Power Commander V
03/06/12 6:35 AM

I know that people have posted comments on the PC V add to their bike.... I have a 2008 with Muzzy pipes and it runs well...I am wondering if adding a PC V will make that much of an improvement. So my question is, has anyone recently added the PC V to their bike and has it made much of a difference? Thanks in advance for the input.

I added PCV to my stock bike with stock exhaust. Made very little difference. almost unnoticeable. Perhaps ran a bit cooler? The annoying flies open response was not changed much at all. I had a map from fuelmoto USA in the PCV.

I installed the full system I have and changed to a different tuner's map for that pipe. Better. First adjustment after about 1 month of Autotune sampling and that made a good improvement. Mostly smoother throttle response. The flies open zing at 3.5K was pretty much eliminated.

I would have a PC on there if you have a full system. Slipons, that is up to you. Either way, it can run better with a PC but there needs to be a good map available to you.

You could use a less expensive Power Commander 3 USB and get the same result.

Most people who own a PC5 don't make use of its capability.

Hey Rook, are you in favor of removing the flies or do you think it's better to leave them in? I have an 06 and I'm finding that the bike pulls my face off from 6K and up, but I am a little disappointed in the low-mid range (3-5K) torque for an engine of this size. Some say pulling the flies and adding a PC V makes power delivery a bit more linear across the rpm range.

PULL THE FLIES ASAP and get a PC! If you can afford it get a pipe and a map with power everywhere on the curve (brock's CT's). You'll never look back... literally lol

I have a 07 and a PC3 only have slilon for now. I havent rode it since i pulled the flys but read that on 06 and 07 it will better in the lower RPM since the flys dont evan open till 4 grand anyways. Unless your gonna do racing i think the PC3 will be fine and cheaper.

I've got my PCV cheaper than I could get a PC3 at the time. I rode for a while with slip ons and no flies...NICE. You'll notice the difference!

Save your money, get a re-flash. Dynotronics is ok, GUHL is great. Get them to open the secondary butterflies aggressively (its all table driven in the ECU's memory) and you get the benefits of removing the flies without actually removing them.

On a ZX14R with traction control that is a must do, pulling flies hurts traction controls ability to be effective. But there is something to be said for doing it on a pre-2012 bike as well.

Being new to this reflash idea. Can they do it without the bike. Just send them the ECU and the options or do i have to ship the whole bike. Does anyone know of a place to do a reflash with a dyno run on the west coast.
