RE: OCTOBER MADNESS!!!

If you curl up the swing arm like a caterpillar, you lost no length at the swing arm, per say. But, you did lose overall length from A to B. This way, the idea is a design idea, rather than shorten the swing, it is strengthened at that same time by the arc.

Isn't the swingarm length measured from the pivot to the axle, though?
And I'm still not getting what that has to do this:
2012 WB is 58.3
2011 WB is 57.5
Also, that is a 0.8", or 20.32mm, increase in WB... If the new arm is only 10mm longer, then the frame is also longer... Bummer, IMO.

Anyhoo... think I'm done with the bench racing commentary... Lotsa good things done to the new 14r... but only time will tell if it lives up to the hype and is worth the price of admission.

Is that measured at the crank or to the rear wheel?

If those are really are the factory #'s, I believe they are taken at the crank. Gotta be considering factory #'s are always way higher than actual rwhp.

Dogo, You are reading too much into it. It was a joke. Someone cried longer swing and I went and goofed, honey, they shrunk the kids. It is just a design move. The joke was the swing can be shrunk this decade, but here you go, R for retro ride back to a loner swing arm. Watch the caterpillar stretch out this year... Ha-ha-ha. YOu should know how lame my shit is by now.

Technically, it's leverage getting out of the gate with the extra 10mm length.

bigW, I gotta laugh. Brock saw HP leave the building, he installed a piper cub or wadeverwad of air cleaner label you putt on it, you lost the OEM right there. Now, here is the pipe with some extra-extra plumbing for the gruntR for runner. You pull one more part off, I start laughing, how much OEM did you lose along with the pleat factor?

Still working on translating that one Hub. But if I am to understand you correctly, you are saying something about losing the stock air cleaner and exhaust... But what are you saying... I haven't yet recieved the Rosetta Stone version of Hub yet so I am at a loss as to your real meaning. But I am sure that like the pre-2012 bikes and all other makes/models of bikes that there can/will be some performance gain in swapping out some parts for aftermarket goodies, even if it is only a little weight loss....

Heavier? Yes... but not 20 lbs heavier

Dogo - I never mentioned how much the new weighs over the old - especially since I have no real clue, but the cans are BIGGER and probrably not made from something exotic or lightweight, so it only makes since to "assume" they weigh more. All of this banter about weight - really the only thing I am getting at is this, if I can lose pounds even if the new bird weighs more than the old, there's more get up an go to it - making it lighter only makes that part of the equation look even better...

$16,500 - Really? If that's the price when I go to my dealer - he can kiss my a$$! While I do like the bike and really want one, I don't expect to even pay MSRP for it much less 1 cent over! No way in hell...

Brock noticed that if you change the stock air cleaner, you lose horsepower. How much, I don't know? The point is, you remove something that was designed for max performance, think an aftermarket will make some sort of improvement over the original horsepower the factory (OEM) presents, down goes you power with one aftermarket after the other.

Now comes the exhaust pipe. Slips are a no brainer. You will alter some power curve either way. My guess is you will lose the bottom where in the street, the dart from a door is paramount. You broke the HP loop. Now, you tag car instead of clearing it. Make a little bit of sense now?

Haven't gotten it yet...but it's lookin real good.My dealer definitely wants me to have this machine(not just for a 'sales' thing).I'll know pretty much tomorrow how it's gonna be payed for.But I'm optimistic....geez...ya never really know until....If I had a co-signer...it'd be a done finished deal as I type. But I don't want to have anyone else involved with this thing. You know what I mean.My co-signer would be worrying needlessly...I don't want that.Ah...whichever way things go...I still feel good that it'll be shipped here in November.Gotta have a tad bit of drama, right? But all the paperwork and stuff is done. It'll work out....things always do if they're really meant to be.Problem is....I've gotten loans through the Credit Union...but their loans are not recorded in a person's credit history.Sounds really stupid...but,that's what it is.Gonna see if my CU will up my credit limit.I'll know tomorrow. My dealer's got some other options as well...so...I'm feeling good about all this in spite of the raincloud trying to ruin the experience.

LOL...benchracing....ya...that'd be me alright! With my rose colored glasses Thanks Drag for the uplift.Ya...and all you guys who are rootin me on.Appreciate it...even if it is ONLY a motorcycle .

He's got some other ways to get around this "credit history' thing(truth is...I have GOOD credit...that's what's so messed up about the whole thing...I've always paid stuff off on time or before it was due).Basically,he said don't worry.....

You see that's what happen when people make too much money. He gets it from everybody... 1 day is saying the Busa is the thing to beat, then he makes the ZX 14 diary, and after that propelled the 1000RR to 192hp. Now since Kaw is saying so much about the power of the 14R, he knows people are expecting at least 200hp. I hope his got a high tolerance for fumes! Can somebody tell me how much hp he managed to get outta the 10R? That project didn't get much air play!
