Hey Dave
Glad you made it home safe my friend!!! How did You make out at the border? Did you try another crossing so your pass would wave you threw? Did Nasty check his tire pressure when the bike was cold? How long did it take you to get home?

Snuff, get this! I checked online last night and at that same crossing they have the express lane for me coming out of the US into Canada but not into the US from Canada. Nasty was making fun last night that it's set up like that to get us nutty Canadians out of the US quicker lol

Zero wait at the border! I went right through. Cars were backed up at least for a 1-2 hour wait.

17 is much prettier in the day! Coming down Friday night I couldn't see shit! It's actually a very nice stretch of road.

The ride today was exactly 6.5 hours door to door.

We checked for any play in his steering in the morning and everything looked good but never checked the pressure. I took it up and down the street last night and it seemed ok. Hopefully it was nothing but he's going to have it looked at when he gets back. I'm sure he'll check in when he gets a chance.

What a great ride, can't wait until the next one.

Well nuts! Just saw this thread tonight.

I got so used to the proposed rides gong "belly up" before they happened that I just stopped monitoring this thread!

Only 800 mile from me and I was free to go. Coupla days of interstate and I woulda been to Middleton.

Woulda-coulda.................but too little too late.

I'll be watching for the next one, fer sure. Looks like you had dozen 14's and that's a great start. Sounds like the philosophy is "ride your own pace" similar to the MSTA meets, as well. I like that.

Hope to see you next go round as long as it isn't in Canada, heh, heh! Almost got plugged by a border guard on my last trip there for a hockey tournament, some time ago, and I haven't bothered to get a required passport for another run at the crossing.

Glad some peeps finally put a meet together, though.

Cheers

That's enough miles to ride from NYC to LA with a few extra to spare! 3200 miles in 5 days!!! The last 1500 went easier than the first 1500. I almost didn't want to get off the bike when I got home! Just wanted to keep riding!

I had an awesome time at Bear Mountain!!! Best road trip I had ever had!! This motorcycle eats miles like nobodies business. Had some fun adventures on the way home, too! Halfway across Pennsylvania I ran into a 09 zx14 SE, black with green fins like mine, dude was from Brooklyn out on a Sunday cruise to Chicago! The dude was fucking nuts! I told him about you guys and our Bear Mountain ride with 11 zx14s, this forum, and suggested we should team up since we're headed in the same direction. After fueling up, him and I tore off across the rest of Pennsylvania, through Ohio and Indiana stopping only for fuel. Once we got to Chicago we parted with nothing more than a quick wave as we went our separate ways. If it weren't for running into that 09 I would have never made 1000 miles Sunday! Today's 300 miles turned into 500 when I decided to get off the interstate at La Crosse, WI to start exploring the bluffs and hills along the Mississippi River spending most of my time on the west side in southeastern Minnesota. There I found a lot of roads through the bluffs and hills with fun ass twisties very similar to what we were riding in New York!!! A lot of what I found was new fresh paved roads. Some where very tight and technical and most of them opened right up to some fun sweepers at the end! Best part is I didn't even know there were that many fun roads only 2-3 hours from me! I also came across a scenic overlook where I had to take the bike offroading up a step winding dirt/gravel road to get there. The zx14 can do anything! Coming back down was a bit sketchy with the shitty rear brake and street tires. I will def be returning to that place very soon. Can't wait for another road trip. I would ride to NY to ride with you guys agin anytime! This MC trip turned out way better than I could have imagined! After knocking off 3200 miles in 5 days I seriously feel like I could easily rock out another 3000 tomorrow no problem.

You guys are great! Can't wait for the next get together! It was a lot of fun meeting and riding with y'all! Sorry I was a bit antisocial this weekend! I was a whooped and beat from the shitty ride on Friday through Pennsylvania. Thanks for showing me around your stomping grounds! Thanks black1, snuffy, bikeman and the rest of the crew! You guys kept the the whole event fun and enjoyable without issue!! Much appreciated the hospitality!!! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into meeting up with a bunch of strangers I only met on the fucking Internet, hahahaha!!!
Thank you Dave! You were an awesome dude and I own you one! It was fun getting to know you! Thanks for the bungies and getting situated for the ride home so I didn't have to carry that backpack all the way back home! It made for an entirely more enjoyable ride home!
Thank you Snuffy! Thank you!!! I owe you big time!

Nasty,

You are all man an then some! I have not even looked at my mileage yet all I did was wash the bike today, ill check it tomorrow an post it for you all to see. I'm sure I have the least amount of miles everyone.

I'm glad to hear that everyone made it home safe!

PaulAB,

Ya man! You missed a good one so you will just have to make sure your in the next one. Nasty an Dave905 could have used another one to run with. Also we could have used another Blue 14 in the mix.

Caroobs,

You will have to make it as well to the next one as well there's always room for more 14's

Nasty; The alphabet roads of central to western WI are famous for technical riding and gorgeous country.
Just a bit Northwest of LaCrosse off route 95 on a high hill is Hansen's Hold-Up Bar and Grill. This is a great place for a lunch/dinner and a pail of suds with a western theme and firearms hanging off every wall. Portrait of John Wayne figures prominently near the bar. A must stop for hungry motorcyclists. Not open on Mondays or Tuesdays; open late aft and eve other weekdays and noon to evening on weekends; last I knew. 608-323-7044, best to call before, if you plan to go.

Just north and west of Hansen's is a veritable nest of alphabet roads for your enjoyment with designators like U,X,XX,C,CC,T,N,F,KK......you get the idea. Riding the alphabet roads was originated (if I remember correctly) by Cycle World's Peter Egan, who still lives in the west central Wi area.

Been up in the area several times with and without friends to ride these delightful roadways. TWISTAR ride for the MSTA is in this area every year initiating in Spring Green, WI and venturing West and North for a lunch ride of 300 mile or so; different ride each year with a different lunch stop planned and sorted by local experts before the meet. MSTA members are represented in Minnesota and some of them "tour" on the BMW 1000RR, R-1's or the Ducati Pannigale and the like; no slouches there; not everyone rides an FJ1300 in that group! although the majority are sport tourers and not sport riders.

Thanks for the shout Black 1; I will make a point of getting to the next one if at all possible.

Hell yeah Dave! I took that in the south east corner of Minnesota on my way home! I told you I had no places near me to do any riding like we did in NY but I was totally wrong!!! I forgot I had heard there was amazing ridding to be had in SE MN and Western Wisconsin only two-three hour ride away!!! I will definitely be heading out there for a weekend soon! Just got done doing 7500 mile service on the bike and ready to ride again! Sparkplugs were a bitch trying to get the stick coils out.

Here's a crazy idea, just throwing this out there. Maybe people can plan to meet the same weekend of the U.S. MOTORCYCLE NATIONALS AT ATCO RACEWAY. That way they can watch some of the fastest bikes on the planet racing, and if they get an adrenaline rush, they can sign up and quench their thirst for speed at the racetrack.
