Question..... Why dont you guys use Kawasaki Oil??
Cuz it's not synthetic and Rotella is and costs the same. IDK if Rotella is any better but it's no worse than Kaw oil. I change at 2500 with either one. Same price.

I just changed the Motul 300V 10W-40 after 3300 miles, not because I thought it needed changing or the shifting was starting to get chunky. But I needed to install a drain plug drilled for lock wire required for the Mojave Magnum LSR. The old oil with 3300 miles on it was still green and did not appear dirty (bike has 4300 total miles now). The new oil seems to shift the same, smooth and crisp, as the oil with 3300 miles on it. My plan is to run this oil for 5000 miles and then send a sample to Blackstone for wear contaminates and other used oil data.

"20w50 being a little thicker can cause clutch plates to stick a little more. Probably makes shifting a little more difficult." Vic, you are right. I should have purchased 10W-40. Castrol was 10W-50 so as you say I should feel the difference.
"I would only use it in the summer in a hot, desert climate."Danno, temperature here went up to 91 yesterday. I am expecting a hot summer and thought I would need 20W-50.
"Question..... Why dont you guys use Kawasaki Oil??" Chrly, local Kaw dealer sells Kaw Full Synthetic for $16/qt. I thought it was too much compared with Valvoline. Kawasaki as far as I know doesn't do oil manufacturing. That means they use someone as OEM and then put their logo on the bottle. If that is the case, I thought non-Kaw brand would be as good.
Anyway, I will try Motul 10W-40 for the next time and see what happens.
