LOL, that was actually kinda funny, not sure why the rider was so submissive to the cop. The officer was obviously in the wrong and the rider has video evidence to back it up. IMO the cop was upset about the fact that he caused an "accident" and wanted to blame someone else, i'm pretty sure if he REALLY thought the rider was in the wrong he wouldn't let him go without a ticket.

What a load of BS....no matter what...any rear end accident is the fault of the rear driver....am I right here?I'd be really pissed...like..."WTF?...you have four wheels,we're rollin at 10 mph,you can't stop in time?WTF!!!!!????"...So he slowed down...yeah,that's his prerogative to do that.He gave his reason....valid IMO.That copper should have been askin him..."are ya okay?How's the bike....let's look and see if I crunched her up any...we'll foot the bill".He was WAY wrong there.

And another thing...just what the heck was that copper doin changin lanes into his lane,then following without 'watching'....setup if ya ask me...hopin that bike guy would take off or somethin...BACKFIRE!Thought he'd get a nice speeding or eluding out of it...instead,got his arse handed to him on filmLOL!!!!I'd be very pissed he hit my bike like that.Bet he wishes he'd stayed in his own lane and just kept minding his own business;)

...but we see a sudden change in the cops demeanor as soon as he is certain the rider is not going to challenge him. He knows he F-ed up and he's glad as hell the rider isn't going to bring a load of shit down on him. ...or maybe he did?

Damn nice cop. Dumbass knows his bike will stop faster than a car. That cop was right, flow with traffic you know you can be off to the right and still be close and all that shit. Impeding means, you be wasting my time is that gap the fuck up there or get out the way.

Cop was not right.He should have been giving more room to the rider ahead.He was in the 'slow lane' to begin with.If he had an issue with him hanging back some...he should have lit him up...and pulled him over...then asked him"WHAT are you doing?"....Not raggin him about staying up with traffic when he clearly was wrong in the first place.If you or I had 'run into' a slower moving police car ahead...guess where we'd be going...and our bike?He'd have yer azz locked up in the back seat so fast...you wouldn't have time to ask"why the hell are you doing driving like that?"If he'd come at me with his attitude...I can tell ya right now...he'd be standin there with egg on his face...and I wouldn't be yelling or arguing with him either to get the point across.He couldn't make his actions right..no matter WHAT he said.He knew it.That's EXACTLY why he didn't take him to jail.Blamed the rider for his own lapse in attention.

I just watched it again...rider was TOTALLY in the right slowing up for the car that was signalling to come over....the cop was WAY too close...you can hear the skid and bam...immediately.That car could EASILY stop safely had he NOT been tailgating that bike.Cop completely at fault.The rider was riding defensively...the copper....created the accident.NOT the rider.It's possible the rider was 'pissed' the cop was on his ass so damn close...he just had enough and nailed his brake....that's what it looked like to me.He passes the cop...cop's lookin for an easy mark....goes after the rider...and got what he got.On film.Completely in the wrong all the way.

The 'gap' was being closed by the white car coming over...Had the rider been right there....but no...he gave him room to come over.Nothing wrong with that.Had that rider caused a rear ender with that car ahead...the van...you can bet that cop would have said he was following too close.(just like HE was).

How many times have I tapped my rear brake(or front) 'telling' some yahoo to back off....plenty.That copper probably rolled in behind him...and was "right there" on his ass before he had a chance to even know WTF?He tapped his rear brake...locked a second and BOOM.

If that rider would have sped up to keep that white car from getting over...especially with it's turn signal on...you can bet that copper would have pulled him over in a second and told him..."It's guys like YOU that create road rage by purposely not allowing traffic to merge and all"...I can just hear it.

Ya...well,I was only tryin to 'understand ' HOW he could have known where ya lived and all....but you explained that one;)

I've never had a cop talk like that to me....or any similar deal like what happened there....been drawn down on a few times...case of mistaken identity...but not like that.Scolded as if I was at fault for such an obvious screw up.I guess they're out there...I haven't met any so far;)They're pretty cool actually here...considering.

