Pot hole city here in the Northeast
03/18/15 9:05 PM

The roads around here are destroyed after "hell winter" 2014/2015.... im thinking about throwing my stock wheels back on for this season....I feel like im running the baja 1000 everyday driving my cage over the frost heaves and potholes. Watch out for craters folks!

Man I hear ya on that one.. The temp change has been so damn bad in oklahoma that they can't fill pot holes fast enough. I had a buddy taco the shit out of his wheel last week. Makes me not even want to ride on the street.. I would be nervous as hell if I had some good wheels on mine like you do on yours. Be safe out there man!

With the number of craters here in Northeast Indiana it's like trying to ride around a field thats been cluster bombed!!! Worry about bending a rim, getting a flat tire, or getting chucked off.

I think they only have two seasons here, winter and road repair!

No kidding! It's important this time of year to be disciplined and keep enough distance to the car in front so you have time to react. You can't assume that staying in their wheel tracks will keep you out of trouble.
One morning going to work there was a real bad one I wouldn't have seen because it was still dark and it was under a tree to boot; fortunately someone put a cone in front of it to mark it.

bgmagma10, I noticed the Tulsa Raceway sign in the background. I grew up in Tulsa and remember when the racway was originally built, it was called Tulsa International Raceway. As a kid and teenager I went to a LOT of races there, Spring Nationals, the works, saw all the old big names there. Brings back a lot of great memories!!! The race track was closed for years, happy to see it's open again for a new generation!

Wow man thats really cool!! I remember going out there when I was a teenager and standing on the mini towers behind the water box. Yeah the old owner sold the track a few years ago for the land. (pretty shitty). Obviously he didn't care about anything but the money. Thankfully the company that bought the land "APAC" was nice enough to lease the track to two PDRA racers and the city of Owasso to keep it open. They have done a great job at bringing some big races back. I was actually waiting to make a pass and was talking to V gains for a while and didn't even know it was him. lol. Its definitely nice to still have the track. I'm very fortunate to have a great bike shop that one of my really good friends' owns a half a mile from my house, and the track 6 miles away. :)

Hit a killer one on the Jersey side of the GW BRIDGE. Only 200 miles on the bike and I bend both rims. Back one just slightly. It can be fixed easily says my shop guy. Front one is toast. Even though it holds air. Gotta take the $800 hit and get a new rim. I am so fucking pissed.

Switch to carbon fiber. Potholes and shitty roads are the hole (snicker) reason I switched.

@wfozx14 I have full coverage. But with a $500 deductible. So I don't know if I wanna take an insurance hit for 300 bucks.

I'd probably pay the deductible and get two new wheels and tires. Skip the wheel repair.

I have yet to take mine out for a ride due to all the pot holes, and pot hole repairs wire all the stones everywhere!
