Trader Rating: (0) had some funny with a ZX14

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did some roll-ons with my buddy on his 08 ZX14se The ZX14 has a set of M4 slip-ons and a Power Commander. My 08 CBR has 600 miles on the clock, the exhaust flapper mod, flappers have been removed from the air intake and a Dyno Jet IRC installed. He weighs 190lbs and I weigh 240lbs and both bikes were full of gas and in terms of skill we are dead even. The first race was from 50 mph he was in 2nd and I was in 3rd the intent was to make sure the revs were up on the 14. Once we took off he jumped two bikes out immediately however I made up the distance as quickly has he created it. I stayed on the throttle and shot by him as he foot shifted into 3 rd we both stayed on the throttle by the time I reached the top of fourth I was at least 10 bikes out on him. We turned around and we both started in second gear from 50 mph. The CBR just ran away from him like he was in reverse with the brakes locked. We switched bikes and did the same runs and with my extra 50lbs of weight on the ZX14 the ass kicking was even worst than before. We pulled over and laughed our ass off at the fact this little stock bike just walked all over the mighty ZX14. We have another friend that rides a 07 zx14 with a full muzzy system, Power Commander, no flies and a custom map. His bike made a 181 hp on a Dyno Jet 250i. This guy honestly believes he has the quickest\fastest bike on the planet simply because some dyno spit out a big number. He talked big crap about me "stepping down" to a liter bike and how I was too big and the bike would be slow because it made no TQ. He is closer to my weight and I won't give him the benefit of starting in a higher gear. My intent is to destroy his 1352cc ivory tower with one swing of my Fireblade Don't get me wrong the ZX14 is a great bike and very fast. In fact I sold one to buy a 08 CBR1000.

Ya-okay? Last time I looked,my zx weighed in at around 550+-.Without rider. It's not SUPPOSED to be a liter bike!LOL!It will always be a kick in the pants, long distance powerhouse.I NEVER see ANY liter bikes on ANY roads where I travel up here.EVER.(Where are they all?)OOps,sorry,I do see them riding down mainstreet and around town here.Tryin to get em to go for a cruise somewhere is like "pulling teeth"-it aint gonna happen.I've never ridden a liter bike-might be fun?Doing the "city cruise" just aint my idea of enjoyment.I'd rather be rippin a sweeper through the canyons at 120+ any day!(I've got the tickets to prove it!!!LOL ouch!)

kruz... that is the wine that entices me about the litre bikes.

07 - that is why I have a 14. Last years trip from Daytona back to Calif - too much fun. Wish I had my turbo and radar detector then... I'd still probably have had a handful of tickets !

but those damn nimble and light litre bikes are slowly seducing me towards'em.

How come that bike in the canyon could not match the 14's hole shot from corner to corner. Ba-ba-ba = BULL SHIT!
Grunt me a firefly is choose either flapper is give you a head start too.

Oh, I'm with ya, I just happened to run across that post on the CBR forum. Didn't wilidx used to be a member over here?
I got both and the liter is a hoot for about 30 minutes, hour tops. 14 is good for all day riding, 6 hours straight is my record. It's kinda like comparing oranges and apples.

My riding style is MUCH better suited to a 14 than liter bike. The only thing that needed fixing on the 14 for me was ridiculous power.....with the turbo I honestly think I'm going to have the perfect bike for me Technology be damned

Look at the CBR's ET compared to the rest of the literbike crew, gotta be a typo! Look at the R1's time, 600 supersport territory. I'm gonna have to go ride an '09 Blade and see if all the hype is true.

I am not about to get in a pissing contest between my cuzins 2008 CBR1000 and my 14. He will take out the 14 but I expect him to. Get out on the road and every 50 miles he has to pull over for 15 minutes so his body will quit crampin.
You all know the story with the 14 after 50 miles. You just have no need to stop.

Yeah they are extremely fast....Didn't you hear Rickey Gadson is going to ride a liter bike this year because they are so darn fast and they smoke 14's and Busa's all day. Actually the entire AMA Dragbike sport is switching to all 2009 Honda CBRs its fricken amazing. (END SARCASM) This guy is nothing more than an ass clown. Post that that on the Fireblade forum.

I personally like eating up liter bikes they are less filling than busa's.

