Ride of the Century- St Louis - 2012

Tenth year, I think.

Intended to go this year, but didn't have time. Apparently a huge turnout, and even though it was announced as the final year for it, I somehow doubt it will be.

Ride of the Century is apparently THE biggest sportbike gathering in the country. At least, that I am aware of. I spoke to someone who went last week and he said it was estimated to be something like 4600 bikes there this year.

I spotted a black ZX14 at the 40 second mark in this clip:

And watching such a pack swarm by:

Anyone ever go?

Seems they are already looking as if they there is going to be another in 2013 from the look of their facebook page.

I am there, next year, either by hook or crook. (do they still use that term?)

Cooter, did you see any major accidents, nasty babes, memorable bikes, or just anything that stuck out to you? LOL

Seems like this event has all those elements, and more. There has to be quite a few accidents with that many bikes, given the congestion of em all packed in so tight before they make it out to the open highways.

And even then, quick lane changes, stunts gone bad, and idiotic riding, must cause more accidents at highway speed.

I did not see any major crashes on that ride just a couple stunts gone bad but you do get to see some amazing stunts and amazingly hot girls and bikes that are just as hot but ridding in a group that large with other riders that you have never ridden with is very nerve racking!!! But in my opinion worth every second!

I would never ride with that many riders, it is bad enough riding with 12 or so.

I am thinking about Americade, which is pretty big every year, but nothing like Sturgis.

Sturgis for sure has more sport bikes than "ride of the century". Americade might too.

I prefer gypsy events. This is what rally events were first called, because some who reported on the events noted how people traveled long distances to assemble in a central location and on the way there, often camped in tents and made fires and acted like gypsies. Now we call them rallys.

Anyway, one more day at work tomorrow, then I'm off to Davis WV (more exactly, Canaan National Forest/Park)for 3 days. Hopefully we'll get decent weather, it is iffy right now.
