The truth behind the "Cblast" flash
12/05/16 3:44 PM

So I was having trouble setting my clock on my bike, and finally traced it to my flashed ecu. Swapping in a stock one allowed me full access to my settings page. I decided to run this by Nels at 2 wheel dyno works via FB messenger because as some may know this guy was mentioned by Cblast multiple times as the guy he worked with developing it. Turns out I learned a great deal about Sebastion, and it wasn't good at all. In fact it was down right shameful. In the intrest of leaving nothing out, Im posting screenshots.

Yep. I had Nels perform my "C-Blast" flash back in the day, since he and Sebastian were initially partnered. I sort of watched this whole debacle unfold.

Nels told me the same information. I even tried to get Sebastian to contact him, to no avail. If you guys knew Nels, you'd know how much more insulting Sebastian's actions are. Nels would give you the shirt off his back, and bends over backwards to make every accommodation for his customers.

Sebastian always struck me as a decent guy, and very friendly. It's unfortunate that something like this has happened.

To be clear, I think the majority of the Cblast flashes that were performed by Nels turned out fine. Once Sebastian took the equipment and decided to start working independently of Nels I believe the real issues began to occur.

Finally someone has the cojones to speak up and expose this fraudster.

Sorry to hear he stole Nel's laptop, all his flash files and took credit for Nel's expertise and hard work. What a scumbag thief.

Back in 2013, some of us knew this guy was a fraud. I remember reading when he was praising Roman's flash, and on his way to send Roman's his ECU to get his done. A couple of months later he reappears insulting, trashing Roman's flash expertise, and promoting his own flash. It is all documented in Roman's flash thread. I was hoping to put the entire story together and expose this con artist, so I saved screenshots of his comments posted in Roman's flash thread.

Too bad that a couple of forum members enabled this guy, they are complicit of his con job. (and if you guys are reading this, you know who you are) They both mailed him their Brock's and Roman's flash so he could duplicate and create his "famous" flash. They also help him to peddle his fraudulent con job in various motorcycle forums.

I knew he was a fraud, but could not expose him since I only had parts of the story. I contacted those who I thought knew the entire story, but they were reluctant to share what they knew. This is the reason I kept away from the forum for an entire year, it made me sick to see how many people were taken by his scam.

I commend you for sharing the truth, this fraudster is finally exposed.

I have no dog in this fight, but spoke with Nels last week (whilst he flashed my FZ-10) about this very subject. He told me pretty much the same story, and I do believe him. Nels is a very stand up guy, much respect to him for all he does for us adrenaline junkies

Weird how Sebastian ghosted, he quit texting with me and stopped returning my calls long ago. We had hung out a bit, I had been over to his house & met his family (cool peeps BTW) - we even went on a mini road trip and had a f'n awesome time. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the dude, but I guess you never really know someone...

I highly recommend Nels, I have seen his work multiple times and he is an absolute rock star in what he does He is the kind of guy that we need to support for sure!

I suppose this situation is akin to lancing a boil. It's good that it's out in the open and at some point we can all grow from the experience. Some folks are reputable, some not so much. So, to that end, and in the spirit of openness, I'd like to ask a few questions pertaining to the Cblast/Nels ECU flashes and the inability of some of them to adjust the bike's clock while, according to what has been written here, other folks have settable clocks driven by a ECU that has been flashed by the same vendor using (I assume) the same flashing equipment. The question is - why do some work and some not? In my first posting on this thread I put forth the assumption (on my part) that the Cblast/Nels flash was performed using the Woolich ECU flashing hardware/software. Does anyone know if this is this correct? Nels? And, if so, how can this set of equipment sometimes perform properly and sometimes not? And even if the flashes are not being performed by the Woolich hardware/software the following question also presents itself.

Is there a possibility (full speculation here) that the flashing hardware/software sometimes performs inconsistently? Now, I've flashed lots of eeproms over a long career as an electrical engineer and with the "professional grade" equipment I have used there was in place elaborate checksum tests performed on the contents of the entire memory to ensure that only the changes desired were, in fact, burned into the memory. Any discrepancy necessitated a do over. Such things did happen, albeit rarely. I would think/hope that the equipment being used to reflash the eeproms in our ECU's treat them in a similar manner. Ya gotta get it right 'cause one bit out of place in the wrong place can turn the ECU into, what else, a brick :-) Or, to a lesser extent, ya can't set the clock.

I've thrown a bunch of stuff out here. I sure would like to hear people's thoughts on the matter. Thanks.

