Hey guys,
It was brought to my attention about the conversation on this forum. I understand now that Sebastian was using this forum to market ECU flashing. I want to start this by saying that Sebastian and I were very close. I had the utmost respect for him. He fought many tours for our country and risked his body and mind for all of us. He was shot and injured many times beyond what I could imagine. I have seen his scars but have no idea what he has truly been through. Not everyone has the ability to get along forever but I truly considered him a friend. Sometimes people take other paths that I don't agree with, buts that's life and we have to deal with it.
Here is the truth. I have a motorcycle dyno tuning shop in Kirkland Wa. I have 17 years of professional dyno tuning experience. I professionally tuned cars for 10 years before opening my own shop seven years ago. At that point I recognized my passion for motorcycles and decided to move forward with only bikes.
The first time I met Sebastian, he emailed me, asking to help him tune his bike. He explained to me that he wanted to reflash his ECU but not have a power commander. I had been using Woolich racing for years and was very comfortable with the software. He paid me full retail price to bring his bike down to my shop and build a custom tune file. He was in the dyno room taking pictures and watching the whole process. I have every dyno run saved by date and time. The entire tuning process is documented. He then went and rode the bike. He called me afterwards to say he was amazed and believes I have a mail-in marketable product.
From that point forward all of the ZX14s, that came in the shop, he would come by and take pictures. I always save my specific tunes files based on serial numbers and modifications. He started selling the flashes and we agreed on a 50/50 split. He would hand deliver every ECU to the shop. I would flash them and then he would return ship them to the customer. We had a very successful team and provided a very good product. The customers were happy and showing results. This lasted about three months. He was always very sharp, friendly, supportive and excited to continue building new tune files.
I have very high volume at the shop and usually average 10 custom tunes a day. He spent a lot of time hanging out at the shop. He then started completing some services like oil changes and exhaust installs. My goal was to put him on the full time payroll. It was a huge burden that he lived 1.5 hours away from the shop and the mail in flashes were really picking up. We were getting at least one a day. I spend at least eight hours a day on the dyno with my tuning laptop and it was holding us back from getting the mail-in flashes completed on time. I decided to purchase another laptop and tuning equipment set. At this point he had built a lot of trust. I let him take the laptop home to record real time data on the zetronics data logger and was starting to teach him to flash the ECUs with tune files I already built. That's how he ended up with my laptop.
It was about 18 months ago he disappeared. I couldn't get a hold of him for over a week. When I finally did, he said he was having some medial issues and had to have some surgeries. He also explained he had family medical issues. I felt horrible for him and gave him his space. I never heard from him again.
To clear up some of the questions and statements above...
-Sebastian did not steal anything from you. He sold you a great product.
-He did not steal the Brocks or Romans flash. I did all of the flashing and tune creating. I take pride in my work. I have all of the dyno graphs to prove it. I have over 60,000 dyno runs on 7500 bikes in the last 7 years.
-I do work with the Woolich racing software and have been with them since day 1. There has been some updates to the software and bugs fixed. Its possible some of the ECUs were flashed with old firmware, explaining the clock issue. They can be updated very easy. Its also possible Sebastian was making adjustments to the tune files I was not aware of.
-Its possible that some of your ECUs were flashed by me and some were flashed by Sebastian with my equipment. Im not exactly sure at what point he was not keeping me in the loop on the specifics of the flash volume. At the end I'm not sure what he was actually flashing the ECUs with. The last known ECU I was aware he flashed was in July of 2015. At that time, I think he was still using my tune files.
-I was notified this summer from Woolich that he was trying to transfer my tune files into his name and they got suspicious. They had already transferred the flash box over not knowing there was an issue. I tried to contact him again, I got no response.
The bottom line is that he did not steal from you. He stole from me. If some of you are having issues with the flash he gave you, I can help resolve them. From what I understand, He was not selling a stolen flash to anyone until after July of 2015 (my stolen flash). I don't believe anyone got "burnt" before that.
I know he was selling a great product and I would love to provide you guys with an updated/better product. Im not a supporting vendor on here but will hopefully be able to become one.
Im sorry for this drama.
Respectfully, Nels
