"Ok, so both the H2 and the H2R make the exact same boost 20.5"...35psi.

Restricted Throttle plates...soon to be...unrestricted;)They both continue to make(more) boost all the way to the rev limiter.

Honestly guys what do you really think after reading that?????? Would you buy one ?

Negative here Romans, too much maintenance and initial cash outlay for me, I couldn't use the power where I live now anyway, the 600 is my favorite machine out here in the twisties, H2 is overkill.

Actually, the new 1299 Panigale has my interest right now but still too much money.

The H2 stops climbing at 10.5.The H2R...at 14K.Raising the rpm limiter on the H2 to 13K is gonna raise the SC output also,as it does with the H2R.It's really that simple.Of course, with the increase in SC output...there'll be an increase in HP and TQ.Fueling will increase this as well.

From another site.."If you want to see brand loyalty, just buy a Ducati. They will disown you as soon as your check clears".

"too much maintenance"...I wouldn't say that actually. If you're talking about the H2R,then yes.The H2...not nearly as finicky maintenance wise. Two things of serious importance.Supercharger axial play checks, and fuel pump replacement at 30K.Other than that, nothing really major. It's pretty well average compared to a 14.

The spark plugs don't get inspected or changed until 30K...sounds good to me.

The H2 stops climbing at 10.5

Where did you read this ? Even so, hard to make additional 10 pounds of boost in 3500 RPM in a gear driven turbo. Would think the Ramp would be more linear than a exhaust driven turbo. I must do more reading. Info starting to flow now.

Guhl Motors' H2/H2R ECU Dyno Testing - Preliminary Results

As you may already know, we've spent the last couple days at Adam's Performance, dyno testing Rickey Gadson's H2/H2R Hybrid.

As you can see by the dyno graph, there are 3 different graphs. I'll explain each in detail, but first, we must understand the bike that we had for testing. It is neither an H2 nor H2R. It is an H2 bike with the power plant and exhaust from the H2R (as far as anyone can tell :-) ). Without getting into too much techie detail, I believe that the code in his ECU is pre-production and quite possibly not the production H2R code. The air intake snorkel and air filter are from the H2, which are likely much more restrictive than the H2R. I believe that the H2R air filter has roughly 5 times more surface area than the H2 air filter.

The details about the bike are included so that no one gets the idea that these results are "normal". Further testing is planned as soon as production H2 bikes become available. Only until that testing is done will we know the true potential of either bike with various modifications.

The H2 ECU that I have was purchased directly from a Kawasaki dealer, so it has to be production code. It appears that the parts made it here long before the bikes did!

The BLUE line: This is the H2 ECU with a very few modifications. I could not run the ECU totally stock on this bike without getting various error codes. I disabled the O2 sensor, Exhaust Servo Motor, Pair valve, and charcoal purge canister valve error codes. I also installed proper fuel maps for the H2R motor. All additional settings were left totally stock, including the 13000 RPM rev limit. This run showed us 237.9 Hp with 111.67 ft-lb torque.

The RED line: This is the H2R ECU totally unchanged, just the way it was delivered by Kawasaki (I lied... At Rickey's request, I did raise the rev limit to 14800 RPM before we did this test. Everything else was stock). Presumably this result will be what the stock H2R will produce, 277.40 Hp and 115.18 ft-lb torque.

We then derestricted the stock H2 ECU and produced identical results as the RED line. This confirms that we have the capability to reflash the H2 ECUs to derestrict them. We stopped messing with the stock H2 ECU once I was able to reproduce the power of Rickey's ECU.

The GREEN line: Of course it's green... We are working with a Kawasaki, right? This graph is the result of several hours of tuning to find any additional performance left in the ECU. We also raised the rev limit to 15000 RPM. The more we raised the rev limit, the more power it made (the boost continues to climb as the engine revs higher). Rickey and Coby both felt that the engine would handle it in their application. It sure sounded amazing and no video could ever do it justice! It made 301.23 Hp and 116.68 ft-lb torque at the rear wheel! At 14500 RPM we were able to tune Rickey's ECU to produce an additional 40 HP. This bike is RIDICULOUS!

