed on the status of the bike and parts....or heck you could just buy my whole bike already set up!!

Thanks,
Logan

I have nothing bad to say about this bike, I LOVE owning and riding the King of sportbikes. I am looking to move up in year and maybe try my hand at Adventure Sport Touring as opposed to Hyper Sport Touring (14R is more of a heavy emphasis on HYPER SPORT, not so much touring unless extensively modified).

I'm looking at the new 2015+ Ducati Multistrada with the DVT engine (variable valve timing)

Bradley - I hope you'll return to offer your comparison of the ZX to the Multistrada.

You'll be foregoing the hyperblast acceleration

I don't wanna be a negative Nancy, but I'm afraid the only real benefit you're gonna see is in not having to lube and tighten a chain ... but hopefully there are other benefits for you, such as riding position and weather protection. Good luck!

Extrapolator - I don't know what bike you're thinking of, but the Multistrada is still chain drive like a proper sportbike should be. Maintaining a chain has never been a problem for me, in fact I almost enjoy it and certainly prefer it over shaft drive. The one thing I may like to see in a touring bike is a belt drive (I did test ride the belt-driven Ducati XDiavel, but couldn't stand the forward controls...even though I liked the bike overall).

As far as foregoing the hyperblast acceleration - ANYTHING I buy would be a downgrade in outright performance from a horsepower standpoint (other than an H2/R or a new R1/S1000RR/ZX10R/Panigale I guess). Honestly, that's not what I look for when I'm touring though. The riding position and weather protection you noted DOES make a big difference to me, along with factory items that I spent a LOT of money to get put onto my 14R such as heated grips, decent wind protection, upright bars, luggage, cruise-control, etc. (all that stuff is factory on the MTS S version with Touring Pkg)

That said, 1200cc's making about 140-150hp and 85-95 ft-lbs of torque at the wheel combined with a WET WEIGHT of 518lbs stock, isn't as far a drop as you'd think from a 14R. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my 14R more than any other bike I've owned, I would even consider waiting for the next revision in 2017+ ?????

Bradley - Duh! Senior moment on my part ... was obviously thinking shaft drive on the Duc, even though I darn well know better!

Anyway, good luck on your new bike, and I hope we hear back on your thoughts about it

Since you mentioned the new ZX-10, I am hearing over and over it is weak down low even more so than the last ZX-10 was. The fancy upgraded brakes look cool but are worse than the previous zx-10's. The bike mags are not giving good shootout results to the new ZX-10. The R1 and S1000 are what they are giving the nod to this year for literbikes and the ZX-10 is taking up the rear.

Rook, I have heard the same of the new ZX10R.... up top it punches hard like it ought to, but down low it's severely underwhelming. The others I mentioned, R1/S1000RR/1299 Panigale are all proper superbikes with the balls to go along with their titles and price tags.

I will amend my prior post about ONLY considering the Multistrada. In fact, I am looking very closely at a few bikes...desirability in this order:

1. Ducati Multistrada S
2. BMW S1000XR
3. Triumph Tiger Explorer
4. KTM 1290 Super Adventure

Bradley can I ask what you sold your 14r for. I also have mine up for sale. I recently purchased a S1000XR. I recommend you take one for a demo ride. I don't think I could live without electronic shift assistant anymore. I find the S1000xr to be comfortable with plenty of power.

zx14rider345 - I sold my 2012 for $7,800 with a whole lot of money worth of mods on it. I was offered $7,000 flat on trade-in at the BMW/Ducati dealer. I chose to remove a few of the touring items, and sold the bike with the rest of what you see in my sig. Apparently these aren't holding value like we wished, not surprising for a niche-market Japanese bike.

I did ride a BMW S1000XR for about 15 miles, and the one thing I couldn't help but notice was the fact that it buzzes/vibrates worse than any other 4-cyl bike I've ever ridden! Absolutely numbing! And speaking of 4-cylinders, the character of these engines doesn't really describe "Touring" or "Comfort" for me.....they naturally rev higher and have the 4-banger scream/sound when riding around, something I had hoped to move away from by going with the 1200cc L-twin of the Ducati (just feels calmer, more of a quiet low rumble instead of a high-pitched whine down the freeway).

In all my research, the BMW S1000XR has been proven nearly faultless by every review, makes MORE power at the tire than a CBR1000RR (lol), rides like a superbike on rails, suspension is great, build quality superb, electronics all flawless, it's cheaper than the Ducati, etc. Only negative you read about is the buzz, which could potentially be fixed with a few mods (like filling the handlebars with some weight, or using some poly bushings at the mounts).

I'd love to hear your feedback. (I guess since my ZX is sold, this thread is allowed to wander off topic?) :)
