Well personally I'm kinda glad that the 14 isn't changing. I think it will help drive down the price on aftermarket performance parts. Leave the motor a lone for a few years. It worked for the zx11, and the gen1 busa, you could get those parts fairly cheap. IMO

Yup, we were living in a gilded age the last ten years and nobody knew it. Trickle down MotoGP technology, two year product cycles, EZ credit and a market flooded with inexpensive, high tech motorcycles. Thought it would last forever! Yes, we got spoilt butt those dayz may now be over for good.

Us having guns makes them very frightened, very frightened

Not trying to hijack this thread but you bring up a good point Donny. They... ( bildebergs, illuminati, shadow government, whatever you choose to call them) are scared to death of private ownership of weapons. We the citizenry, if armed, are a major obstacle to their taking complete control. Expect major changes in gun control laws coming down the pike. Buy guns and plenty of ammo, unless I'm wrong your going to need them.

Saw a new 2010 "red" '14 today whilst getting mine serviced. It's not red like the '06 came in, it's a deeper, metallic red. Looks quite classy to me, but not so sporty. A matter of taste anyways.

I'm getting new boots put on mine at the same place next week (& a 16T front) so will try and get a photo if it's still there.

Through my riding career I always wanted a bike that would give me the rush I was looking for. I found it in hopped up big-bore 2 stroke dirt bikes...but on the pavement I never really got my fix until my current machines. Honestly tho, with the technology behind the big-bores now, and with some gearing and other hop-up parts....I'm finding that the law and road conditions now dictate how much of a rush I can get...not the bikes. I'm not so sure how much performance room their is left at the top of the sportbike food chain anymore for street ridden bikes. Its really gotten hard to stretch the throttle cables on these big bikes as much as I'd like, they use up so much room so quickly that the more I mod the harder it seems to really enjoy the ride the way I want to, which involves lots of throttle alot of the time I'm really starting to wonder what the heck I'm actually going to be able to do with a turbo 14 on the road I almost miss the days when 115 rear wheel ponies thrilled me....I'm getting so power jaded I hate to say it but that might be one of the reasons I seem to be getting a little bored with riding lately

Big Bad Wolf, you make a good point. Once you start down that path in life where you gotta always have more...money, influence, fame, power (fill in the blank here) it's never ending. You gotta learn to be satisfied with what you have...at least that's the conclusion I've come to. I sure hope that turbo project works out good for you, it sounds like you're coming to the point of diminishing returns on investment though. That's where you start spending more and more bucks but getting less bang outta each buck. I remember you were ecstatic when you first got your flies out and plugged in 'ol Ivan's map, we couldn't shut you up! LOL! I've decided I have enough now. I started focusing on using all that power in the turns, much more of a challenge than in a straight line and that keeps me seriously entertained. Also holds my speed down, 110 mph with your knee down is more exciting than 160 on the straight away. Have fun big guy and ride safe!

I raced an '88 Pro Circuit Honda CR500 Motocrosser and nothing has ever given me the same thrill as that big red rocket coming off the line. I have to admit, the 14 was almost a disappoinment by comparison. The difference is the CR ran out of gear at about 80-90 mph while the 14 keeps on going and going and......!

Are you seriously doing this Kruz? That's impressive I must say!

A little hyperbole there aussie but I do like to crank and bank in the high speed corners.

Its interesting, for a good portion of my riding career I was content to mostly cruise, with some wot blasts here and there. But as the bikes have gotten faster, its taken more throttle more often to keep me entertained. You're right Big K, I need to break the addiction to constant throttle wacking (oh my lol) The throttle has become the reason I ride now....I need to incorporate some other factors back in, like more cornering, or maybe even a track day or some drag strip time. And I won't be doing anymore mods to my bikes. Like you said, its time to appreciate what I have....any more modding will be a waste for me on the street lol.

Where are you at on that turbo project Bad? I was thinking that thing would scare the bejeebers out of ya! I think we're all addicted to speed but it can get expensive and dangerous if taken to the extreme.I've had to back it down a little. Do you have some good twisties nearby? I really like the high speed stuff where you're hanging off the inside of the bike, the 14 seems to excel at that stuff with it's supreme high speed stability. You're still cooking along pretty good and gettin your adrenaline fix for the day but you're not into low flying jet velocities. That's one of the reasons I bought the literbike, to expand the envelope a bit.

I've got to get out and finish up the turbo....I got a bit of the flu lately and haven't been up to much. I got her about halfway done....but I'm also installing a second fan with manual switch, changing the coolant out, adding 2 gauges and an LM-1 data-logger, installing a lock up clutch, putting on a radiator guard, fixing the famous valve cover leaks, swapping out the oil pan, and a few other things I can't remember at the moment lol. This has been QUITE the project. No bike work for me after this for the next year or so My wife bought me a vid cam for the bikes tho....so I'm going to film the maiden voyage and let you guys can come along for the ride, good or bad Even at my elevation I should be getting 240 or so to the ground I would think. At stock length and height, with one tooth up in back, its prolly gonna be a little scary I'm sure. It should also spice of my riding abit too tho lol.
And yep I do have some great twisties by me...and some awesome high speed sweepers as well. I just need to get my butt on them. The only prob is they're getting more and more patrolled
