But it doesn't burn any Should I...A)Use a turkey baster to IV my bad bird?...or B)...take that oil drain bolt and pop that puppy off for a teensy minute?....(that could be messy...and I'm not sure I'd get the right amount drained again)...or...C)...loosen the oil filter and let her spill some?

"Grn14, are you being serious?"....well...not exactly;)LOL!This here thread morphed into some sort of "Frankenstein MOnster".....WHEEEEEE!!!!!I swear though...how the heck ya supposed to 'turkey baste' that oil?...you ever LOOKED in there?Shit man,you aint gettin no baster(d) down in there!(like the manual says to)...it does...I read it.....it's in there...I swear.Somewhere.In the manual.Under 'overfilled' engine oil'.They must have some purty thin turkeys in Japan....Syringe is more like it.
Mebgardner wrote...."Well, I thought that would be obvious.
You drain it, it's slippery, you use it. Have fun with that".....Whattaya mean,"obvious"?....I've got synthetic in mine....you think that just may affect my internals in a not so good way...as opposed to regular 'earth safe' dino oil?.10/40...Motul....7100....full syn.The best....slippery...very.

Gotcha, ;) . and by baster, I didn't necessarily mean a full size one for turkeys. OR maybe you can use one that has a rubber tube on the end. Friend of mine (where I do all my work), has some a couple diff sizes. One is quite small, and glass so you can suction up stuff that would eat the plastic types.

Did my first oil and filter change. It took just as the service manual said to fill it with a new filter. About 4.4 quarts. Good feeling to have that initial breakin oil and those breakin metal bits outta there and fresh oil in.
But good GOD that synthetic oil is expensive.

Okay...NOW...you MUST go and check your oil level....it might be underfilled or something Maybe put er on a rear stand, level ground...you know something like that...just to be sure it's right. You don't REALLY trust that manual fill amount do you?Kinda like trusting those hash marks on the swingarms are correct
I would however...lift the bike vertical...and see where it's sitting in the sight glass....just so's you'll know.
