Roaring Toyz got one of the pre-production ones to customize and display. Twisted Throttle got a 2012 C14 already, pre-production, to customize but they don't have it on display yet.

I'm sure Brock Davidson got one. Obviously Gadsen got one, or was using Brock's.

Its still not an R. Much as I like the new ZX14R, it doesn't deserve the R designator.

I kind of agree...R should be for some thing real sick and when it comes right down to it the new 2012 is not that far from what we have not....Don't be a hater just saying....

Hmm, not entirely true. But I don't have rose colored glasses on like some.

For one thing, it hasn't been ridden a couple thousand miles by Motorcyclist or Cycle World or anyone else for that matter who will tell us how it handles. It could be great, it could be just ok. So when someone is making claims for the 2012 that are mere bench racing, I sometimes post the realist view. If one can bench race, why can't I play devil's advocate?

Besides, how many times do I have say I think the 2012 ZX14R is a great bike, based on specs, before you realize its not just negative comments about the ZX14R?

Because I have a few concerns about it, like weight, swingarm length, the new KTRC (first time on a ZX14), and the geometry, doesn't mean I'm negative about it.

The R designator means a homologated race bike model. To race in WSB you have to sell homologated bikes to the public. WSB ZX10R, street ZX10R. Without the street version, there would be no race version, thats the rules.

Which is why I think MotoGP is irrelevant, having no homologation and hence no impact on street bike technology. Ever.

But I digress.

The ZX14R has no road racing lineage, no entry in road racing at all. So to me, it has no right to wear the R designator.

Well, heck, we are dumbing down our schools, and kids, and people can lie, cheat, and steal and we just try to figure out what we did to make them do that, so why not dumb down the definition of what an R-designated motorcycle is....

Ruse.

Didn't that article say that the ninja beat the Duc?And explained by how much?

Nobody knows what that ZX stands for?C'mon guys...someone has to know this one.

S'all good...I understand that some members here have had bad experiences with their bikes....probably kind of a 'letdown' with the unveiling of this new bike.I'd be pissed and disappointed as well if I had bought a brand new 'superbike' and the friggin thing blew up.Ya...I would be.Probably never buy another one of that brand.I get ya.

I've been fortunate with mine.VERY.So for me trading up is hopefully a good experience as this last one was.Who knows?

Yes it says those #'s beat the Duc... But that's about 7 hp more than the current 14... To me, that makes the "R" more Ruse than Revolution.

Got it wrong, Blue... I bought another zx14, didn't I?... and I currently own 4 Kawasaki sportbikes.

R usually means, 'race.' The 14 was introduced as a race bike. RPM leave light. RPM shift light. Slow me a touring bike with a staging rpm, a select rpm light; which rpm you want to shift at? I didn't think so.

10mm swing arm extension means more R for race. More, leave from the gate all stable at the front. This is not R for revision. R for revamped. Z1 says first powerful bike. ZX means X for experimental. Z is the supersport line or superbike line.

No, I know they are wrong. But too many people are doing that. All you have to do is keep abreast of the news. Heck, whole part of the political left thinks we make terrorists destroy commercial buildings full of average people.

YesDogo...you did get another Kawi.I'm glad ya did...really.And I've been wrong before.Wouldn't be the first time.Everyone's entitled to their opinions.I'm more glad you didn't get killed with what happened..could have easily turned out REAL BAD.Just so ya know....if I didn't say it already....I truly wasn't dissin your riding skills...honestly.I'm sorry if I offended ya...didn't mean to...not at all.You won't see me scraping...too friggin scared to go THAT far.Guess that's what it really comes down to.It's still beyond me though how I can hit curves, pretty deep ones,at 140+ and STILL not even scrape a peg.Geez.IDK what the hell I'm doin wrong!I KNOW I'm leaned in..WAY in.But.....no luck. Can't get any battle scars on my lowers!

blue07, I got my scrape getting too close to a curb on a center divider on a left turn. Pissed me off, too, carbon fiber is expensive. Oh well....

It sure didn't come from hanging off and getting it, the only thing I've gotten lately is the neighbor lady.
