Just wondering if the 14R has any wiring set for accessories, GPS, etc. My Concours had wiring under the left dash panel and another set of wires in the tail. Does the 14R have this or should I just run a fuse block up from the battery?

The horn wire is hot all the time. I used that for my accy wires. Make a Y connector, so you can bleed off the horn wire. This shuts off with the bike. So, your accessories will not remain hot off the battery, find a hot lead with key on. Use a blank female end that is hot, use an existing hot wire off a running light? Again, unless your unit has a way to turn off, short of pulling the fuse out all the time, the idea is to stay away from the battery.

Start with a fuse holder made to hold the same fuses as the bike. This way, you can grab a spare fuse, just in case. The glass tube type fuse holders are fine, but the horseshoe fuse is a lot cleaner with less moving parts like a spring and a clip to keep the fuse container together.

Now, you have a fuse end that you can install your gps/pc/lighter/etc.

The fuse block that Twisted Throttle sells has a sense wire you connect to a running light lead or such, so it knows when the bike is off. It also has a pigtail for a Battery Tender Plus, which will disconnect when you turn the key on to prevent the charger from pumping voltage in while the ECU is running.

I had one on my ZX14, and it worked great. It only does (+) so you have to run a ground wire up as well, or if all your stuff is low amperage, find a ground nearby and use that.

There is plenty of room on the right ram air tube (outside side) to tie-wrap it in place.

Also, Murph's Kits sells a fuse block which is very good.

I recommend this if you are going to hook up more than one thing, because hanging several farkles off a horn or running light wire is a recipe for overload, not to mention getting busy around the tap location.

Thanks for the help, HUB and Privateer. I think I'll run a fuse block from the battery forward. I'll use the horn wire to control the 'off with the key'. Both Murph's and Twisted Throttle's fuse blocks allow you to connect for off with the key or hot all the time.
