Quick action throttle
09/09/21 11:58 AM

Gday guys, wondering if anyone else finds that the throttle is NOT an easy wrist movement from closed to fully open ?
For me it’s like I need two grabs to achieve this
& so on a twisty road, between corners the throttle is never used completely open.
Safer you might say & the Kawasaki reason behind this ?
Any thoughts ?
I’d like a quicker action by maybe 25%
But not end up with it like a light switch, ON to OFF.

I agree with Piken,,Rev Throttle gives lots of options ..I use mine for drag racing with the first half of throttle provides lots of control then top half goes full fast..

The Rev2 sounds like a great idea. I agree the throttle seems to have a lot of travel but for what I do, Just reaching way forward around the grip seems to work. I don't think that would be the best for drag launches though.

You are correct Rook, at least in my case.. I did the chicken wing thing once.. When I launched the force thru me back and of course when I went back ( relatively speaking ) I gave more throttle . Only time I have put the 14 at 11 plus o'clock . Once was enuff for me .. If you are extended and or wheely bars then it is a different story..

ultra, this only fits the zx10's, so no. It comes with it's own cables. About your only tiny edge is a cable adjust?

Try a cable readjust. I walk it something like this, where I run both cables in with the thumbwheels all the way back and no threads showing when all is turned in. Book says return cable first, pull cable last. It's were I take up as much as I can without the inner cable feeling like a guitar string.

This is all on the side stand mine you. Now I take up the slack on the pull cable. Then I fine tune both cables, meaning, slowly opening to WOT and closing it slowly again to feel for any hang up before I get there plus following it home.

Then I upright the bike and sit on it. I now feel for any cable about to tighten up because I moved the bars to center. I have to turn to the right while just my thumb and middle finger is hardly moving the throttle so as to feel the throttle bodies open.

It can go crunch and hang up on the return more than the pull, so any hang up is to move return first and see if smooth action returns. Because I'm going to keep on zeroing out the slack on the pull side so I have instant opening short of the cable opening [the bodies] first. To make sure the cables have plenty of slack is to light it off and turn the bars back and forth to make absolute certain the idle does not come up on the bar sweep.

Mmm, it seems the Motion Pro gear fits up to a 2016
Mines a 2019
Might need to contact sellers to confirm fitment
Unless any one has fitted one to a later bike ?
Thanx guys

Cable set: 0638 - Fits 2016 and 2019. One down.

Handlebar: 0565 - Fits 2006 to 2019. Two down.

The 90 degree Case-throttle: This bike hasn't changed a lick sans those subtle case change designs and other little sneak ins you don't catch thru the years. Disclaimer says... haven't seen a bar length change via part number, doesn't seem the cable routing has changed.

Where does the 90 come in on all this? Why did case-quick not follow subtle design changes. Look who is in the way of the new 90. And if case-90-quick threads thru like the OE and you don't have to move anything? Three down closes the deal.

Same cable setup of who goes first and all that.

Oddly Motion Pro's site claims It fits Up To The 2015 with ABS
https://www.motionpro.com/c/rev2-throttle?v=11288
Well... I've had a mixed bag with fitment on this bike. Example Vortex adjustable levers, Vortex/Revzilla swear they both fit,,, clutch is great brake doesn't fit. Galfer front rotors/Pads... DennisKirk assures me the part numbers Galfer gave me are for a ZX-600R says their own experience and what the people at Galfer told them. Went to GalferUSA got transferred around and finally spoke to someone technical who said they were positive that it would fit "No Question's Asked" Well ordered them and rotors/Pads fit great like a glove even...

Edit: I just ordered one, we'll see what happens!

Hi Banknyank... I have a 2016 SE

FWIW I had a motion Pro Throttle on a 2008 ZX-10R it worked great and lasted 30K miles without a single problem and even lasted the next owner another 2 years until he looped it and his wife made him get rid of it...

I just installed it. Perfect fit. the only minor issue is the wire clip that holds the cables to the throttle body is a bit loose after install but some very minor bending of the hook part snugs it right back up. all quality parts and the metal reel housing is an upgrade from the older model I had on my 2008 ZX-10R. My only complaint is that with the grips that came with the kit. They are very thin and they have a diamond shaped stubble pattern that's fairly aggressive. For some one with small hands doing muddy whoops on a dirt bike they would be ideal but for me with big hands on machine I commute 3.5 hours a day on (Weather permitting) the included grips are sub optimal. I'll order a new set and some grip glue shortly, this is by no means a deal breaker to me. As for function After lubing the cables and using plenty grease on the throttle tube and housing it is a smooth as the factory unit and the shorter reels are noticeable in their amount of twist reduction but not overly so. I did a short test ride with the Orange "Road Race" Reel and I like it I'm going to try the Yellow (least twist needed from closed to WOT) and compare the two. all in all a good purchase.

I don't know if you tried but their are throttle cable tension adjusters a few inches below the handle bar.

Finally fitted up the Motion Pro quick action throttle today.
Inc cables, a couple of hours job.
Mine is a 2019 SE Ohlins Brembo bike, it all fitted up fine, although advertised to fit only up to a 2016 model ?
I’m using the progressive Cam, of the 5 supplied options to start off
Went for 20 minute test ride & I’m HAPPY.
It’s definitely made a quick bike snappier.
But not light switch crazy.
Best way I could describe it is - like adding a couple of teeth to the rear sprocket but without loosing any top end speed.
Oh & I re-used the existing hand grip, wasn’t keen on the supplied replacements
Money well spent
On the road now, it’ll be quicker between corners for sure
