Well now the fun begins. I predict that Trump supporters will be more pissed at him than we are soon.
The Wall? Ain't gonna happen. Repeal ACA? not that easy.
Throw out all the immigrants? Not likely. Bring manufacturing back? No way Jose.
Stop and Frisk? Riots in the streets.
Supreme Court? I hope the Dems give the republicans the same treatment, refuse to seat anyone for years.
Personally I hope he Makes America Great Again, at least the stock market, my 401 k depends on it.
However I suspect he won't even make his full term. He'll do something that will cause impeachment.

On one hand I'm glad to be done with the last 8 years of shit ... lies, abuse of executive orders, divisiveness, taxes, nat'l debt, should-be-illegal laws (ACA), ramming things thru on partisan lines ... all the crap I felt very sure would happen when he was originally elected. In the beginning I could only hope that he would turn out to be a great leader, but no, not even close. A real turd. I'd argue that Obama was like a kid given the keys to a sports car: He was too immature to handle it, floored it, abused it, and eventually broke it. Had he just been a little more moderate, and used a little less FORCE, voters might've thought the idea of 4 more years via Clinton would be OK. But no he hammered the throttle. It took a while to break, but he did it.

Then, on the other hand, I'm annoyed ... that this country allowed that crap to happen for EIGHT flippin years before realizing it sucked ... and now kinda annoyed again that the best we repubs could come up with is Trump. I will repeat, though, still better than Hellary. She's lost, and I STILL wanna call her names.

Now we can only hope again that Trump and his all-Republican Congress actually do some good.

Mad - If Obama didn't get impeached, I don't see it happening to Trump.

How could dems in Congress POSSIBLY go against any Trump exec orders, knowing all those they supported Obama doing??

Anyway, now we wait and see.

I'm watching the stock market ... got some cash ready to buy in if it goes down big today

Try 16. The economy tanked in 2001 during Bush Jr and things have sucked ass ever since. I'm completely willingto shake things up and shake them good.

Great way to look at it. Trump would highly approve! Saw the market plummeted last night as Trump was winning. Good buys if you are lucky to have cash. DO IT!!

As I mention previously, so close from retirement, how the stock market reacts to his victory frighten me. If the economy collapses, democrats, independents, republicans, everyone will suffer equally.

But hey, your wishes have come true. Republicans now control the Presidency, the Senate and the House. Now your candidate has the power to fulfill his campaign promises.

He has no excuse to deliver them, good luck with that.

By the way, the person in charge of Tic Tac Trump transition team, three of his top staff members were convicted in the GW bridge scandal last week.

Tic Tac Trump might have won the election, but now more than ever his business connections will be under the microscope. Eventually, before the next election, he will have to release his tax records. And the Trump University federal investigation is due in court soon.

This could well be the best reality TV ever, directly from the White House.

Kofla - Who did your retirement planning? If done properly you should not being worrying about who's in the White House.

If the economy collapses, democrats, independents, republicans, everyone will suffer equally.

There will surely be some economic dips, as there always are, but every capable person should consider taking responsibility themselves and be prepared for those dips.

But hey, your wishes have come true. Republicans now control the Presidency, the Senate and the House. Now your candidate has the power to fulfill his campaign promises.

Agree with all that ... and yet ... I'm STILL glad we didn't get Hellary.

I now have some hope, however reserved ... hope that something will change ... that the rudder of our Titanic country will be steered one way or the other instead of continuing directly at the iceberg.

From the late 90's or ~2000, to ~2006 was the housing boom ... unless that missed your area? That era seemed OK economically, however unsustainable.

I'm completely willingto shake things up and shake them good.

Likewise.

Sorry Extrapolator, you have for sure gone off the deep end. If you think Obama was a douche I can't wait to hear you sing the praises for your boy Drumph. He has more skeletons in his closet than the entire Clinton, Bush and Romney families combined. Try to put your obvious prejudices aside for one minute and look at facts.

Yeah but the stock market nose dived right after the twin towers attack and it never came back until 10 years later. I invested a month before the crash and I lost a pile of money. The job market is still crap but it was ok before 9-11.

