100 miles of fun
08/11/23 9:23 AM

So, all my riding friends were busy. I decided to just jump on the bike and go somewhere.
Got geared up and headed west down the mountain. Took Wildcat Rd and dropped down Shingletown Ridge into the valley east of Red Bluff. Temperature was perfect but heating up so I didn't want to linger. Took Lanes Valley Rd as a shortcut, knowing it's probably the worst for this bike. Narrow, dirty, bumpy as Hell but it prevents a 10 mile backtrack so I just cruised. Finally got to Hwy 36 and turned east and it's GAME ON !

This part of 36 doesn't get the attention that the western side does but it's got some really fun high speed sweeping sections as it climbs back up into the mountains. Beautiful views and dense cool forests as it gains altitude.

Just east of Mineral, I turned into the southern entrance to Lassen Volcanic Park and stopped at the Visitor Center for coffee and snacks. Fortified with caffeine, I continued on. The road was pretty empty and any cars I caught up with were easily dispatched. I stopped at an overlook and gazed south at Lake Almanor off in the distance under a blue haze.

A very nice short ride to start the day

I've refrained from riding since last August when I got covid.I managed to pull off getting the LONG COVID crap. It's no fun.Still not up to getting out and riding. I went twice this year.Went a few hundred miles then turned around.JUst not feelin it.That's it.Total season(s)wasn't able to think straight enough to feel safe.If this doesn't clear up...I may never ride again. This shit is serious.Still working, but missing days at times.Thank God I have a great boss and supervisor. They've been letting me do what I need to,even if that's leaving early.JUst following a vitamin regimen and TRYING to eat.LOst 28 lbs since last Aug. Not good.I was already underweight.141 right now...should be 170 something.

Well,you guys take care...stay good.
My emotions have been everywhere this last year.Even to thinking about selling my bike.Shit,it's practically new.I think 8+K miles on her.Gonna wait though for a bit.See where this BS goes.FUCK CHINA..totally done on purpose with the help of our govt.Sickening.Who would have thought they'd get away with this.Though they've had decades of practice on their own.I don't dislike Chinese people.ONLY the murderers in the Govt.

Hope you get feeling better Grn
The thing on the seat is a small pad I got from Amazon. I still can't bend my left leg enough to get my toes on the peg so this, along with my thumbshifter, allows me to keep riding.

Nice work Mad.
Great to see you back and enjoying the bike and road trips.
Gotta admit that apart from my exciting initial days learning to ride, I don't tend to ride alone anymore and will only generally head out with riders of similar ability and perfect weather.

One thing though.
Time for a hair cut???

Yannih, if I cut my hair ill lose all of my riding ability. Kinda like Hercules.
But the wind knots are a pain.
