I not sure Grn, I have abs on my 14 so I have sensors on both wheels. I do know that my rev limiter has to be changed by computer . I can not change it thru controls on the bike itself . It is not possible to have two positions at the same time with the stock ECU. That can only be done with an add on like the MSD launch limiter . Hope this is clear ?

Yep...okay.I think I get it now.I may have confused a bit what I said.To change the Rev limit on my H2,I have to have it done via flash.Same with the disabling of the dash speedo limit.I'm guessing it's set up that way to allow top speeds to be seen without using GPS to show it.Sive it's on the rear wheel,it's accurate.

I have never had the bike on a drag or straight line speed track but really wanted to join the 300 Club (300km/h).
In Australia we have some amazing highways in the country where there are rarely other vehicles and the straight line road conditions are perfect. Even so, took me ages to do it because I kept chickening out at around 270-280 but finally it happened.
(My bike has a custom dynotune / flash where the 300km/h limiter has been removed and rev limiters increased).
I have been to 300 twice and both times it scared the living shit out of me!
Doubt I will ever do it again.
These sorts of speeds may be for some but not for me!
I agree that to hold the throttle wide open in a straight line possibly doesn't involve that much skill (certainly don't include drag racing in this statement) but in my minimal experience it does take experience and sizeable kahoona's...

Go Maddy.
Good luck.

P.S.
When I excitedly told my wife I had finally joined the 300 Club she didn't congratulate me.
She simply said "You ought to be ashamed of yourself!" and walked away...

I pinned my '96 CBR900RR wide open for a good stretch 23 years ago. Saw 162 on the speedo ... closed course of course ... and I'll prob never do it again either. Quick blast up to 130-140 is enough for me ... again, closed course. I no longer feel as invincible, er, well, fast-healing, as I once did.

Go Maddy.
Good luck.

Mine said I was crazy. And not in a good way.

I'll be more impressed if Maddy can locate the battery all by herself, without asking the forum for help.

You need to put your fairings back on. You're cold and it's turned you into a curmudgeon.

The winter doldrums.

Hi there yannih!

I'd like to do everything my bike can do and that includes seeing how fast I can get it to go. That's what it was made for so I'm going to do it. When I get a 600 some day, I won't worry about hp or top speed. That will be the bike to sharpen my cornering and braking skills with.

GRN - Can you come up with anything original to say, besides quoting somebody else or telling us 'green is the fastest color', or kissing Hub's ass. Why is stupidity and cookie cutter mentality acceptable and calling it like it is demonized?

Humor is generally 'cold' when it contains truth. When things are too warm, fuzzy, and sweet an ice cold remedy is needed. Otherwise we would all turn into Kofla and start wearing pussyhats with matching undies.

Being very understanding about biting humor as your are, nay requiring it, I'll say that putting your fairings back on hasn't worked so far. So at this point I recommend you also add grip heaters and a windshield extension:

Oh! And he might also wanna turn his throttle wide open in top gear and hold it as long as possible. Takes no skill, deserves no adulation, congrats or high-fives whatsoever, but might warm a person up.

I love going fast as much as the next guy or gal.....

Things I think about especially if not on a closed coarse.

At 186mph, taking average reaction time, from the time you
decide to hit the brakes until you actually do hit the brakes,
you have already traveled the length of a "football field" before
the brakes are even applied.

At 186mph including reaction time from the time you decide
to hit the brakes until you come to a complete stop, it will
be approximately 1/4 of mile.

As an Australian I can assist with that.

"Shut the fuck up and go piss on someone else's dream dickhead."

G'Day Rookster.
I hope your new life is going great guns...

I'd like to do everything my bike can do and that includes seeing how fast I can get it to go. That's what it was made for so I'm going to do it.

You are a better man than me.
I know my bike is made for it.
Trouble is I am definitely not!

At great personal sacrifice, I have once again, united nice guys against the force of evil. The online camaraderie brings warmth to my cold dead heart. Now that you all feel better about yourselves I expect a sincere 'Thank You' for making it all happen.

Hi Piken :-)

At 186mph including reaction time from the time you decide
to hit the brakes until you come to a complete stop, it will
be approximately 1/4 of mile.

The place for which I hope to go is a professionally run dry salt lake, from what I can Imagine, Its alike Bonniville (worlds fastest Indian Bert Munro comes to mind).

You have a 2 mile run up, 2 miles to hold it pinned flat out, then 2 miles to stop, turn around and do it again in the other direction.

Reaction time on the road and track are different,
On the rd you have to allow 1.5 seconds to react, ie, your brain telling your body to do something, then 1.5 seconds to get the pads to start braking.
At the track its a different story , drag strip or such, because you already know where to start braking you can eliminate reaction time, take off that 1.5 seconds, but if it was an unexpected stop, alike a rider falling in front of you it would be the 3 seconds, you know what I mean ?

Time and distance to stop at ,,,,lets just say 300kph,
100 km/hr
1km = 1000 metres (m)
100 km/hr x 1000m = 100,000 metres per hour
1hr = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds
1hr = 3,600 seconds
100 km/hr = 100,000m/3,600 seconds = 27.77 metres per second.
Therefore, in 3 seconds a Bike travels 3 x 27.77 metres = 83 metres x 3 = 249 meters in 3 seconds,
About 1 kilometre every 12 seconds.
To start the braking process from a pre dermined point , 1.5 seconds and if hard on the brakes in "Perfect conditions" it would take you 200 meters to stop.
A 1/4 mile is about 400 meters , so on the salt I would concur that it would take up to 1/4 of a mile to stop.

So in summary of our mathematics and allowances , " I agree with you " , LoL.