Glad not everyone got burnt and glad I stuck with and recommended Romans and didn't chum up to much with C-blast. I started to lose some real faith when a guy from out of the USA got a C-blast flash for a Euro bike and C-blast couldn't figure out what the problem was with his non Euro flash. Any tuner knows the difference between a USA bike and a non USA bike. Well, hope Sebastian at least gives up and hands over anything he might have took. He's not doing well with it. I do like that he sat on the H2R at the exhibit that said "DO NOT TOUCH" but if that's as far as it went, I'd steer clear of an H2 flash made by C-blast.

If he's innocent, he should post up here and explain.

Now hold on, Kofla. Sebastian may have absconded with tune equipment and the initial ability to sell it, but the original Cblast flash was a legitimate product.

Sebastian was apprenticed under Nels, who was and still is a premier tuner. Nels has all of the software, hardware, and knowledge to fully develop tunes on his own. Sebastian worked with him in good faith, assisting him in the development of the flash tune. They used Nels' dyno and knowledge with Sebastian's bike to generate an all original tune.

I won't attempt to advocate for Sebastian... he's clearly made his bed. But please don't question the integrity of Nels and 2 Wheel Dynoworks. He works his ass off running an upstanding shop that doesn't deserve the terrible reputation that Sebastian has earned here.

RE: The truth behind the "Cblast" flash

Hey guys,
It was brought to my attention about the conversation on this forum. I understand now that Sebastian was using this forum to market ECU flashing. I want to start this by saying that Sebastian and I were very close. I had the utmost respect for him. He fought many tours for our country and risked his body and mind for all of us. He was shot and injured many times beyond what I could imagine. I have seen his scars but have no idea what he has truly been through. Not everyone has the ability to get along forever but I truly considered him a friend. Sometimes people take other paths that I don't agree with, buts that's life and we have to deal with it.

Here is the truth. I have a motorcycle dyno tuning shop in Kirkland Wa. I have 17 years of professional dyno tuning experience. I professionally tuned cars for 10 years before opening my own shop seven years ago. At that point I recognized my passion for motorcycles and decided to move forward with only bikes.

The first time I met Sebastian, he emailed me, asking to help him tune his bike. He explained to me that he wanted to reflash his ECU but not have a power commander. I had been using Woolich racing for years and was very comfortable with the software. He paid me full retail price to bring his bike down to my shop and build a custom tune file. He was in the dyno room taking pictures and watching the whole process. I have every dyno run saved by date and time. The entire tuning process is documented. He then went and rode the bike. He called me afterwards to say he was amazed and believes I have a mail-in marketable product.

From that point forward all of the ZX14s, that came in the shop, he would come by and take pictures. I always save my specific tunes files based on serial numbers and modifications. He started selling the flashes and we agreed on a 50/50 split. He would hand deliver every ECU to the shop. I would flash them and then he would return ship them to the customer. We had a very successful team and provided a very good product. The customers were happy and showing results. This lasted about three months. He was always very sharp, friendly, supportive and excited to continue building new tune files.

I have very high volume at the shop and usually average 10 custom tunes a day. He spent a lot of time hanging out at the shop. He then started completing some services like oil changes and exhaust installs. My goal was to put him on the full time payroll. It was a huge burden that he lived 1.5 hours away from the shop and the mail in flashes were really picking up. We were getting at least one a day. I spend at least eight hours a day on the dyno with my tuning laptop and it was holding us back from getting the mail-in flashes completed on time. I decided to purchase another laptop and tuning equipment set. At this point he had built a lot of trust. I let him take the laptop home to record real time data on the zetronics data logger and was starting to teach him to flash the ECUs with tune files I already built. That's how he ended up with my laptop.

It was about 18 months ago he disappeared. I couldn't get a hold of him for over a week. When I finally did, he said he was having some medial issues and had to have some surgeries. He also explained he had family medical issues. I felt horrible for him and gave him his space. I never heard from him again.

To clear up some of the questions and statements above...

-Sebastian did not steal anything from you. He sold you a great product.
-He did not steal the Brocks or Romans flash. I did all of the flashing and tune creating. I take pride in my work. I have all of the dyno graphs to prove it. I have over 60,000 dyno runs on 7500 bikes in the last 7 years.
-I do work with the Woolich racing software and have been with them since day 1. There has been some updates to the software and bugs fixed. Its possible some of the ECUs were flashed with old firmware, explaining the clock issue. They can be updated very easy. Its also possible Sebastian was making adjustments to the tune files I was not aware of.
-Its possible that some of your ECUs were flashed by me and some were flashed by Sebastian with my equipment. Im not exactly sure at what point he was not keeping me in the loop on the specifics of the flash volume. At the end I'm not sure what he was actually flashing the ECUs with. The last known ECU I was aware he flashed was in July of 2015. At that time, I think he was still using my tune files.
-I was notified this summer from Woolich that he was trying to transfer my tune files into his name and they got suspicious. They had already transferred the flash box over not knowing there was an issue. I tried to contact him again, I got no response.

