Texting Rook this morning. Down 8hp and 3lbft. Same frame, engine, smaller T-bodies... The Hayabusa community is PISSED and rightfully so.

Don't give them MY name rook LOL
Don't worry chrly. I didn't name names. Turns out you were exactly correct though. I think a lot of busa owners would agree with you. The one's that put money on a 2021 busa hopefully will be able to wrangle that transaction over toward the purchase of a 14R.
Yep, the new busa was designed to keep selling the busa as it always has been while complying with Euro 6 requirements. It's a good card and they're playing it again albeit with less performance while even acquiring less fuel economy.
Everything is cool. Go about your ZX-14 business unless you will be the first to post the soon to follow Hitler video.

I was so looking forward to the 3rd generation release. I love the hayabusa. Bought an 06 new and had it for 12 years before I sold it. I waited and waited for the new one but I got tired of waiting so I bought a 2018 zx14r. I love this bike also but when I saw the release coming up I was so excited and ready to trade back. That is until I saw the actual numbers and to say the least I was heart broken. I was so disappointed in the new bike hp numbers. same 1340cc. So I am officially DONE with suzuki.

WOT the wire I have a lag-glitch?
Here, let me help you with the rear brake apply.
Double click my lever is a hill climb.
Dead spark my full throttle opening at different rpm modes.
Euro shittyits enact an emissions per pound of gas spent spewing more unspent to get to the same place?
I can't get enough of the modes/axes/alpha/digital/e-brake my clutch basket in analog speak.
Leaky base gasket says what?

It’s a great looking bike, but more power should have been a TOP priority.
I’m actually kind of glad because I thought I was about to have to buy a new bike.

Nice looking bike, smaller better looking stock mufflers than the 14R, but that's because of the lower HP & TQ targets. I like the addition of the cruise control & heated grips.

As Nasty said, check out the Hayabusa forums re the new Gen 3 Busa release.
So many passionate and loyal Busa fanatics all expressing such disappointment and disgust.
And most saying they will save their $20k and stick with their more powerful Gen2's.
Damning for Suzuki.
What were they thinking when they knew the number one requirement for their customers regarding any Hayabusa upgrade was more power in the new engine.
Not less!

I think something else, maybe emmisions politics, is at play here. Surely no one doubts that Suzuki could quite easily have increased the power and torque figures of the new model substantially if they wanted to. Or maybe they knew of Kawasaki's intention to phase out the 14R so a "facelifted" Busa rather than a completely new, benchmark setting model would suffice? Just supposing here.

Tought Tiities for Sazook. 13 years to update and this is the best they can do. Make less power ....
Kawy should supercharge the 14, that I would buy in a heartbeat. Put on electronic dampers as well like on the new H2 Sx Se+.

Waiting for real world testing head to head to see how this comes out. Not in the market for another new bike but it will be interesting. Not a Busa hater here just someone who appreciates different bikes.

Yeah, I'm waiting too. What's for certain is the new busa needs to be modified if it has any greater potential than the Gen2 busa. I don't know how many of these bikes will make it to the US and Canada in the next six months where it would seem most likely owners would modify. I also don't know how many people bought the new busa wanting to modify it. From what they're saying, the ECU might be very difficult to crack for flashing. It might be necessary to buy a race ECU on top of everything else. I won't be surprised if we don't see any dyno sheets for almost a year. I have this gnawing feeling the Gen3 busa will be more work than it's worth and still end up falling short of the 14R. It might be better equipped to withstand the stress of turbo than the previous gen but with the cost of the stock bike, it might come out a wash. Suzuki either dropped the ball or they set us up for the biggest surprise in hyperbike history.

Time will tell Rook. Truth be told there is not that much market for these bikes anymore. The numbers sold are miniscule compared to 750's and 1000's, not to mention cruisers. It will surprise me if Suzuki comes out with a higher performance version given the market demand. I suspect the reason they didn't was because of the tighter emissions specs in Europe. Suzuki is certainly capable of meeting or surpassing the performance mark set by the ZX14R's as is Kawasaki and Honda.

They could have, but they didn't.
Look at the Suzuki and Hayabusa forums to see what damage this has done.
A golden opportunity missed.
So disappointing for all and sundry.

I'm guessing whatever this stock bike 'lacks' in power,it makes up for in ride quality.Shifting.All that.Looks really well put together.I'll ride one if I get a chance.I like the styling actually.Even if it looks like a gxxer frontend,it's still very nice. They did a good job with it I think.Nice tail...lamps.
I'd think they would have upped the power, but they had their reasons.Sa'll good.

Completely agree Green.
But it could have been perfect rather than half done with a superior power and torque rating to anything else...

I wouldn't even call it half done. It has a couple nice electronics but it has less power. At best, it's equal to the previous Gen. This spells the end for hyperbike lineage. The 14R will sell as long as it can where it can and then we're left with the less powerful Haybusa. This is probably the time to buy a 14R if you don't already have one. I don't know how many more years the 14R will be available in countries that don't have to comply with Euro 5.
