Any chance of an update?

Any chance kawi gives us an updated zx14r now that suzuki has updated the busa? Just curious on the thoughts that are out there.

It would be pretty inexpensive for them to do that because all they'd need to do is add some electronics. I don't think Kaw will do that given the reaction to the new busa, at least in the US. Very few people on the forums are optimistic about the 2021 Hayabusa.

The H2 will see some enticing improvements in the future. I think the big bore battle has ended.

I am of the same opinion. The h2 sx looks good but I have a few concerns on reliability when you start tuning with that super charger on it. I like the idea of cruise control and heated grips as well. Even if that's all they updated the zx14r with some people would be happy others would not be.

If they added full electronics including suspension I would bite.

I'd have a short test loop and when that bike came out, I'd look down at the speedo before the hairpin turn and see 92mph. Rode up to the shop and hit the front brake and the back wheel came up. It's still vivid to this day.

When I heard the marketing research and owners wanted a refinement rather than a new bike, Suz listened. Great execution.

Marketing wise I am not in that camp. I had a run of cars moving over at least 3 I can remember. This one was a chippie catching me in a fast clip v. traffic. Car gets in my lane and I whip it up, asked the cop if he saw that happen and lied when I asked.

The point is, that bike pulled away each time and we are talking the short rpm window Suz might have chased. That's the kind of new bike I'm looking for. A strive for Electric Torque. Maybe a tad longer rod for even more torque?

If it takes a V-type engine configuration, I'm on the seat dodging metal, WOT do I care> I want that crank to the back wheel to millisecond per inch, to, I beat you by a half a foot. So sure, bring on the electrics as more telemetry makes sense... Ask NASA if it works.

So bottom line, I'm probably not even close to being that conservative as a Suz rider. Right now, the bike is a fender beater for sure, but, cough to the right, I've injected my testicles for more HP that makes you say, 'Go head, make my TORQUE.'

I know it's unlikely for reasons already explained but hear me out on this.

With the complete discontent from all and sundry with Suzuki and their substandard effort with the long awaited Gen 3 Hayabusa, what if, and I say again what if Kawasaki's marketing department saw a massive opportunity here and decided to update the ZX-14R to a Gen 3 version but done properly?
Complete electronics to match or better the Gen 3 Busa BUT INCLUDE A MASSIVE IMPROVED POWER RATING that all have been desperate for (stuff Europeans and their Euro emissions rules).

It would blow Suzuki and their Gen 3 Busa completely out of the water, convert many Suzuki / Busa fans / riders across to the brand, and stamp Kawasaki as the absolute King of the Hyperbike class once and for all.

A massive opportunity for Kawasaki IMHO...

... BUT INCLUDE A MASSIVE IMPROVED POWER RATING

I remember Dogo and I traded bikes. His was much faster with the mods torque wise.
Kawi said they have no HP issue. You start to see roll-ons and the new busa walks the 14... that won't last long.

Someone had a HP sheet of the mid-engine vettes. This year is 450hp, next year 700, following year an E/NA tree hugger type with 800, then came my year at 1000hp. But I'd be in my late 70's once that comes around. Emissions are things like faster start-less choke and spewing those unspents/leaner cruise/dual 02's fore and aft.

Shit like that can be done with mechanical cam lobe actuation. Pneumatic valves an no cam and mess with the programming. HP is not a problem. Look what they did without the exotic mechanical moves with the 14 or H2.

Maybe a 1499cc dual speed spooler. Too bad it starting to look heavy. Fatter case, more gears and fork for the spooling change.

I have never thought the H2 was the answer in the hyper bike category.
Fast and powerful, yes.
But always struck me as a smaller 1000cc sized type machine.

I love the Busa's and ZX-14's larger size suited for fat fucks like me.

And anyway, it's always been Busa v 14!

Build the 14 right after Suzuki dropped the ball and they will come!

Here-Here. Thus the torque under you. I think if we pinpoint top shelf models, I might be wrong:
1. Honda - Goldwing
2. Yammie - R1
3. Suz - Busa
4. Kawi - 14

Trivia wise, The GL came out in '75 and has evolve thru the years.
Again, Kawi came out with the Z1 and performance history is all theirs.
Suz too, in 1999 was the busa intro and has that certain type bike configuration.
And I mean, it's not an out and out sport bike, but a combo of both light touring and added sport.

Ass you point out about our fat bottoms, it is a lot easier to up the bike's HP than lower the body pounds.

[I hope] corporate remains king, because I find man can adapt to speed... it's all relative as they throttle up a top fueler, right?

I would buy it. There's no way Suzuki could challenge it. They already played their hand. The problem is the 14 is still the undisputed champion of hyperbikes so they don't need to do anything. The competition seems to be the exotic liter bikes and Kaw's own H2.

I would buy it.

On the condition it was done right, so would I Rook.
In a heart beat.

Exactly, and thats the point!

Rook, you already know more about the 14 than most Kawasaki technicians.
Now you just have to get involved in the marketing side of things and convince them of our idea...

They could drop the H2 and offer the 14R with HD engine supercharged or NA. Put electronics on it and make hard bags for it. Sell it for $15,000 NA with a free jacket. $29,000 with the SC. H2 owners, 14R owners and Hayabusa owners will buy it. No one will buy a Gen3 Hayabusa. Actually, I can't believe people are buying the Gen3 even now since they could get a 14R for $4000 less as it is and still have a more powerful bike. It probably has a lot to do with the Euro5 standards that most of the rest of the world has accepted. Perhaps the countries that do not conform to Euro5 standards make up a much smaller percentage of the motorcycle buying public.
