okay, i waited 6 months to buy this bike , i let everybody buy one mod them up . i also let all the tuning gurus work their magic and show us beyond a shadow of a doubt what these things make power wise bone stock. so i buy one after i see that they are as strong as they say they are . i put 400 miles on it only going to 4-5,000 rpms i ran it up to 7-9,000 rpms a few times closer to the 400 mile mark . and i change my oil today and i put a slip on dual exhaust . i take it out today with 430 miles and fresh oil and im riding with my buddie one has a 2011 zx10r with a m4 slip on air filter and a guhls re-flashed ecu. we race 3 times and he walks me from 4th gear on by about 3 bikes, we both weigh within 5 lbs. of each other and we both can race a bike. i know the 10s with the guhls reflash are strong but jeez we raced 3 times from a second gear roll with almost the same outcome everytime. im just blown away that i cant take a 1441cc bike stock or not and get beat by a 998cc bike.

I'm sorry but I gotta ask the stupid question first: What power mode were you in?

The only we'll be able to tell is to have you buddy zx-10 and your 14R on the dyno.

It could be that the slip on are having a negative effect. I dunno.

Swap bikes and race again just to make sure we cover all the bases.

I agree. If you read some of these forums, many people like to brag about their dyno numbers and bike mods. On paper any given bike can show lots of power. Numbers don't mean anything unless you back it up at the track. Ever heard of the expression, “bet on the jockey, not the horse”?

i thought about switching bikes but i dunno if hed give my bike all its got especially if he started to pull on me hypothetically speaking , i would give his bike allits got just to see if it made a difference , i had it in full -[power mode with ktrac off . and the 14r has already proven itself at the track as well thats why i dropped $12,600 on a new one. i just sold a full akro exhaust pc3 ignition module filter and ivans map 06 zx14 with which i beat this same zx10r last summer by a couple bikes each time before he got the reflash on his ecu so i figure from my research he could have picked up 20hp in the upper rpm range from the re-flash soooooo the thing that bothers me the most is that i dont care about the 50 variables that could effect the race because even an average rider should be able to jump on a new 1441cc monster and outrun a bike with almost 450cc less , i understand my bike is alot heavier but im just saying from kawasakis perspective why make a huge cc hypersport bike that can be beat by a way smaller bike that costs way less . other than that i love my new 14r it out handles has waaay more mid range tq feels way tighter is easily as comfortable and looks way better than my old 14 :) i love the new bike and it is better in every way , and im gonna get the new alien head 2 full system from brocks and go up 2 teeth on the rear and wipe that zx10r off the map !!!!!!!! i just would have liked to have done it stock :)

Get used to it. That race I had many times with 1st gen. My results were the same as yours. Hard to get your head around I know. After that I got boost to even it up. Now he has boost, no winning, grrrrrr

NO way he should walk you up top for god sakes,thats where a 14 lives,i'm sorry sounds like rider error. My 14r has brocks exhaust and gearing,i put down on a stingy dyno,201hp and 117tq. I"ll race your friend and leave him for dead.

I hate to admit it but that video only confirms what I suspected some time ago. The 10R with it's vastly superior power/weight ratio flat out runs away and hides from the 14R in an acceleration contest such as this. It's only after the 10R hits its top speed either by gearing or electronic limitation that the 14R starts to make up any distance. What does the 10R end up pulling on the 14R before it hits top speed? Easily 5+ bikelengths but it appears to be much more than that. Someone go back and look at that vid again and tell me I'm wrong. There's a local gentleman that purchased a 2012 10R and it's flying with just bolt-ons. The 14R is probably superior from a dig but these roll races like this will be won by the 10R a vast majority of the time. And this from a 14, albeit old school version, owner.

i'm sorry sounds like rider error.

Very possible, that's why, like in the video, Us 14 guys will always keep trying lol. In the vid the 14R only got the ZX-10 when his bike topped out at 189mph, No ? Race, to me was over. Results same 2ND time.

Taller gears for the 10 and lower for 14R would be fun to watch. Both had the ECU mod.

On the street very rare to show the great top End of the mighty 14. We just don't get a chance.

Equally modded and strapped down at the track tell a much diff story.

I"ll race your friend and leave him for dead.

Ouch, "dead" is a big word. Where do you live ? I'm in too, No playing Favorites lol.

I hope your not to heat broken like I was, hard to get your head around. I too refused to believe. Cheers.

Dog here has the 10 and the 14 as well. He will also tell you 10 is faster. Dog where you be ?

i understand my bike is alot heavier but im just saying from kawasakis perspective why make a huge cc hypersport bike that can be beat by a way smaller bike that costs way less .

