tripmeter reset
10/07/11 1:56 PM

for some strange reason I can't reset my tripmeters. It was working fine last fillup, about a week ago. Both buttons and all other functions work perfectly. I can get the tripmeters flashing (either/both), but they won't reset. I unhooked the battery, and tried again. I could set the time, and everything else, but still can't reset tripmeters. Any ideas?

edit; Even weirder, I just tried again, and they reset perfectly. Is my dash going?

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

Hmmm....sounds okay now.SOMETIMES,the buttons may not push all the way in.You may feel they are,but they aren't,that's been MY experience.

blue07; After trying it about 20 times it had to be all the way in at least once. When it finally worked, I barely pushed the button. Here's the dilemma. My extended warranty ends in a week, and the dealer said he'd replace my dash, but I really don't want to. If it's a sign my dash is starting to crap out though....

elliot; Nope. Still doing it. I always reset on fuel fill-up, so I'll try when I first pull up to the pump, again when I restart, and again when I get home. Sometimes it works 1st try, sometimes not at all after 6-7 tries. The dash cycles through functions perfectly, but the reset is a crap shoot.

If your dealer is willing to replace the unit... i would let him. Then its documented.

hagrid; for me, I've got another 2 years on my extended warranty, since it will zero my odometer, I'll put off the replacement as long as possible.

They CAN flash that odo on a new unit to read present mileage from the broken one.

nope, everything stock. The dealer thought the buttons just needed cleaning, but when I showed him, the tripmeter reset perfectly. Then I tried to reset the second one, couldn't do it after 5 tries, but could reset everything else, he said lets replace it.

Grn14; Maybe I don't want it reflashed to a higher mileage reading.
