I rode with a buddy 4 days to and through West Virgina in rain.... I think it was dry for about a total four hours in four days.... We were in such heavy rain at one point you couldn't see 50 feet I front of you. But it just made the hot tub and scotch at the hotel that much better!!

Well got all the bearings changed out along with the chain and sprockets. All went pretty smooth. Went through and checked most everything and all seems great. Did a 120 mile shake down and she felt great! I'm wondering if the rears went because I over tightened them? I use a large wrench and tighten it pretty good but not sure. This time I went snug and put a new cotter pin in there....What do you guys think?

I would think that X is the axle spacer. This is where you tighten the collar against the swing arm, the center bearing races, then the outside of the swing is now about to be squeezed together. This says if the spacer collar is doing its thing, then the outer and inner races are X, meaning no friction or drag against the races. This more floats inside the races as X is now finished.
The Y factor is the road pounding on the 'vertical' angle of the balls. We have no thrust clearances going side to side, unless the bike tilts over. Thus, the balls are now rolling on the side of the race, not straight down on it as if rolling upright.
This still is weight on the ball for the bike's weight is the crush factor. If you do wheelies, you are smashing down on a sheet of glass on the ground, and you know what broken glass looks like, you call it silicone, whatever. If you slam a piece of metal on the ground, you see what is ductile and what is not.

I hear you Hub....I agree. After this season and top speed event I'm going to check them again. If they are ok I'll leave them in but if not I'm going back to Steel......
