So this has been on my mind for a while, and thought I should post it here and see.
I had the TRE on my bike, and I took out the flies and went for a quick ride (with TRE/6th gear still on the bike), and of course it felt pretty responsive to the throttle and all was well. After the quick test ride, I put in the PC3 and loaded a map from dynojet (slip on, no flies) and went for another test drive and it was all good too. Then I took the TRE off, but never went for a test drive after.
A couple of days later I rode the bike to work and back, and although I loved the way it now behaved, I kinda sorta felt that it wasn't as 'jumpy' as it was on my second test ride (with the PC3 and TRE still in). Now we are not talking a considerable amount of difference, just a very little difference, and frankly it could very well be all in my imagination.
I don't feel like putting the TRE back in for now (just no time to spend in the garage, really), but was wondering if anyone else knows whether there is actually any timing retardation taking place or not in the first few gears. I have tried to compare throttle response between 5th gear and 6th gear on the freeway back to back, and can't really say if there is any difference or not... but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there is timing retard being done in lower gears.
I have been thinking about going with the TRE (neutral) to eliminate the popping, but the popping doesn't bother me enough to justify losing my gear indicator again. (I like having it.)
So, has anyone done any with/without TRE comparison (flies out)?
