Where is the aforementioned video?

Edit: Nevermind, here it is ... looks like a traction control-halted mini wheelie:

Dude... It looks like you did a mini wheelie before the tires where square with each other...it's no wonder you jetted off in the wrong direction. Smh

I'm still waiting Vic. You were saying how easy it was to put a bone stock 14R in the 8s. Did everyone watch the vid with Kent giving it his best shot? Do you have all those names of the guys who have done it? Maybe all those videos since it's well documented?

Hub, you can explain this to them

You better hope someone saved that stock map. That was an impressive ECU. To me: It seems like you short shifted with a low rpm as you did the last gear. Mine does not have that type of wheelie up potential that low in rpm.

Looks to me like...he was on a kinda slick road surface to begin with.Throttled it,got a small traction lift intially(plus a wheel spin as well),got off the gas as soon as she started lifting.I don't detect any KTRC kicking in.Ktrc doesn't sound like that when it stops a power wheelie.Mine doesn't anyway. But mine does just as his did.Sometimes.Usually on a cold road or a slicker cement covered surface.I've had mine lift, then break loose(Ktrc off). When conditions were just right for that sort of thing.

I will say though,I can't remember it doing this with a stock ECU.Not on a dry grabby surface. Not sure the stock factory fueling and timing settings will allow this off a launch.Maybe.I suppose a dragger or someone could make it happen. But they're launching at well above 2K.

585 lbs(add operator) takes a minute to get moving;)Lower rpms just won't do it with a bike this heavy.I've tried.Several times.

I've done exactly as is shown in that video.Ktrc off.

I know this bike can spin the wheel in a wheelie.

I'm a bit surprised that some are saying it can't be done. That's one reason the KTRC is on there.I think even the owner's manual talks about this."How to ride the Motorcycle" section I believe. With a 'caution'.

Will it STAY in a wheely? No.

Not necessarily Grn. I have launched from an idle just goofing around and it ended up working out ok. Basically just locking the throttle wide open and clutch manipulation. KTRC completely OFF of course.

But yes, as a general rule of thumb we do launch at a higher RPM than 2k. I actually like the low 3k range.

Grn, there is a big difference between hazing the back tire, and flat out lighting it up. There's gonna be a slight amount of wheel spin under power as evident by how fast the rear wears. You need only turn on TC1 to prove that, but a very noticeable spin will not translate to the front going skyward. You need perfect, if not close to perfect traction for that to happen.

"and flat out lighting it up"...yup.You won't wheely doing this.Or even get close to doing this in a wheelstand.

Clearly the bike can't wheelie with loss of rear traction. In my case,I punched it in 1st at around 3k.The front started to lift, then the wheel spun.Course, when it did this,I closed the throttle not knowing what it would end up doing.KTRC off.It was very quick.Maybe a second or two.Had I stayed on the gas...it probably would have simply settled back down and maybe lofted again...IDK.Didn't want to get sideways, which it felt like it was heading towards.

Look guys. You know I love all you guys AND gals(?). You're all 14 owners, I'm a 14 owner. Quite honestly no one really seems to like 14 owners except each other (other forums are fairly hostile that I have a 14...one mention of it and they go ape shit "you're just trying to brag" and bullshit). WTF is there to dislike about any of you?

All I know is from time to time in various circumstances, roads, times of day, etc. my bike does this. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe there's something wrong. Maybe I've done some really right things with the bike. If you're willing to consider that everything I do is wrong, it's only fair to be as open minded about me doing this right.

Vic
We are all fans of the bike. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff on this forum. Some I get wrapped up in... Hard to see people's intentions behind the text and key board. I live near a friend here and he saw my playful post as anger. I like it better, if you ask me, when your humble and offer some insight from a respect position. NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL. Well maybe a few cats have aspects of the bike they really own. But at the end of the day, I bought the bike to motivate my recovery from heart surgery. I LOVE MY 14R and this forum, but sometimes we forget that writing stuff is quickly misinterpreted or we are attacked because we are not liked. Who knows. For me a turn off is arrogance, or the imposition of one opinion over another. I like to hear different perspectives, but I'd prefer an informed perspective. I also appreciate cats with a sense of humour. A local feller told me once I take shit too serious on the forum. And you know what, he is right. Lets not make it personal, lets share, and learn.
and if we can sneak in a few light hearted jokes … than all the better.

