Buell Peg Mod Problem
05/01/09 5:00 PM

Hi guys, just registered, first post. I have an 08 Silver that I am setting up to fit my 6'5" frame a bit better. Based on what I had read about the Buell footpeg mod, I went for it. I love what it did for the legroom department. I also moved the shifter down one spline to accomodate the lower peg, but now I have another issue: My foot now gets hung up on the kickstand when shifting. Have any of you experienced this? If so, how have you addressed it? I was thinking that hacking off the little "nub" that sticks out in the middle of the kickstand might help, but i thought I'd check here first. Thanks in advance!

Yup, just wacked off the nub, left about 1/4" to hook my heel on to flip it down - works just fine. One of the best mods I've done ( 6'2" ) for comfort as my 50+ year old knees dont fold up like they used to ( well not for long anyway )with Convertibars and the Buel pegs I now have the sport touring rig with no equal.

Yeah, I agree. I did the peg mog, and added the Helibar risers. I went for the first ride since changing those items the other day, and was really surprised how different the bike felt with such seemingly minor mods. I'm still getting used to it. I was paranoid I was going to drag the pegs at tiny lean angles due to the pegs being lower, so I had to lean the bike way over while I was standing next to the bike (stationary) to see that I would nearly have to be dragging a muffler before I would drag a peg! So now I just need to get used to the new roominess! By the way, I hacked off the nub and life is great again. Thanks guys!

I didn't move the shift lever at all, don't seem to have a problem shifting. Haven't had to hack on the kickstand yet.

I did move the brake lever down a good bit though, it was already too high for the way I like to use it anyway.

With Genmars (full inch rise) and the modded Buell XB pegs, and the Spencer-modded seat, I am much more comfortable now.
