local dealer $12,700
01/15/12 3:50 PM

Was keeping it on the low down.... until i had my deposit down..... but last week he raised the price back up to 13,200.

I guess what he was doing is using the 500 kick back from kawaski..... if you had a trade in or not.

Missed the boat on that deal.... price ran for a couple of weeks.

So did you put a deposit down? That is a very good price. As long as they don't try to sting you a grip for freight, set-up, etc. I have seen $1000 difference between 2 dealers local to each other in misc fees. When I first moved to the States I paid $1500 set up fee on a CBR F3, on top of msrp. I no longer use that dealer and make sure I do my homework first. I know that it's a business and don't have a problem with them making a little money from me, but I'm really careful about actual on the road cost now.

No missed the boat on that deal... Still have not seen one in person yet.. Was hoping to seat on one first and see how it feels my inseam is about 29/30 inches so i am hoping that not going to be a issue.

Did found out cost from a good friend who owns a dealership he told me .... not counting the 3% hold back

black/ blue model 12.916.00 dealer cost

That dealership i mention charges $215.00 freight and setup so still a good price... from what i can tell i will be paying about 13,400 for a blue one plus tax.But they still will have to look over my trade which is a 09 fz6r yamaha so you know how that goes.

with the 500 extra from kaw until jan 31st if they was to offer me 3995.00 plus the 500 i would be cool with that.

You would be better off listing your FZ6R in the Trader for $4500, and take anything over $4k to meet your goal. Trade in on your bike is only going to be about $3200, and some dealers will pick at things like needing a new tire to lower that further. Trade in value is sometimes widely negotiable, but usually only when they are making decent money on the new unit. Sounds like you are at rock bottom with the 14R. The FZ6R is a perfect bike for someone starting out, and cheap enough to be affordable. Just thought you should know where you are at so if you can't afford to take a little less, try listing it first. $215 is reasonable for freight & set up, but that is probably the only negotiable part you have. I may be wrong, but I would hate to hear you couldn't make a deal over a couple of hundred bucks.

Also about your fitment concern. Do any local dealers have a left over 2011 or any year trade in? They are for all intents and purpose the same ergonomically when you sit on it. If anything, the 2012 would be a little easier for you because the seat is a little narrower up front. Just thinking if you are OK with a previous year fitment, you are good to go. There is always the option of lowering it a little too, but I think you would be fine.

Have the bike listed now for 4495.00... but at this time of the year in the northeast sure the inquiry will be few until the weather warms up some.

blue book was very low at 3200... looked it up last week before i posted the bike for sale... one dealer i spoke with already said it would bring maybe close to 3900 on trade... their stated price Blue book seemed low.

Almost bought a fz1 last year but instead went wih the yama did not like the motorcross style bars that come on some street bikes... i perfer the ones that slant back alittle not straight across.

just have to sit on one and see how the ergos feel from reports seems to be a good sport touring bike...the seat height should not be a problem i did sit on a older model once at dealer last year seemed like it put you in a drag race kind of positions but i was there just to pick up extra helment so i really did not pay that much attention at the time.

so have too see what happens.

you do save little on the tax that you have to include when you trade.

Also the bike is big bucks... harley davidson territory....most i ever payed for a motorbike before was 9400 hundred for the busa and 9200 for the r1 which i turned around and sold for 11,400....which hardly ever happens.

One reason i always purchase japanese bikes.... they seem to offer more bang for your buck....you really cannot beat them for their R&D work for the price.

Also i work for the 99% on weekends and if they knew i payed 14,699 plus tax they would probably hang me from a tree. lol

Some of those folks could live on that for a year or two ?

Camp out with them for 9 days ONCE but the weather was rainy and cold so i had to book on them like 4 o clock in the morning. lol

Mark, I'm paying $13639 for my green model. That of course doesn't include sales tax or my title and license. Kawasaki will give nearly $500 in hold-back plus a set-up and assembly allowance of nearly $100 so the dealership will easily clear $1000 on my deal. I'm happy with it and so are they so it's a win/win.

I just wish the darned thing would hurry up and get here. The shop owner and I are going to take a Edelweiss European tour this summer and I'm hoping to have my ZX-R well broken-in so I have something fun to talk about over dinner.

Fowfay, that's a fair price... sounds like a awesome plan you have....the bikes should start to hit upstate new york in the next week or two... so should be pretty soon for your bike.

Us Canadians feel sorry for you guys LOL. Our MSRP is $16,999 +++ and dealers are only willing to discount a small amount.

To be honest the Canadian price is still cheaper than most of the world. THe US pricing and the desire of dealers to "deal" make you guys very lucky. Now....start buying so the parts and accessories world will speed up making things for our new bike.

Mark,

Are you talking about Troy City Garage? The seem to have the best prices around.

As far as your inseam, my friend who is 5'3" and when she wears her riding boots, is able to hold / ride my bike when I have the Corbin seat on it. She also has an FZ6 which she wishes to sell but to buy a VFR.

The difference between the FZ6R and any ZX14 is beyond night and day. Heck, I get giddy thinking about selling my 07 ZX14 to buy a 2012 ZX14! ;)

I called that shop in Romney, WV, and they have the best prices by far. The salesman gave me a price of $13195 for the bike plus $50 for documentation. That's it. Since I'm a out-of-state sale there would be no collection of sales tax at the time of sale so I could essentially walk in with $13245 and leave with a green ZX-14R and the MSO.

They have two blue ones and just received a green one today. I might have to take him up on this deal. I am off from work until next saturday so a road trip sounds perfect.

FWIW, I spoke to a guy named Todd. Their toll-free number is 866-766-1495 (304-822-3933 in WV)

Fowvay - That is a great price, jump on it. I paid $13,499 + tax for mine, but that was with significant negotiating. I bought the 4 year warranty and think I paid $599. There is only so much haggling you can do in So Cal.

Just got back from Romney cycles 13,6 otd with a 4 year warranty. Stopped by HTP Performance in Richmond VA on the way back to break it in on the dyno. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it 209 to the rear tire incredible. The more runs he made the more power it put down from 208-209 in 3 pulls. This was the 2nd one he dynoed the first was RG's own bike it made 219 at the tire with undisclosed modifications. Dang I'm seriously contemplating selling my 08.

Congratulations on your newest purchase. I spoke to them today and they mentioned selling one so it must have been yours.

Wow, those are some impressive horsepower numbers! Hopefully you'll have some beautiful riding weather over the next few days.

Got a quote for $13485 0ut the door with plates for 2012 Blaze Green ZX-14. He needed some money down because he had a deadline to order the bike. Tried to run Kaw 3.97% and could not work. Walked away. Have never bought a bike on credit and have owned couple dozen. Called my ins company and State Farm loaned most of the money to pick up a new bike. 7.75%. Had to put crash ins on the thing with a $500 deductible. Never had to do before. Cost about $600 yr. Had to drive 250 miles to Sublimity, Or. to pick up a green machine because it was the nearest one available. Paid $14000. Will hit 2000 this Friday for my next ride. Rain sucks. MY 08 Atomic Silver had 49280 on it. Ride till you die. 2/17/44 I think I have a buyer for the 08