Wow it seems like I really hit the hornets nest with a stick with this thread. I just hope that people take the time to realize no one person's opinion is less valuable than anyone else here. Sometimes people don't realize how arrogant and nasty their words read in print. Some people here need to just chill and get over themselves. Life is too short to get all stressed over a message board. Let's just enjoy life, our board and our 14's !

Wolf....

What my main issue is internet people don't understand that I talk explicitly (lol not in the vulgar sense, but in the clarity sense). Most people then read way more into what I'm saying than I am, because that's what they are used to doing. Most of you communicate implicitly, so you read between the lines to understand things. With me, if you read between the lines we'll end up a couple of squalling, hissing cats fighting in the alley way.

I've tried to communicate this with you all before. But I just don't think you guys understand what it means, or you forget, or other things. So a lot like Hub, I am misunderstood and then feel misunderstood which leads to that circle-jerk frustration because I'm trying to do the best I can to help people understand what my original point was. But I just find myself in this endless circle-jerk macho contest thing.

I'm just as direct and explicit in real life. I think in person though my statements aren't so viewed as arrogant or challenging (machismo bullshit) as far as clear and enlightened. But this is an internet forum, it's only worth so much for me to put some great amount of effort to try altering my communications.

But here's another issue. Instead of you asking me "Vic, i'm not sure what you mean?" YOu say "Vic, you're statements are arrogant and challenging my manhood". Fuck it, I'll go there right? I don't give a fuck. Describing myself as a K9, I'm a APBT.

So here's what I suggest. There's a thing called Internet etiquette. This IE takes into account some of what I'm typing here, that people are fairly easily misunderstood. Maybe everyone here, myself, you, Hub, Grn, instead of just busting out with stuff about "you don't know what you're talking about" either make an attempt to understand better or just let the issue lay, ignore it, and move on.

I'm light hearted. People describe me as having a good personality and being funny. But my humor is probably more slapstick than verbal.

That's all I can say. If you don't understand this (what's being written here), tell me what you don't understand. That's why Hub and I had such an extremely difficult time communicating. I could not understand what he was saying, and kept asking Hub to be clearer and clearer and he would just dive more deeply into his method of communicating and I just found it to be extremely insulting and condescending. What Hub and I worked out was, I think Hub realized this and I notice generally when he's dealing with me he does try to be a little more clear. At the same time, I honor him. We were talking about his ideas on ECUs. As it turned out, I couldn't understand what he was conveying, and he couldn't make it any more clear for me (nor my understandings for him). No big deal, we agreed we're both smart people with valuable skills and knowledge and walked away from it.

I think you are stark mad. Look dude. I will spell it out. We are all well educated, well read and highly intelligent people. We understand the explicit stuff. There is no implicit crap. This is an online community. We've been here a long time. Because we have and read each other, there is a history we are all aware of. Ie the Internet conflicts people have had, the gains people made and the loss people experienced. I've read stuff about folks who celebrate milestones and share it here. Along you came 8 months ago and you started to behave like you own the place, ie your voice was loudest. You're not misunderstood you've been a hot head. It's not your opinions that bug people, it's your reaction to..when they are not agreed upon or challenged. H U M B L E, RESPECTFUL always goes far here. You don't have to man hug, but there are guys here with 10 000 plus posts, I'm talking with tutorials and helpful posts, that would not publicly swear at or disrespect. You have clearly shown the opposite with 800 posts. That my friend is why you get push back and not because your misunderstood.

Look you mean well, you ride a 14r and if you showed up at my place I'd offer you a beer and invite you in! So take the above as constructive feedback or forum etiquette. I'm glad you're here. Hope this does not start a back and forth barrage between us.

Wolf out
