No ABS but traction control???
10/12/11 12:31 PM

I don't know about anybody else but I want ABS as an option. I slid off the road a while back ABS would have prevented that from happening. It's an option everywhere else on these bikes old model included but not in the good old USA. How about the option to order one with it on at least. Does anybody else care what do you think?

Maybe it'll be an option for next year - later on it may be mandated. They're trying to do it in Europe and there's grumblings about mandating ABS in the US as well...

It reminds me of air bags in the 70's gov't was requiring them everyone was up in arms. You can't make us have air bags. Now everyone wqnts the safest possible car side air bags radar etc.

I went to a bike show one time. BMW had a kick ass ABS bike they first came out with. It was setup on rollers and you could not fall off it. It was not running, but the wheels would be turning off these electric rollers or we be sniffing so much fumes. It was a fast rotation of, get on-brake-get off bike. So everyone has a chance. The line was long of course.

Remember, this is slow tech back then. I pounded on the brakes and it chattered something fierce but still did it's thing, one rider after the other. Segway to a later down the road GS1150 with ABS. Like as soft as as cat's paw on the knitting, I panic stopped at a stop sign. Did not know there were tiny pebbles at that limit line. I slam lightly on the brakes, the ABS kicks in. I am tap-tap-tap with the front wheel going on and off. I am in a straight line, straight up, not even a flinch of wheel swapping over left to right in the steering dept.
You have ABS on accel, not on decel!
<<< This is not out in published form from the factory. I need to follow one handlebar front brake line hose to see some double work happening or not on the ABS question. It will be nothing but speculation till the dealer show.

The 2012 C14 comes standard with KTRC but you have to pay for ABS. That doesn't make sense either.

An ABS version would have been fine.. but I wouldn't want it. No use for ABS in the 1320. Just dead weight.
