Thanks, toad. I'll have to order one of those K-Factory sprockets for my busa BST. Too bad I already got the Vortex for the OEM busa wheel. It's nice to try something different every time I replace a part but I already had tried all the sprockets that come up when I do a google shopping search.

I had to open the thread, now yall have me thinking and drooling over carbon wheels, and a damn sprocket! Did not know there was a carbon sprocket. LOL

Hahaha , yes , Ron zxinit , there is always something wanted , not necessarily needed out there for our rides . Some of the more exotic components are so nice , you can certainly have a great time picking and choosing , till the tally up hits you where it hurts most ..... the hip pocket !!

I was advised when I first bought the Zed14 , that the Schnitz oil pump gear kit with billet plate and sump feed nozzle , as well as the Brocks real street HD clutch kit are known as a good upgrade for the bike . I invested in both for future drag etc. . The clutch becomes very heavy at the lever when fitted with the hd springs , the standard clutch master cylinder ratio is 19mm , so I chose a Brembo RCS17 clutch master , which works very well and reduces the heaviness a lot . The bike now has a beautiful hd gear drive noise at lower revs , and the clutch has only added to the already excellent design from Kawasaki .

Toad, gorgeous bikes! You might look at a MMCC (metal matrix ceramic composite) brake rotor to match that exotic new Ceracarbon sprocket! Brilotech makes a couple of lightweight rear rotors and lightened speed rings for the 14r. The Galfer rear rotor weighs about 950 grams vs the BriloTech at 575 grams for the standard version to 337 for the race version.

Thanks for the heads up CoolBrzBlu have you got a link for their selling site / store ? I would certainly like to look into that , those pieces will be great for reducing rotating mass . I am a bit obsessed about lightening the bike , both bikes for that matter , which often gives me cause to remember a funny observation / quote I have heard said by the famous Jay Leno . That is on ride days , he always has a bit of a chuckle , seeing the fat rider with his bike featuring full carbon bodywork etc. .... hahahah
Still I did mention obsession right ? , so ain't stopping just yet .

Just an update , got in contact with the lads at BriloTech , so all good , we are now in progress .

A couple of pics of the Ceracarbon sprocket on the ceramic bearing equipped big 6.625" BST .

That Ceracarbon sprocket looks great on that BST wheel.

I was advised when I first bought the Zed14 , that the Schnitz oil pump gear kit with billet plate and sump feed nozzle

I looked into the oil pump gear and the relief valve. The relief valve is good because it has a stiffer spring that will maintain a higher oil pressure at higher rpm where you need the extra oil circulation. At lower rpm, the valve doesn't do anything, it stays closed just like the OEM valve would. If I recall, the oil pressure measured at the location of the stock oil pressure sensor leveled off at 60 psi on my Gen1 and that was at a pretty low rpm. I remember a guy data logging the oil pressure at over 100 psi measured at the oil pressure test port on his Gen2 with HD pressure relief valve. The HD oil pump gear has more teeth and it uses more HP at all rpm to run it than the OEM gear. The OEM oil pump cover does't seal because it flexes even at moderate rpm. A guy told me he saw the oil come pouring out past the stock plate. With the clutch cover still removed, he primed his oil pump using a drill to turn the water pump (the water pump and oil pump turn under the same mechanism). I don't know how the drill compares to engine rpm but the stock oil pressure plate definitely reduces oil pressure. The billet oill pump cover is stiff so it doesn't flex and apparently, it holds the oil in. Not being equipped with an O-ring, I suspect even the billet oil pump covers leak a bit and unfortunately, the billet cover is heavier than the flimsy steel stock one. I haven't any knowledge of the oil aftermarket oil pickup nozzle but what all of the others I mentioned have in common is that they increase parasitic drag on the engine. I was advised to stay away from the high volume oil pump gear and stick with the high pressure relief valve and the billet plate. If I were running turbo, I'd data log the oil pressure and make a determination as to whether I need a high volume gear.

Do the CF rotors work well for ordinary braking or do they need to heat up to racing temps?

Hi Rook mate , yes , I too heard , there is known to be some seen hp loss , but the motor is said to be safer for it , for high rpm etc. . I was happy the new tune , on AU 98 octane pump gas ( = US 93 ) , made 204 bhp ,the motor is very impressive .
The disc rotor from BriloTech I am after is ceramic , so works from cold straight away , basically like normal stainless rotors . Supercars , such as Porsche , use them on their streetcars because it is the very best street setup .
Carbon / Carbon rotors however are a different breed altogether , they need to be shrouded , they need a very high heat start point , to then become the very best braking system , suitable for racing .

