lol no top shelf all the way baby cream de la cream all the fun is had in world superbike where a set of wheels and brakes cost more than our bikes and they say that the Beemers are having issues with the eletrical there is so many things going on, its not all walking hand and hand so we will see. I think its kinda like windows Vista they put it out there even though it is not finished and when it shuts down they sell you up grades lol i hope that will not be the case as they have a lot on the line this thing. IT is taking all the shine right now but its funny that they seam to have went the other way with the 1300s or is it s1300 ,with less power and busa killing at the same time seams they want to say WE GOT IT ALL COVERED...

Rook said: Can a good comparison be drawn between the race results and stock bikes? If the rules are close to the USA type AMA rules, then no, you cannot compare a fuel box piggy/ported heads/cams/exhaust/Chassis mods way more open and liberal in WSB than in AMA SuperBike.

You see Kawi has come out with the world's fastest production bikes, are the Z1 and 14's for historical value. Once you combine all the bikes, Honda comes out tops in top speed. Right now, Honda is the fastest GP bike to date (this year). Mercedes Benz comes out with something brand new to race, they usually win first time out. I guess BMW corporate does not have that drive/attitude to bring out a bike to compete is to be an, "also ran?"

If that beemer needs tons of special tools to breakdown the engine, this is not an everyman race bike like the typical Japanese bike. The Big4's are so simple it takes nothing more than a bunch of T-handles to tear down the bike.

'German made' reminds me how that 1000RR is one more RAG on the ROAD... Blood in the streets is some bmw in the way of my line...

"... however, we "suggest" the editors choose, 'rain mode' as if the flies where still in the, 2006 14."

"On pay per view, that fig you're reading this is to distort a 1/2Truth, as the bike can only muster up 80 some odd pounds of torque, while the most shittyeast running 14, bangs out 103 pounds of torque. You better pull a spark plug off the 14 mode is ride this shit-0-piece-0-shit in race mode."

Would I be hankering for what looks on paper like a dream bike? Well, yeast, why not pay out the dough for a few crumbs of HP? But to live with that headache down the road; if I know a BMW is go shove that ride up your ump pa pa clockinnsteen is time will tell.

Fuhgives muh ignance....are deseses more or less stock bikes or are we talking top shelf race accoutrements on them babies? Can a good comparison be drawn between the race results and stock bikes?

Exactly,Rook this means nothing at all when it comes to stock bikes....................oh wait my bike came out on top and the zx10 came in dead last so yes the comparison is valid.

I just got my SSB in the mail and read about this bike, sounds great but its always the same shit with the hp #'s when a new bike comes out, will be interested to see when people start buying them and putting them on the dyno.

Truth be told the BMW will more than likly have more HP than all the other Jap 1000s. It has to if BMW really intended to take on the big four. If not they will be in the same position Ducati has been in for years with an expensive bike composed of great parts thats only "as good as" a much cheaper Jap 1000.

Not sure why you can't believe that 80ft lbs sounds close to other liter bikes. If this bike only makes 75ft and 170 hp its going to roast every Jap bike period in terms of straight line speed save the 1/4 mile stuff. Ever ride a late model 1000?

I dont remeber the old torque to hp equation but at 80lb of torque wouldnt it have to spin up to around 14k rpm to make that type of power?

"When people start buying them"....this is what gets me, people have bought them, lots of them...where is the real world info? Seems to me somebody, by now, would be showing a dyno clip. I've been searching every day .....Nothing. How many rags have you guys seen all posting the same WOW...... Show me the Dyno jet 250 #'s. North America will post it like it is, No BS.... Right now, I think BMW is paying across the board. 2 much the same. Starting to stink. Could be wrong?

My local dealer invited me to take one for a spin.
I agreed, but unfortunately there is a lot of snow on the ground here and has been snowing all this week.
So when the weather turns and the streets are dry, I gonna lite the wick on it and see what happens.
I sat on it and it feels like it would be comfy bike to ride. It also seems very manageable once you get the bike off the stand. At 403 dry weight that is right in the same category as the 600's. I am looking forward to giving it a go.

Rook, I was thinking the same thing. I want to and buy this bike right now, but when everything sounds to good to be ?????????????????? What's the catch. Will she hold together. When you need big repairs, how bad is the bend over....My wee brain tells me to wait. Zx 10 has lots to offer at todays price level. hmmmmmmmmmmmm

^^I'm thinking the same. I don't think you will be any faster in cornering on a S1000. I believe there is more power at peak rpm and you would probably win straightline races up to 160 mph. I doubt any literbike will do much more than 186. The S1000 might get there quicker than anything but by how much? .08 seconds?

I don't think waiting could hurt. The price on the BMW isn't going to go up. There will be ZX-10s out there. I'm not expecting the S1000 is going to flatten everything out there. It may be a revolution but I would rather get in on it after it is well under way. Live 5 years in the past. I'll never be good enough to use all of what the literbikes from 5 years ago have. Bragging rights mean a lot but not at that price -- there would have to be a very large advantage. The deals on the 08s are too good, and the race results don't look like they are too dif among all the literbikes including the beemer.

^^If the japbikes go to 180 whp, I would wait a couple years before buying one of those too.

when it comes to bike sales HP Bragging Rights means everything. If the BMW only made 140hp trust me no one would be talking about the bike.

^^I don't care much for the spikey brake light but other than that, I think the S1000 looks good.

It's true that you could get a ZX-10 with a pipe, PC, Nitrus and tune for a couple grand less than the S1000 and be making a lot more hp.

I don't know enough about it to say but from what I've heard of how BMW achieved the high rev hp, I have this feeling you couldn't boost the S1000 motor without doing some major engine building.

And their engineers have reported exactly that."The motor is capable of much higher RPM"
