"grn's statement that accidents reported here have only been due to cars"...wrong...read again Vic...Aside from Bean's crash....look at the pics of wrecks on this site...sheesh....and as for 'not being safe enough"....thus wrecking...fer God's sake...YOUR close call was virtually identical to mine....yet we both took a different avoidance measure. We both escaped. It simply wasn't in the cards that day to have a different outcome.Call it what you will...skill,chance,fate...whatever...IF someone decides to pull in front on us at an intersection...and we're doing 'everything' right and safe...and they plow into us....what then?Poor safety skills?Being a 'lesser' rider?Needing MSF classes?(which are good btw).Since you've NEVER been in a wreck...trying to say that those who have are somehow 'beneath'(and that's what it sounds like to me)...remember this...."Pride goeth before a fall"...whether it's today or 6 years from now.Like it or not...mock it or not...you can't escape it....place yourself 'above' everyone else...you'll get your battle scars....trust that.
Let me run THIS scenario past ya...and see how yer skills save ya.
You're rollin along...beautiful Saturday morning...doin the speed limit...you're really enjoying the moment.Weather's great...the world is good. You do as you always do...you approach the curve nicely centered in your lane...you can't really see through the corner...but you've ridden this curve hundreds of times. You KNOW this curve. It's safe..always has been. You glance down at yer speedo....you look up...here's a truck 'missing' the curve...FUCK...he's IN your lane...he's doing 90 through there...that's a combined closing speed of.....160 mph.You have precious seconds to do SOMETHING.There's a cliff on YOUR shoulder..and only a barbed wire fence to stop ya from goin over.If forgot to mention....you have just lost 2 precious seconds dealing with the reality of what's happening...you 'attempt' to apply hard right push....which...unfortunately at that speed, only causes you to veer into that fence...now at 55 since you've already slammed on the brake. He just BARELY slips by ya...but...too late now for you...as your front wheel leaves the shoulder...and plows into and THROUGH that flimsy fence...well...you know the rest....you wake up in the hospital....count your 'skills' stars...and say..."shit...fuckin cage!"LOL!!!!
"Fates for weak-minded people"...that's...'fate's'....that's how ya spell it.You can condemn others here for having a wreck...but ya can't spell worth a shitLOL!!!!Get it together, will ya;)
"it's great to be in a motorcycle accident and it's determined the other drivers fault"....how would YOU know...it can't happen to you. That's one of the statements you've made here that truly tells me....you're on borrowed time my friend..That deer out there is gonna jump OVER you...no worries.(actually had that happen once).
"Fates for weak-minded people. It's just another bullshit thing for people to point and blame something on, instead of accepting blame themselves". What IF...those people point and blame themselves? You think that JUST might make them a better rider?I do.Only one here 'blaming' any of us for having a crash...is YOU.Get over yerselfLOL!!!
If it aint a 'near miss'...as some here have experienced(probably more than once)it'll be the real deal up ahead...sometime,someday...if ya ride long enough that is;)And I don't wish or hope that on ANYONE.Just the nature of people...living their lives...in their own worlds...most WITHOUT a 'motorcycle' mentality mucking things uplol!
You making sweeping statements about us here and throwing out remarks about some of our(supposed)poor driving skills is really not needed.Guys here have almost(in some cases)bought the farm...at least have some respect and thanks that they made it through.Hell of an attitude towards your riding brothers, tell ya that.
