Well, I decided to go with a top case after all. I went with a Kappa K53N top case for the size and because I could key the locks of the top case and side cases the same. I think it was the angle of the pictures of your bike that made it look so high. Decided I wanted someplace to stash my helmet and jacket (as you said).

I'm going to put running/stop/turn lights into the case. I'll be using a 5 contact door jamb ( https://www.keepitcleanwiring.com/catalog/Wire-Management/Modular-Door-Contacts/KICSDXP5/Modular-Door-Jamb-Contact-Set-(5-Contacts) ) to connect the wiring between the case and the bike so I don't have to plug anything in - just pop the case on and the connection will be made. I'll post pics of the light setup after I get it done (just waiting on the door jamb contacts).

Can't take a good outdoor pic right now because there's two feet of snow and ice outside so ignore the mess behind the bike. :)

Looks great!

I've still been looking around for a possible replacement for my ZX set up as a tourer, and I just cannot find anything looks anywhere near as good, for a sport tourer.

My set comes complete with a pair of stainless muffler drop brackets made by Muzzys.

Well, I'm all packed up and ready to hit the road in 10 hours. Here's the final touring setup:

and here's how the lights turned out on the top case. When they're off you can't tell they are there - all behind the lense

Michigan - could be as little as 2,800 miles. But I'm taking 2 weeks for the trip and am going to have lots of fun on the way down and back. I figure I'll probably put at least 5k on the bike in the next 2 weeks. Off to bed - sure hope I can get some sleep!

You'll love COTA and the MotoGP. And Austin is a hoot. If you have time, Texas Hill Country is only about 125 miles from Austin-probably the best motorcycle-riding area in the State.

IT's an older thread but still contains the information I'm looking for.

I've got a '17 14R SE - The sw-motech will fit even though they are for a 1st gen? - looks like it worked well on extrapolator's bike. I hate to ask questions already answered but I don't have dispensable income to spend on wrong bike parts. Bikes got 2 brothers exhaust, and I have another muzzy setup if it needs to be changed around.

sw-motech 06-11 luggage rack

Thank you

I've no information on the luggage. But regarding the exhaust, I went from the TBR slipons to the R77's like Steve has in the above pictures and I can tell you that the R77's are considerably larger. Meaning that If Steve can run them with the R77's it shouldn't be a problem with TBR's.

Yes, that’s the correct rack and yes it will work on your ‘17. Depending on the size of your mufflers you may have to make a strap to lower them a bit. I have Yoshimura slip ons on mine and they fit great with no lowering of them needed.

That's correct that the luggage fits perfectly on my bike. I have Muzzy slipons and no muffler lowering was required. (Muzzy is out of biz now, last time I looked anyway ... which makes me ).

I find myself checking out adventure bikes pretty often, cuz many of them look cool, but I just can't do it: They "look" like they have suspension travel and are ready to go offroad, but I just don't think it'd be all that. Better on a limerock road than my ZX, sure, but for actual offroading, like trails with jumps and bumps and sand and roots and rocks and trees, I don't think so. Most of them weigh a lot, there's not that much travel, and the tires have very minor knobs. And they're expensive! So I'm stickin with my big ZX in combination with this:

I'm with you. Kawasaki and Muzzy have always gone hand in hand. I felt like I was cheating when I put the Yosh slipons on my 14. I've not been able to find a story on what happened.

Got the mounting brackets installed this afternoon. The instructions left a little to be desired but really not that bad. The rear cross member didn't work on my bike because I'm running a fender eliminator. The issues is still salvageable though. Will post pictures later, install took a little over an hour between me finding other stuff to play with in the garage and the dog going in and out.

Now it's time to spend the $530 on the bags so I can tighten everything down and ride again.

I was able to still use the connecting piece at the back with a fender eliminator - I just don't leave it on the bike all the time. When I put the mounts on I add that piece. Even if it's not connected it still helps distribute the load.

Exactly my thoughts, should keep the frame from flexing from bumps. Will tie it into the plate so it tightens everything up even though that won't add much support. Put the windshield on today since it's been sitting around for a few months...... No just gotta find a wire under the seat that's ignition "on" to run a relay for a USB charger.

Should be done in a few weeks with everything. Spring really doesn't hit here until mid March but it's warm enough all winter long to take an afternoon ride.
