GPR V4
03/16/14 1:19 PM

Absolutely flawless upgrade. After riding with it turned off to 0, and then with it on at various settings, this bike should have come with one! :)) I love it! Can't say enough about the noticeable change. Laser like precision. 20 position adjustable. For hitting the twisties I run it at about 5-6, she gives rock solid AMG like stability at lean, and when driving off corner hard enough to lift the front end an absolute LASER track where you want her. Hit some hard sixth gear burns and cranked her up to position 12. Perfect stability. Confidence inspiring at ANY ANGLE!

I give it my highest recommendation. I know it eats up that center post position which might be useful for a tech-mount, but in this case I demanded form follow function and I am very glad I did. Tech mount also offers several bar mounts which obfuscates the need to keep her hole open. ;)
(That's wot she said)

That's what I'll be getting when I finally purchase a steering damper!

Nice. I have the ohlins damper and although it works great it's a pain in the arse to adjust the small dial. Your set up looks nicer and looks a lot more user friendly.

Thanks Beast! And thanks to all for the compliments! Beast, that thing took a total of about twenty minutes to install. Very easy, about a 2 on the difficulty scale. Only thing to be certain of, make sure when lockin down the steering stem nut they provide that you torque to spec. (58 ft.lbs.). Then the braket that mounts in place of ur front tank bolt. This bracket needs to be fitted and lined up carefully. Don't scratch tank. Other than those points to note, it is super easy and very linear in its operation! I love it! :)

Cblast,

Do u remember what size socket you used to remove the stock nut, I measured it at 1.414 in. so 36mm and the GPR nut looks like its 1.382 in. or 35 mm is this right?? I have to buy the sockets to do the job .. you inspired me! I have the GPR V4 now I need the sockets.

Nice add cblast. I had a PBR on my R6 and I loved it. I know two totally different animals but still the same style stabilizer. Very easy to use.

Hey crude! Both are a 36mm! Remember to torque that sucker to 58ft.lbs. this is a critical fastener. Torque spec is important! Absolutely love my GPR!

Forgive me if this has been asked before....I did try and search for it!

I just installed the same GPR as CBlast shows ^^^^^^.......and was wondering if anyone who has installed theirs used locktite on any of the 5mm hex bolts. I didn't for now but if I have to take it off and re-do it I will.

Thanks CBlast for pointing out the torque spec for the steering stem nut and the 36mm socket size!!! Made my life alot easier knowing which socket I had to go buy.

The only difficulty I had with this was the two main 5mm hex bolts that hold the unit to the mounting bracket were very tight fitting. At first I thought I had stripped one of the bolts when I couldn't hand tighten it any more and started using the wrench. It turned out the factory coating on the bolts was the problem. I guess it's just a tight fit!!

Hey bud, I noticed a similar thing with the stock bolts. I didnt use any loctite, but I double check the fastners pretty regular. I actually use a little yamalube grease on them. I am pretty constant with the maitenance and checking fastners though. I like to know my steering dampener is tight before every ride. With a 5mm T-handle you can check them in 3seconds.

Thanks CBlast, I'll keep a close eye on it.....Mods to steering components always make me nervous.

Wolf I'm glad to hear it works well and GPR replaced it. They have alot of good reviews. The roads in Alberta are shitty at best which is why this was one of the first things I did to the bike!!