, and im gonna get the new alien head 2 full system from brocks and go up 2 teeth on the rear and wipe that zx10r off the map !!!!!!!! i just would have liked to have done it stock :)

Pull the secondary throttle plates, you'll get em !!!!! 30 hp up the middle ???????

The 10 did NOT hit an electronic limiter. Just tops at 189 with that load and gearing. You would hear and see an electronic limiter in the vid.

I can't afford another bike right now but if I could, wouldn't be another hyperbike. I'm mainly a sport rider and a smaller bike just has what it takes to perform best under most conditions. ...and the smaller the better. You never slow down, nobody ever can catch you. I dream of doing 200 ort at least topping the bikes out at what ever speed they will do but after 5 years, still haven't tried that. Personally, I think 189 mph is plenty. If a cop comes after you, you prolly won't get in less trouble fore not hitting 200.

I told you guys a long time ago a ZX10R would blow the doors off any ZX14 in high speed roll ons and handling, and in fact anything short of drag strip runs.

I got enough hate for saying that but I was still right.

The ZX10R is a real homologated race bike, intended to reach 170+ on short straights and more on longer ones, while still being light enough and handling well enough that it can slow down fast enough at the markers and be thrown into a knee puck dragging turn, then accelerate like a banshee coming off the apex.

Thats what it was designed to do, and it does that.

The ZX14 was designed for drag strips and stoplights. Almost anywhere away from those two places, in the real world, the ZX10R is faster and quicker, and handles better.

Put the best of you on a road race track on a ZX14R and put an equal rider on a ZX10R and it will be no contest.

So use your drag strip boats for what they are designed for, and quit being envious of a real R bike.

I dream of doing 200 ort at least topping the bikes out at what ever speed they will do but after 5 years, still haven't tried that

Must go on the bucket list. She is light enough with all your mods, slam her down and go for it.

Guys relax,in the video the zx14 was STOCK. With full exhaust and some gearing are you kiddin me.The guy in the video has a worked zx10,iv'e seen his videos before and he says in the first part of the video he has to much to list. Verus a stock 14. Once you get full exhaust yo gain 13-15hp,and i lost over 30 of weight.Second with gearing,just a lil the power in a roll on is much better.So in the video he pulls a stock 14 with def.not as good as rider as the ten,by about 5-6 bikes,then the 14 comes around like nothing. How do you think the 14r would do with 30 less pounds and about 15hp more with some gearing. All im saying is mod for mod,forget about it.

Yeeesh... "Once you get full exhaust yo gain 13-15hp,and i lost over 30 of weight".IDK about 15HP...it could...but as for weight loss...no one believed me when I said....installing the Brock's CT single dropped my stock 14R from 584 full fuel to 500 dead on the nose with a half tank of fuel.Shorai battery.I'll say one thing...my bike certainly has no peroblem acellerating from any gear...or virtually any speed.I was looking at that video and listening to that 10 wind out.I'd have to say..with the right rider...on my bike...she could 'probably' keep up and overtake that 10 a lot sooner than what I saw.

Yes green14 i went from 185 stock to 201hp with brocks exhaust.

I love it that you only read half my sentence before making your point. My point was that the 10R had topped out speed wise before the 14R came around it. Hence the phrase "either by gearing or electronic limitation" meaning one or the other. Sorry, I thought I was pretty clear but it apparently became not so clear when someone's feelings got a tad hurt. Just my take. Sorry.

Someone take that same 10R and run away from it from the hit with a like modded 14R like it ran away from that stock 14R. Please. I want to see that race. It's going to take 240+ to the tire to do it though. Keep that in mind.

^^ I just wanted to point out that it was not an electronic limiter that was capping the 10's speed. Gearing maybe and prolly peak hp has a lot to do with it, i would think.

Guys relax,in the video the zx14 was STOCK.

Look guys the ZX10 is Garths bike .. It totally modded .. it's got everything including wheels , motor work ect ect .. Garths bike has been over 200 MPH many times .. Garth is 235 pounds and the zx14R rider was 260 pounds .. That ZX14R pulled that zx10 down and just ran away from him on the top end .. Lets take my ZX14R and do a roll on and see what happens .. Garth is one really nice guy and he would be the first to tell you what would happen if i raced his zx10 with my ZX14R ..He does this 9/10 racing every week , he know what is fast and what is not ..

6 gallons of fuel 42 pounds .. 2 gallons = 14 pounds ... - 32 pounds off for the CT exhaust swap ..

9 pounds from the battery swap .. That is a total of 69 pound weight loss ..Now add in mirrors, mud flap and rear pegs and a few other bits you are down to 500 pounds ..

Guys listen to smokin he knows more than ALL of us together. The zx10 was worked to the hilt,against a fat zx14 driver on a stock bike.I'm 170 i'll take that race all day,my 14 has alot more work than the guys 14 in that video.But belive what you want i guess.