Almost 2 lbs lighter than a stock front rotor!! That's shocking! Apparently they've been tested but I would think ceramic would be one of the least durable materials to make a rotor from.

That is the rear pictured , the fronts are about 1kg each and US$1850 a set with pads ? I think . I also think Sicom are lighter but many more dollars . Best imho , and what I would truly love , is a set of Braketechs Ceramics , unavailable , because they cannot seem to remake the matrix , ever since the last batch many years ago .....

I would need to see exactly what they weigh. That's a lot of dough for shaving a few ounces but if you get improved braking, all the better!

Yes , not really interested in changing my monster 330mm Braketechs , for now anyway , they are a super powerful combination combined with the full Brembo setup . A bit heavy , yes , but blows my mind at how good my 2 streeters wash off speed .

Just knocking down the spam, toad. Damn we have more spam on this site. I dare say, spam makes up the majority of posts here. No complaints, we're fortunate to have the forum but the amount of spam is embarrassing.

No worries bro , yeah I seen some , even had a little fun on another section with a spam lady . So all good , probably won't interact no more then .
My city and whole state went into lockdown yesterday , 6.00pm , so I am shut in to a degree by that , and also not the best riding weather . I will see if I can sneak out one of the bikes for a traffic less ride , especially in the hills , so much fun without all the tintops . Hope you are healing well bro , been reading about your progress , takes awhile when you loose some bark , for it to grow back .

LOL I saw that. Some members used to reply to tell them to get stuffed and whatnot but I have never seen them answer. I think all they hope is that someone will click their links which is probably not a good idea.

Thanks for the well wishes, mate. I'm back to normal now. I'd like to ride but after that crash, I don't want to tempt fate by riding here anymore. Go out and do a couple wheelies for me!!

Wow, lockdown again! I have a hard time believing that could happen again but we will see. If you're doing it in Oz, there's a good chance we will again too. I actually enjoyed the seclusion of the lockdown that ended last year. I was fortunate that I was able to work from home so I could keep getting paid but if that were not the case, I'm sure I'd feel much differently.

All good bro's , the pull of that special motorcycle ride will bring most of us back , time and time again . We dust ourselves off , we access and mend our injuries . Then , accept our own mortality , mourn our pride and joys destruction.....After a time , we either plan our machines resurrection , or we say goodbye with regrets , and we move on to find that new love , and begin another intimate motorcycle affair .
Got a good feeling , it wont be too long till Rook is piloting his Busa once again , and after such rides , he will have plenty of positive time to layout his ZX14 plan of attack .

Definitely a period of mourning.Just seein yer baby crunched.I know that feeling.Takes time. But as Toad says...you have that awesome Busa. That's a most excellent bike.
I've had some VERY close calls with deer as ya know. Here it's a part of the riding risk.I escaped so far.It could happen any time though...they're all over the place.I see em close to road everytime I go out. When a deer crossing sign is there,I slow down and keep my eyes open and watch for any sign. They do have 'favorite' spots they cross.I try to pay attention to those.
Just don't give up on riding there.Just know when to say when.In time.Your time.
So glad you didn't get crunched as well.

Thanks fellas. Yeah, I'm sure I'll get a few rides on the busa before the season ends. I'm taking it slow and I will be wearing all gear even if I need to starve a few days to fit into those pants. My helmet needs to be replaced. I was thinking about getting one anyway, the Shoei I crashed with was 12 years old. I'm thinking Nexx X.WST 2 or Shoei X-14. After crashing in one and suffering no head injuries except probable minor concussion from getting knocked out, I have a lot of trust in Shoei and don't mind the extra $$.

There's still a few small jobs on the busa I need to finish. I have a new drive chain and sprockets to put on, a Ti countershaft sprocket nut, a set of raising links for the rear suspension, Ti engine mount and suspension bolts, aluminum rear axle nut, Ti adjuster bolts and a bunch of Pro-Bolts, of course. The 14 will likely be stripped down to the frame, perhaps even the engine will be removed. Wouldn't that be something? I could actually lift it up by hand! Before doing that, it's really about time I pull that crankshaft cover off and see if we have any dirt in there.

That is good advice Grn14 ,us riders all definitely have to watch out for animals on or near the road . Of course tree or bush lining the road , it becomes really impossible as we know , then add speed and ....well scary shit .
Messing around with your bike is just the most therapeutic enjoyment imho , and when you get things done to your satisfaction , you can go test her out or alternately , grab and ale and kickback while reviewing your handywork .

The prices aren't that bad on the Metal Matrix Ceramic Composite rotors compared to the sicom or braketech exotics. We can do custom dimensions, materials and colors (fastmile77@gmail.com).