Exactly how I feel, JDC but it would never replace the 14 or busa for a highway bike. Sustained high speed is a thrill unto itself and I don't know how long I'd last doing 100+ on a liter bike not to mention doing 200 miles at more or less legal speed. I like that we are a little different than the rest of the folks out on the road with sport bikes too. Generally speaking, I think the hyperbikes are a bit more impressive to see out on the road. It would be great to have a liter for an in town/couple hours of thrills bike. I'd love to have both but a the 14 is clearly first choice for me.

It's nice to have a brand new bike but a used liter bike in great condition would probabley do just fine for me. A liter bike wouldn't get ridden as much as long as i have the 14.

Agreed, the new CBR is fast and handles like a dream but it's comparing oranges to apples. I rode 60 miles Sunday morning on the CBR, mostly freeway and it was awful. Shoulders and wrists started to ache after about 30 minutes then my throttle hand went numb and I had to pull over at Starbucks for emergency nourishment. Wind protection is limited unless you crawl under the paint. That trip is a yawn on the 14.

LOL, you saying I like to stir up the pot Rook?

BTW couldn't find a rollon comparo between the CBR and the 14 but this one included the ZX-10, 14 and Hayabusa. I'm not calling willi's story bull but as you can see, rollon performance is very similar between all these machines.

Just restating what’s been stated on this very forum by people who own new liter bikes. I will say I though it was BS and never believed that was the case but once again I was wrong. After ridding the CBR for a few minutes I knew it was a quicker than a stock 06 or 08 ZX14 without a doubt. What did shock me is the disparity between the two in terms of acceleration from a roll. Kruz sorry you can't ride your 06-or 07 for more than 30 minutes but I put 500 miles on the CBR last Sunday (I have the Honda E-Cushion Seat). It was tough as that was my first long ride on that bike. I think 375-400 miles per day is going to be my new limit on the CBR. Hey the bright side is you could always go 16/43 but IMOP that would be tough to live with day in and day out on a ZX14

ahh.... Hamr56 just so you know KRUZ pulled this from a CBR forum and posted here. So you might want to direct you ass clown comment towards him or at least read before you type. Just for the record there are plenty of 1000cc bikes kicking butt at the strip and Ricky is not the only great drag racer. But I wouldn't expect a guy in blue jeans on a zx14 know that kind of thing.

You done a 180 on me willi, I was arguing the very same point in that earlier thread you posted.....remember? My only point was you really need to have both in your garage, at least I do. I've got no complaints about either bike, they're both quick, my 14 has enough power to scare me silly any time I want and the CBR is plenty fast too. It's a win-win the way I see it, I'll pick up an '09 when they go on sale next spring......the Good Lord willing!

and in what bullshitt world could this happen..

and in another note i have yet to see a honda liter bike even hit 10's at the track ..

in fact the last 09 cbr1000 that ran was doing good to hit 10's .. you must have a special one willidx4..

and to you dummies ET don't tell HP ..MPH does and the honda is next to last ...

The first reason I picked up a turbo is because I crave the over the top kinda power they offer The second reason was to put an end to the constant debate over which bike is slightly faster than the others every year. With 280 or so rw ponies I think I'll prolly be pushin up daisies before I ever have to worry about the next model year kickin my ass around lol. And that feeling is sweet!!!

don't get off topic .. i've been kicking cbr azzes and would like to roast a few more of them hype bikes ..

in fact the last 09 cbr was dragstrip ready by a dealer for a customer and the dealer told him ..HE WOULD BE THE FASTEST BIKE AT THE TRACK ... GUESS WHAT .. he wasn't in fact he was nowhere near fast with 10.20's@135mph on a streeeeched and lower bike with pipe and mods and a 135lb rider..

Badzx14r it seems you and I agree that a CBR1k will not run a 9.68.

Agreed that looks funny but I was the same guy that said a liter could not touch a zx14 in roll-ons. Before you go ride the 08 CBR clear a spot in the garage for another bike

Random people posting random time slips is meaningless and being a drag racer I'm guessing you already know that fact. It seems like your looking for a pissing contest yet no one is interested maybe that’s why someone was try to change the topic. OK I'll play along...you ready... Badzx14r my bike will run circles around your bike at the strip simply because its mine ok it’s your turn. Badzx14r just for the record I have seen lots of ZX14 and Busa run slower than 10.3 at the strip but that’s the rider not the bikes fault which I'm sure you know also.
