Need to start throwing out dates...Planning a run in May 2nd week (8th-10th)....

id be willing to head that way, im only 35 minutes from charlotte, ill keep looking when the plans and date are final.

Adamsgeneral I'll keep you posted; how flexible are you with time off from work? MRE14, 06ninja, justin & lawman..are you guys still down for this run? Hellmut r u locked for that June or could you make May? It would be cool to have as many as 14's together for the Dragon.......

Shogun, I am a go for the 2nd wk in May if thats the date, I am also open for June as well!! so if we are thinking about going to wait until its a tad warmer I am fine with that.... the weather doesn't bother the body as much as it effects the tires....

8th to 10th of may is sounding great, time off work isn't a problem, they just like about 7 days notice, but the sooner I know, the better, just in case there are others that want the same days off, its first draw at the pd.....

May 8th is Mother's day so that's a no no; wifey would make life hell. We could do a one day run on the 9th or plan to stayover & ride so more on the 10th before heading back out. Option 2: May 5th and 6th which is the Thursday/Friday before the weekend could work as well. I am trying to not ride on the weekend when everybody's out on the Dragon, too much traffic. Keep dates open and we'll try & lock'em in based on the weather.......

Shogun glad you caught that.... that wknd is definitely a no go for me, lol!!! right now I have tentative plans for June 4th-5th, but they are tentative so if that happens to be the date i can change my plans as long as we decide soon....

My lil boy is supposed to make a first apperance the end of May so may is probly a no go for me. What about the end of The end or 3rd weekend in April like the 22-24?

22nd of April is fine with me, I'm off work anyway- or june also, but not too much later than that, wifey has a baby due early july, so need to be close around that time-

Ok we are getting there with dates, weekends are tough for me & traffic on the dragon. Are week days too hard to get off? I was thinking April 18-19th (Mon-Tues) which is good for me but if April 22nd-24th weekend works best let's lock it in. I checked the Two Wheel Inn; it's close to the Rt 129 plus has secured individual garages attached to the rooms. There are many places to stay; any other ideas?

april 18th and 19th work for me!

justin...does 18th-19th work for you? We should have two options anyways in case off weather issues....We should do overnight because the dragon is only 11 miles but some of the surrounding roads allow several hours of loop routes....

Yea I was thinking about that too its also hard for me on weekends too. So 18-19th it is. We can do that weekend if weather doesn't permit.

anytime after the 15th of april is not good for me up until the 8th of May... after the 8th of May my schedule is free again including week days... I looked up one hotel in the area and they had group rates and other specials and their peak rates don't start until June. So if we can go before then the rooms are cheaper... I think it was the Two Wheel Inn that I saw the specials!

18th & 19th it is...need to confirm meetup spot I'm just north of Charlotte; where ya'll coming from? From there we find the best ride route to the dragon. There's several twisty routes up thru the mountains...

we usually ride up 178 and 28 to the gap if ya'll want to meet up near spartanburg I know its an hour out of the way but these are some amazing roads.

im coming from albemarle, was planning on hitting I40 west,in Statesville, but whatever route would work

Justin, you're Spartenburg right? I85 or I40 works for me too eitherway we should treat the trip as one big loop. If we start off on 85, there's a nice route to the Dragon called Moonshine run which is route Rt28, you catch it a little past Greenville, SC. If we get to the Dragon around 12:00pm, check-in rooms/grab lunch, then do some afternoon riding on the Dragon & Devil's Triangle in TN. The next day depending on time maybe take the Blue Ridge Parkway East and catch I40 back....Does this work?

that would be one heck of a ride from albemarle to greenville to deals gap. why dont we meet in ashville near 26 and 40 then we can go in the back way through 28 then we can do the skyway and back around to the gap for a late afternoon ride there.

Sounds like a game plan. I am closer to I40, so AdamsG we could meet at I40 & I77 and hookup with Justin in Asheville.

Sorry for the late reply, been working stupid long hours -- Shogun1, I'm afraid I won't make it to the Gap until June - April is out and May isn't looking good either for time off, guys in my dept have already booked vacation time through May......I would probably need to schedule an entire week off so I'm not fighting cagers on a weekend and that's what I've got planned in June, just not sure which week just yet. I am going to the Superbike weekend at MidOhio Raceway wkend of July 8th and there's not much else available to take time off before then except for June.
Get's closer to June and I'll post up when I plan to make it down there.

Hellmut just let us know when you can go. I can get off usually anytime and usually always down for a deals gap trip just as long as its later in the month of June.

Hellmutt...as Justin stated I am down for the mountains anytime. OK, dates are locked 18th-19th (21st,22nd & 23rd backup dates). Everyone checkout rates on places to stay..I have never stayed in that area, so if anyonelse knows a good place speakup. The TwoWheeled Inn seems cool in Robbinsville near the Dragon. We should locked down the rooms soon maybe by the end of this week. I'll send PM's out with my cell#.....
