Anything 10/40 to begin with.Meaning....Dino oil all the way to full syn.Long as it's certified JASO or whatever.Motorcycle oil naturally.Just to let ya know...my dealer guy said I could run the original oil to 600 miles(like the book says)....he shook his head(like..."don't do that") when I said..."I'll ride er about 20 miles then change the oil"....Gonna do mine just like the manual says...600 miles.Maybe there's some sort of relation with the oil staying in there and parts getting adjusted...IDK...but I did install a magnetic plug on mine.I think the jury is still out on 'going full synthetic' straightaway. But maybe it would be just fine,IDK.The manual doesn't say....DON'T.I'm also wondering now thinking about this...my oil has the color of the brake fluid...light yellow. This was put in by the dealer...when I mentioned the oil deal...he said...don't worry,we'll take care of ya....we have a procedure we do(as per Kawasaki)about filling the oil and such.I really wasn't sure WHAT he was talking about...but I'm guessing that the bike MAY have come with Kawasaki oil from Japan(separate). The bike itself had no oil in it when I went to go look at her that first day...and I said"she doesn't have any oil"...he said what I told you here.So I don't know WHAT the deal was(or is) with the dealer prep and fluids procedures.I guess they don't come with oil anymore shipped in em...which is new to me.
APPARENTLY...(I'm not gonna do it myself...I don't think)you can use Full Syn straight outta the crate.Doesn't say anything about "waiting 3 oil changes" or anything like that.I'm most likely gonna go full syn at the third Dino change. My 07 liked that.
