You are pretty safe from any cage out there. I beat every one easily on my 2008 14. Not even a challenge unless you get some kinda feakazoidal boost monster or something.

600 will embarrass you in close quarters. No shame. Don't even try.

The liter bikes always had us from 100 to about 160 where we pulled on them. I am sure the 14r has the game evened up once again. At least for the moment.

From what I hear, that Panigale will crush you. It weighs the same as a 600 and makes 200 hp. Don't here much about those on the street. I guess no one can afford one.

I would say you own everything you are likely to come across for the next 3 or 4 years. There will come a day, trust me it comes. You make your move then. To me, 5 years is just getting to know the bike really well. I'm holding on to my old 14 a few more years.

Yes, you can outrun a police car (even the fast ones) but not the Motorola.

Rook, I was reading about the Panigale 1198 and it is pretty awesome. I too was struck by how light it is.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that in Sunday's WSB race, Checa just motored inside Sykes on lap 10 and was gone from there to the end of the race.

I think the cop and chop is a given:

From a roll on = Not much.
From a standing start = You got a problem.
From corner to corner = You've got another problem.
From 100% cotton briefs = Who wears the nutsack, the brain or the balls?
From soup to nuts = Takes balls my friend. Big, huge, no one leaves the building balls. No one is safe. What were you thinking. Come on, you've got to be kidding me... Look in the mirror... Tap your heels 3 times... Say, "My balls are big, throttle grip, my balls are thick, throttle grip, I can dog due dis in my undies."

Roll on = Do you stab down and go, or do you stab and burn the clutch out? Get it?

Standing start = If you are not in the narrow deep in the focus, out and out mean at the levers and cables. Get it?

Like if I did a walk on and took out RG, would be like, "I was doing 130 on the banking, and you asked if he took it out of 1st gear, you slap his ass down the front shoot/back straight/take him out that way. Get the drift?

I don't give a shit WOT you ate for breakfast. If you didn't have a good night's sleep before you go out to do damage, you should not even get out of bed. You are not ready to do your think on someone. We awake yet?

We can go back to go pick a year, pick a bike of the year. Where were your balls then? Did you take it to the extreme or did you follow the pack? Look in the mirror. That bike is way too much and I am talking the pick a year or decade back. Not a thing has changed. Speed is relative. Balls are relative.

A pipe, a pc, a piss pipe filter does not grow the balls. A stock bike is going to eat you, if your nuts are not accessorize along with the mods.

Nope. That in my mountain roads, I could take with a 10-speed bicycle.

.....also, don't overlook the power of mods. An old bike with a good pipe and tune and reduced weight might give you a run for your money. Of course, some riders have a lot of experience racing which will make the biggest difference if both of you are committed.

Just be careful and have fun!

LOOOOL Hub I need to save this one! If you don't have the balls, having the biggest motor on two wheels in town don't mean doodoo.

Rook is right too. With the old 14 if you were going against a CBR 1000 you would have to take it to 160 mph to make a point!

Really what you should ask is who is the best rider in town and choose your fight carefully. You don't wanna bring the biggest gun to the brawl and get a spanking.

Priv, the announcers were saying the 10 had mtr on the Duc,I thought tires were the issue

Yeah after watching the race I agree. Tom had to take it easy. Checa is really experienced and knows how to make his tires last plus Kaw has been having issues with the rubber for a long time. Sykes could have pushed the issue a little more but apparently it was just too much of gamble 2nd v.s last

The last 8 or 9 laps, Sykes' 10R started stepping out on a couple of the turns on him.

Obviously the rear tire was gone or close to gone.

Kawasaki has to do something about this. Why can the Ducati keep up and pass everyone and still have plenty of traction from its tires?

I have watched Sykes now closely, in two races this season. He is ultra smooth, and until the tires start slipping, as fast as anyone on the track, if not faster. He doesn't make mistakes. If he was riding a Ducati as good as Checa's he'd be top podium every race this year.

Kawasaki is going to lose a young, improving, slick fast racer named Sykes to another factory team if they don't step up and solve this problem.

Trc, some day the cop in Nebraska will have a bear in the air in your vicinity, and they'll photograph your plate (the plane is faster than you, bud) and you'll lose your license.