On a humorous note... The exhaust gasses were so hot during the runs that the copper tube inserted into the muffler to capture the air/fuel readings would get so hot that it would totally glow bright red and blow out of the muffler like a wet noodle! We ended up replacing it with a stainless steel version!

Some other details...
The testing was done over the course of 2 very long days with an ice storm rolling in and out.
The fuel used for all of the testing was VP Q16, a high octane oxygenated fuel. Check Q16 Spec Sheet for additional information.
The air filter was removed. This was removed during previous dyno tuning with the power commander equipment. I was informed that the performance improved when it was removed, but no one was sure by how much because several things were changed at one time.
All of the tuning was done in the ECU only. All of the power commander equipment was removed before any testing was done.

What's next?
Rickey and I are planning to get together once the weather gets nicer to do some on-track testing and tuning. We are planning on refining the quick shifter timing values and the launch control settings, as well as some additional timing and fueling adjustments. We will likely refine many additional settings to help with launches.

Hopefully it won't be long until the H2 street models get delivered, so we can start our R&D to deliver another excellent ECU reflashing product!

I'll likely post additional details as I can remember them.

Enjoy!!!

"Where did you read this ?"IF I remember correctly,it was stated by Don in one of his earlier posts. When we were talking about noise and emissions restricting for the H2.I THINK it may also have been on a posted Dyno sheet. You could clearly see the power climb stop at 10.5.

This post however is much better.Better results I mean. Thanks Romes;)The 10.5 throttle limit is right here....

Those BHP numbers are certainly impressive but how come the torque numbers are so low? That's no more than a 14R produces at just over half the revs. ????

IDK.I'm sure though that Don is sorting this out.IDK if the tq values can be raised.I would think so.There's still a LOT of unknowns with these two ECU's right now.Whatever seems lacking,I think Don is qualified to figure all this out.But even so,if the tq values are what they are, that hp is gonna make this bike pull...hard.Unless I misinterpret what I'm hearing and seeing(from Don).

I do think that these tq values are very much in the forefront of his testing. Now that he knows the HP is available for both bikes. We know the 14 has room for more tq.I can't imagine this bike being any different.

I'm getting the impression that this is going to be a 'revvy' motor. I was expecting it to behave more like a big cube engine but it doesn't appear to be the case. It has less torque than a 14R even at almost twice the RPM's. It certainly has a lot more BHP than a 14R but all of the extra is way above 10000rpm where the the 14 makes it's max. From the figures so far I just can't see it having the low down/midrange grunt of the 14 which for me is a huge + and a big grin factor of the 14. It's obviously early days yet with the H2 tuning but just my initial thoughts. JMO

If you compare the 14Rs sheet at half the boost of H2. No denying the torque of the 1441cc Motor.

14R Dyno sheet below shows what 10 lbs of Boost will produce SAE Smoothing 5. Convert to STD will be over 200 plus

Now that is some serious arm stretching torque, right where you want it for the road!!

VERY nice.

Lots of fun too. Very hard to explain. Boosted bikes are a blast to ride. Keep in mind they do not make any Arm Stretching Power unless you load the Turbo. They drive around daily duties same as any other bike. Your wrist is the Governor. She really is just a big kitten.

However, if you take your wrist and snap it to wide open it's show time. Power is always waiting for you the rider to cut it loose. That Mega Rush of power and torque Never Gets Old.

For example, if you Look closely at the Dyno sheet. At 5000 RPM your at 100hp and a 100 foot pounds of torque. Now look again where you are in 1200 RPM further up the scale. That's the Wow. To gain over 100 hp and 75 ftlbs of torque in such a very very short period of time is beyond belief. The smile in your helmet last for hours.

Dyno sheets only tell part of the story. If you ever get a chance to Throw a leg over a boosted bike go for it.

I'm dying to ride a lightweight H2 with the Guhl Flash In play. Interesting to see how many go for it as Warranty goes out the window.

-8 here this AM.

Roads are clear but limited parking from all the ice buildup on the curbs. Lots of salt but so %&^% cold it doesn't do much below 0. I'm waiting until end of March at the earliest. One month away! I'm looking forward to seeing the H2, Grn.
