Well I did do a short 20 minute ride yesterday. A lot of things have changed since the last time I rode the bike, so its kinda hard to pin point what made the differences I notice most.
Biggest thing I notice being more of kneedragger type of rider, the nose feels heavy. Almost like I lowered the bike, and the front was put 1/2 inch too low. Checked tire pressure when I got home, and it was about 31, I normally run 35, so that could be a little of it. Also, its now stretched, so that makes the front heavier, probably most of it. But stretching also raised the tail up, so the front is a little lower. So I might try raising the front up about 1/2inch. But I have feeling most of the heavy nose issue, is because its stretched.
Right now, Im trying to stay out of boost, and staying low in the rpms. So from going from a -1 front to a +1 front sprocket, and then now being stretched, it feels very calm and smooth. My buddy thats also a bigger guy like me, was on his stock 08 ZX14 was following me in case anything happened. There was one time during the ride, I dropped down to 3rd gear which brought me to about a little over 4k rpms, so I roll on it, dont hit 1/2 throttle, but still hit about 2-3lbs of boost, take that up about 2k more rpms, then let off. Very smooth, rolled out pretty nice. But with it being stretched, +1 front, stiffer rear spring, the whole experience was very calm, and didnt "feel" that fast, mind you Im paying attention to RPMS and not MPH. Get back to the house and my buddy asks how much boost and how much throttle I hit, I say about 2-3lbs, and not 1/2 throttle, and hes shocked. He said he was in 4th, and when I rolled on it, he went Wide open, and I was leaving him, so he went to 3rd, and then he was pacing me but not catching me, and then I let off. So while to me, it felt slow, and not exciting, Im also use to nitrous having that hard hit, the tail sinking down really far, and the front trying to wheelie like crazy. This was so calm and smooth, it just felt slow.
That being said, I bet when Im doing full boost, and full rpms, its still going to be a crazy fast bike. I told my buddy at the time, its like racing a 10 second cadillac compared to a 10 second civic.
As far as boost is concerned, he said he was getting into boost well under 4000 rpms, probably all the head work helped lower how soon it gets into boost. I havent tested that myself. But normal riding, stop light to stop light, it felt great. Once its fully tuned I can give you a better impression of how it comes on to boost, and more about its daily ridability, and if it feels sluggish down low or not.