Keep it up, thinking you are untouchable. Heh.

Here is one coming in 2013 which can take any of our bikes: 2013 Kawasaki ZX-1EV, all electric, 320+ horsepower at the rear wheel, under 500 pounds.

New battery and clutch technology has made it possible to build an electric bike which has incredible performance while allowing for a reasonable run time.

More info at Brock's Performance, they will be selling a de-restriction kit for the 1EV that will allow it to exceed 220 mph at the Texas Mile and similar venues.

Man, I might go all in on one, for something to ride in my mountains, and to blow away ZX10Rs and ZX14Rs with.

this is what I been waiting for.......

damn. can't believe I fell for that. Ah yes, it is April fool!

but really, I am sort of looking to the days of the electric bike with a somber anticipation---you know- no more gears, no scream of the engine---------no more maintenance or a lot less. Much of what I have learned will become useless.

Its coming. We really need battery tech and cooling tech to step up first.

As good as battery tech is, its only good for vehicles when you have short flat distances, or a small gasoline motor to charge it when it gets low.

And batteries get very hot during discharge. You think your bike cooks you now?

But one day, it will really be here. It won't be from Kawasaki though. It took them 6 years to come up with the ZX14R lol.

I doubt they will have a plane or a helicopter and I'm unaware of a plane that can take pictures of vertical pictures under a solid object and even if it can ever heard of the trick plate?

Part of the duration problem is the load on the electrics with only one gear and "rheostat" type motor speed and thereby vehicle speed regulation, IMO,for both electric cars and bikes. Using solid state switching methods to manage this variable speed control does nothing to significantly spare the batteries.

Including a good multi-speed transmission with an electromagnetic torque converter mounted tween engine and tranny would go a long way to increasing the performance of the EV's.

So, Rook, if that scenario became a reality; all your shifting skills would still apply and you might get adjusted to the whine of a high speed electric motor. Provided they don't engineer it out or regulate it. The slight odor of ozone in the air could become a heady experience as well.

Yes, Trc, I've seen trick plates. They are a violation of your state motor vehicle code. Keep it up, you'll get popped some day and lose your license.

And yes, the planes can photograph your license plate, and if they can't, they'll call ahead and road block you someday.

Just pointing out you are not invulnerable, is all.

PaulAB - they don't use rheostats on modern drag bikes. Its all solid state, just like the electronic fuse box on my Concours 14 which lets me control heated gear from a remote LED display, just much heavier duty.

I can't wait for the day to come, I really want to see the look on the sportbike club's eyes when I go past them on a mountain road and they never hear a thing as I do it.

Whooossshhhhhhh

privateer-I know, LOL! That's why I put it in quotes, attached type to it and then further opined that the solid state switching is a poor substitute to try to get around the losses in speed control of such a system; when use of a e&m torque converter (similar to slipper clutch in some ways) and retaining a tranny is in my humble opinion the way to increase perfomance both for power delivery and efficiency.

I did this in my first journey into electric transportation as an assistant at a home shop in 1965 or there abouts.
That converted Renault would wheelie off the line and then whirrrr along at a sedate speed all the time letting the motor run at full applied voltage. Speed controlled through the methods I already alluded to.

Parts were converted USAF surplus off jets.

Fun times till we blew up the power supply.

Oh well. I agree that ev is the future; and now it may be only a decade away from a ZX14 killer. We better improve our electric generation and distribution structure before everyone is charging their moto's each night.

Enough, I don't wish to be accused of hijacking this thread.

I know I'm just stating that in a town of 14,000 people with tons of long straight roads and few cops there are its unlikely they have another cop ahead within a 15 mile radius to stop me. This place is pretty good for speeding. There's a time and a place for everything

I lived in NE for a while! Scbluf is a small place and I doubt there are lots of cops. The downside is that there isn't a lot of bikes either. You're green machine is going to stand out and after you take some names, your zx-14R will be discussed at every police station water cooler in Scbluf. The day they see you doing as low as 5 mph over they'll stop you. Lincoln is way more populated and has more bikers but because my bike looks and sounds mean and I wear a sporty leather jacket I have been followed for a couple of miles or stopped for stupid reasons.
I don't wanna kill your buzz... just be careful!