Thanks Wolf...'positive'...well...for one thing...I act humble...and say yes sir,no sir.But also...I realize they're doing a job...I don't ever get stopped unless I'm actually breaking the law...I know I am...they know I am...so why try to outsmart em?Besides...I've got nothing against cops....I think that becomes evident when we 'talk'.I also don't think they expect a 'senior citizen' riding a zx.Kinda jars em a tad when I take my lid off;)

I agree...there are some out there that purposely try to escalate a situation...pretty easy to recognize that when it starts happening.You don't win no matter what when things go south with a LEO...But I've had way more 'decent' experiences than bad ones for sure.

I knew it every time. Most of the time I got away with it. A couple times I was moving at about 100mph....yeah, I have only been stopped when I was actually speeding except for one time.

A bike cop stopped because he heard me at high rpm but I knew I was not within sight. I knew he didn't see me in that corner....I was the only vehicle there. I saw him way behind me as I hit the straightaway and by then I was doing the speed limit. He said I was going pretty fast through the parkway. I knew that I was not and I told him so. I politely explained I never speed there because I see cops parked there pretty often and that is the truth. He let me go with a warning. No radar evidence, no admission of guilt. Just a standup guy doing a quick speed thrill out of everyone's way.

I had a cop explain that he was protecting the public from harm by stopping me but there were no other vehicles near me when I was observed speeding. Then the cop added "or yourself" meaning protecting me from harming myself. That, I think is a load of crap. I choose to risk my health with my bike and I decide how much risk is acceptable. If I crash, it is my fault. No one comes to cry for me or family. I can get insurance for that if I want. It's the same with cops pursuing speeders. I'm sorry but if they wreck their car and become injured....well, that's life. They didn't need to pursue anyone but they chose to do it. It's their fault if they cannot maintain control of their vehicle.

By the same token, I don't expect cops to gently apprehend anyone if they run. They might try to ram you. Now if you run and you do agrressive stuff back...

...then you deserve what you get. We play the same game, cops and speeders. Neither one is a bad guy. It's dangerous business but we all choose how far to push.

yup and yup again. I'm guessing he must have been fleeing for quite a distance since he has 2 squads on him plus the high performance interceptor (notice that guy does his best to stay away from the demolition derby action).

yep. I think we're both saying "you play your hand as you see fit." It is the same with cops. If they choose to play the speed game they can lose just the same. haha-- but I think they have the deck stacked in their favor most of the time!!

Rook, I got this from my boy BEAST. 23 year old rider from, we think, my area, here in Markham, Ontario. Apparently he fled from the police and lost his life. The pic's speak for themselves. This is the fourth fatality of a motorcycle operator in the last two weeks.

One of my boys, thinks he might know him.

It's a hell of a card to play, feel sorry for him and his family. It looks like he was riding a cbr 1000rr, meaning he had a lot of power at his disposal. Sad, sad, news and I think this is the worst possible outcome of deciding to evade.

That is a shame, Wolfman. From what I hear, your speeding penalties are extremely harsh in Canada. It's no wonder people run. I still have to say, if you take the risk, you have to accept the consequences. If it would have been a cop that lost his life in the chase, I'd feel the same way.

But this story is about a young man who excercised a poor choice and paid dearly. I have evaded em too, I was like this guy young and fool hardy with my life. By some devine act I survived. But I hate to see any youngster die this way. Such a waste!
The Internal investigation unit is looking at why the officers involved gave high speed pursuit, but as we all know they will be cleared of negligence. And the focus will be the runner.

"looses their life doing what they enjoy"....maybe that might be a plus...if it has to go that way?.Still tragic...all these wrecks....My reality....I didn't FEEL any of the wrecks I was in....not one bit.Was there one minute....then out.I don't even remember my last one....had I died...I wouldn't have been aware of it....I don't think.I wasn't anyway.Only waking up out of ICU...and that's still iffy.But I didn't feel anything.

Here's a cop wanting to investigate this situation a bit closer.

On another note, I was getting gas the other day and a local city cop came up to look at my bike and ask me about it. Turns out he also has a ZX14 (silver 2009, I think he said) and we plan on riding together. His second bike ( you know, the quandry I am at war with myself over ) is a Ducati 1198.

That's my kind of police officer.

Zx14man. Yup that's a cool one for sure! Wish more of them road the big king, as they would instantly understand the passion and the difficulty in resisting her high speed charm! Lots of cops on this forum I think!
