Nasty I bathe and wash using a car high spec liquid soap. I then use McGuyeres wax. I used to wax plastic and everything, but having read zx racer I will look into pledge. I'm not sure if I got the spelling right, on the brand.

I try not to wash her lots as sometimes that just adds scratches. That said Pledge and hot water wash and rinse is that your suggestion Zracer?

I never wash windscreen, dials and instro cluster. I use the same cloth that I use to clean eyeclases and after a wet cloth soak I gently dry those areas with the eyeglasses cloth. .

Pledge would work great......... for a trailer queen. Pleadge will get hazy after a week and there you are having to risk scratches to buff it back to a shine.
Btw Dude they use the exact paint for both the plastic and metal. Don't give me this shit that it ain't good for painted plastic. What it ain't good for is unpainted plastic and matte surfaces like the frame. Like Wolfman said, it should only get washed when it needs it and the only time you should wax is when it begins to lose its sheen and the water don't bead off like it used to. Usually all you need is a good handwashing.
When you are detailing the most important thing to remember, cleanliness is next to godliness. Its not so much about who's or what product you use, it comes down to using good clean rags and wash mitts and knowing how to use them properly.
And NEVER USE DISHSOAP!!!!!

Now that I think about it, pledge on the rims might work pretty good. I'll try it out on them later yet today.

Trailer queen??? All I know is this is my 11th street bike and I never put water on any of them just wipe down the bugs and road grime after every ride with honda polish or pledge. If it doesn't sound good to you nasty so be it. Just giving my experience. My bikes ALWAYS look mint....... or as you say trailer queen I guess. I show my pride with my bike and when I go out for a ride it looks great! !!!! Oh by the way I only use microfiber clothes NOTHING else. And nasty never used pledge but he knows hit will haze in a week???? Mine look hazy???

Can't empasize how important it is to mitigate washing to when she needs it. But Nasty mad love on your suggestions on wax. Z racer I am going to try the pledge in the rims. Lastly gents I drape a wet cloth on the plastcs to moisten bugs and then I gently sop them up with the micro! I avaid scrubbing especially on the wind screen.
It really is an obsession, for me at least!
Peace boys!

Oh had some areas where the seat meets the frame wrapped in 3 m film. Looks great and keeps these surfaces clear of scuffs for a long time.

Easy sweetheart, I was just voicing my thoughts and opinions about it. I didn't call your bike a trailer queen. Don't get me wrong dude, I really like the idea of using it on the rims and am down for giving it a try.

Wolfman, that 3M, Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing, film sounds like a good idea. I'd like to try that on the lower front cowling right behind the wheel to preserve it some from the rocks.

Yeah dude I actually came across this company last night and was going to buy the heel guards tonight and checkout their quality before buying the rear hugger. Thanks for reminding me, Wolfman, totally forgot about it.

If it all works out I think I'll buy the belly pan later down the road as well!

Every time I clean the bike it's with plenty of water and some non abrasive 'bike cleaner' detergent which I buy in 25 litre barrels from the TRF (offroad riding club) for £1/litre and a soft car wash sponge or cloth etc. Then leather off with a synthetic chammy. This is the only way to clean without scratching IMO. You really don't want to be using car shampoos containing wax and, as said, dish washing detergent is a big NO NO! 'Dry cleaning' the bike with sprays or polishes is a sure way to ruin the finish and for people who worry about getting their bike wet.
Cleaned all my bikes this way. My R1, sold last year, was 7 years old, done 24k miles in some of the shittiest weather you've ever seen and it could pass for 6 months old so I know this method works. I gave the 14 the ACF 50 treatment from new so wet weather riding worries me not as far as the bikes finish is concerned. JMO

Polishing a bike doesn't ruin a finish come on now. I had an 05 busa for 6 years and polished it all the time, and when I traded it in on a gsxr 1000 they thought I took amazing care of it. Granted it was garage kept but dont put on the internet that it will ruin it, some dumbasses might actually believe you. I have never seen prove of a polish only bikes finish look bad or ruined.......hell ive done it for most of my 11 or so bikes. Lets face it people we all do are own thing and I'm more than sure they all work MORE than just fine as long as your not an idot. It seems we all have pretty nice looking bikes. With todays clear coats you would really have to screw up to ruin the finish. I'll have to post my 04 busa pics when I sold her, its the black and purple one, you wouldn't believe how pretty she looked with polish up keep.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. You'll notice I said clean the bike, not polish it. How did you actually clean your bike when it was dirty from road film, mud splashes, salt spray, dead bugs etc?. Washing the bike and then polishing is one thing and beneficial. The wax car shampoo's I've tried will remove road film but won't remove any oily/greasy deposits such as chain fling off on the rear wheel, front sprocket area etc which a detergent cleaner will. The point I was making was attempting to remove road dirt with polishes and sprays without using water isn't advisable 'cos where does the dirt go? It's trapped in the cloth. In fact the instructions on all the polishes I've come across advise washing the bike/vehicle first to remove any abrasive particles.

Totally makes sense pegs. Truth be told I keep my bike as clean as that picture above and when I get home from a ride I wipe it down right away. And I never ride on wet roads ever. If there is a chance of rain or roads are wet I usually stay in. Where I live in the summer we have plenty of dry spells. So I wait to ride then. Like I said earlier I don't ride as much as I used to. So when I ride its usually beautiful out. Usually at the most I have dead bugs all over my headlight area and they come right off when I get home. And I obviously flip the cloth to the clean side after cleaning them off to apply the polish. Then when done I get a new cloth for the next time. Have a shit load of them and when I get low........washer time.

Boys my philosophy is rain, sun, turbo wind, I RIDE, FFFFFFFFFFFFk it, it's a new philosophy, I used to ride on choice days only...no way. I ride, and wash when she is home. I'm not going to forgo enjoyment for immaculate showmanship. At my age, can't keep up!

I here ya wolf I was like that to, but after 11 bikes and 20+years of riding not as much passion for riding unless its a nice day out. And like I said im usually so busy with working and upkeep on my new property I dont have as much free time. And I cant see any enjoyment riding in the pouring rain personally.

bro riding in the rain is the place to holn your skills. With good rubber you;d be amazed what u can do. Plus i was referring more to days when you wake up sunny and the weatherman warns of afternoon showers. I actually remember leaving it at home and rejoicing when it did rain and cursing when it didn't. I just don't care anymore. If I'm up with the sun, we are off! Eff it man, gotta ride!