The bottom line is that he did not steal from you. He stole from me. If some of you are having issues with the flash he gave you, I can help resolve them. From what I understand, He was not selling a stolen flash to anyone until after July of 2015 (my stolen flash). I don't believe anyone got "burnt" before that.

I know he was selling a great product and I would love to provide you guys with an updated/better product. Im not a supporting vendor on here but will hopefully be able to become one.

Im sorry for this drama.

Respectfully, Nels

please don't question the integrity of Nels and 2 Wheel Dynoworks. He works his ass off running an upstanding shop that doesn't deserve the perri reputation that Sebastian has earned here.

Some of us have been in this industry for a long time, word gets around. I've seen Nel's work, people have nothing but good things to say about his reputation. And in the few flash threads that I participated a couple of years ago when this fraud was promoting himself as the "best tuner", I always highlighted Nel's outstanding reputation. That is why it was surprising to find out Nel's was associated with such a fraud, now it turns out this fraud is also a thief. We always knew Cblast was a fraud, it is why some of the flash threads have the most heated discussions on this forum.

It is bad business to badmouth their competition, and belittle their work like Cblast did. It is unprofessional, and as some of us tried to point out to him, the person loses credibility.

Welcome to the forum Nel's. I am sorry to hear he stole from you, and used your credibility, reputation and expertise in the business to promote himself.

Jeez, what a mess.
There were so many that defended Sebastian and wouldn't hear a bad word against him or "his" product. Perhaps a re evaluation now?
Its so sad that a guy would stoop to these levels.
My only question is why? These types of issues will always be exposed down the line.
You can fool some of the people some of the time but...

Very interesting reading

To this point I have never divulged the name of the flasher that caused so much grief.
But seeing this is all now out on the table it was a Cblast flash.
Thanks to all on this forum whom I privately asked assistance from to resolve the issue without breaking the confidence.
Many people will ask why I did not advise this earlier to fore warn other potential flash considerers.
A fair question but the answer is simple. I can only judge people the way they treat me. Yes, there was a major issue with the flash Sebastian provided to my Australian spec'd bike. But after I advised how disappointed I was he provided me a full refund. As he did this (which I considered the right thing to do) I felt it would be unfair of me to bad mouth him. In the end, his product was not what he promised but he made good with the refund. Perhaps people will disagree with my reasoning but that is why I made the call that I did...

I was one of the first to ship Cblast my ecu, I have never had an issue with it. I am positive nels got his cut and it was a legitimate flash but nevertheless I am disgusted with Cblast's actions. I no longer run that flash since I had my bike dyno tuned and installed nitrous last winter. This just absolutely disgusts me how a person can feel justified to steal from a friend and use that to fuck over so many people, I was one of the lucky ones to receive a good flash. Eventually, as some of you may recall, I became suspicious of the Wolfman/Cblast camp and began to call them out on their bullshit, unfortunately I was wrong on which member was the real conman....

Welcome Nels,
I hope you do get on hear as a supporting member.

Nels did my tune and recommended slips to go with it back in 2015. I will hopefully be getting my bike in to him in a couple weeks to dyno it and see if he feels any changes are needed. I stop by his shop in Kirkland once in a while to say hi. He is deffinately always busy but doesn't hesitate to share his knowledge and willingness to help.
He is sharing space with OPRT which is a great rider training group that runs track days and a school here in the area.

Great people, very supportive. I would recommend business to both Nels @ 2wheeldynoworks.com and OPRT @ Optimum-performance.org

Lookin froward to next years riding season.

Dave

Everyone NOW is so quick to condemn, but I believe a possibility is being overlooked. Could it be ill effects from PTSD??? Maybe. Remember the service and wounds Nels described...I think it's a definite possibility. Something to think about.

Wonder if this explains why some of us noticed a difference in the pre- and post-flash'd ECU and Victhing did not? Is it possible Victhing's ECU was not flashed so he was comparing stock to stock ecu??

Nels could answere this and put an end to the "spirted" debate the thread caused among forum members....