You must be misunderstanding me: BOTH are douches. I'm just ready to try a different douche, the one who at least 'seems' aligned with my sensibilities of fairness, personal responsibility, personal independence, smaller govt, anti-socialism, hopefully anti-executive-order ... one who doesn't ram thru a 100% partisan, communist 'affordable' care act that requires me to purchase something.

Trump may ram thru partisan mandates, too, yet to be seen ... but why would I wanna go with a party I KNOW will do it, when there's a chance the other party won't.

Rook - I've read a lot about stock market investing, and some common themes are: 1) Only put in money that you won't need for 5 to 10 years (day trading & short-term trading is a fool's game); 2) A solid plan involves not a one-time large investment but many smaller, consistent, regularly scheduled investments that remove emotion from the equation ... such as $100/ mo every single month on the same day regardless of whether the stock market seems to be "high" or "low", or "seems" to be heading up or down. If you had followed this type of plan the money you put in a month after the crash would be up significantly now ... I know that's been 15 years, BUT all of your other $100 additional monthly investments you would've made over that whole time frame from late '01 to about '10 would also be way up, some waaaay up. The Dow ranged from a high of about 16K during that period to a low on March 9, 2009 of 6,547. So if you had been lucky enough to buy $100 worth of a Dow index fund's shares on 3/9/09, with the Dow at 18.5K today that money would be worth almost triple.

This is the way I do it. I certainly understand not everybody is fanatically into it like I am

Kofla you've fooled yourself. The economy? It's being propped up by insane amount of injection of borrowed money. How could a trillion a year in increased debt have resulted in 2.9% GDP growth? HOW? How is GDP growth with a trillion in debt spent every year

Basically, if the Federal government wasn't borrowing money that I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY BACK (NOT YOU) at the rate of A TRILLION DOLLARS the DJIO would probably be about 4-6k anyway.

As far as creating an envirtonment in the US this is NOT as difficult as it seems. Money will put money where it sees a return. Give business incentive to manufacture and create jobs here, they will do it. They follow the dollar. Right now, those dollars are outside our country. This isn't a 180, probably only a 20-30. It's a small shift in economic factors and very possible.

Keep in mind GLOBALIST are the ones that have created the economic climate that makes it so difficult for employers in the US. I mean, just look at what HR departments have to go through these days to meet federal guidelines and other bullshit.

Yeah but when you see it drop by a third and doesn't come back 3 years in a row?? My advisor was not the best but he was not the only one saying "pull your money out now". It was being predicted that a market correction could take 20 years to happen. I guess I may have left it in but I was not the only one making the decisions about (our) my money at that time. So some of the remaining 2/3 went on the house (and some IDK what happened to it). I got half the house so it was a net loss of 66% for me. But i got a bike out of the deal and I turned around and bought another a while after the divorce settlement!

And lets get one thing correct; Its not Hillary for Prison 2016, it's gonna be at least 2017 after Obama and Lynch are gone and Rudy Giuliani is the AG.

If our dear leader does pardon her, its an admission of her guilt and will be the single thing history will remember about the community organizer from Chi Town while he wasted 8 yrs as president and I dont think his Amazon wife will allow that. She is probably beating the shit out of him tonight just because she can.

I truly hope the Clintons crawl back into the swamp never to be seen again!

Not me, I just die or go into a nursing home. That's how it was back in the day and I liked it. Of course I would like to have insurance if I could afford it but I'm going to die no matter how much insurance I have so far as I'm concerned, might as well play the odds while the odds are good.

The left wants to treat healthcare as not a commodity but a right ... which is bad enough, because that's at least socialism if not communism ... but then they even took that too far by making it not only a right for citizens but also for anybody else who might be here, legal or not.

And then they realized that the real forward vision is to eliminate this whole "in the country legally vs illegally" thing and just open the borders, quit policing it, let illegals stay here free of consequences ... and hey even better, let's just do globalization ... no more fences at all ... no more borders ... we all get along perfectly, so no need for that silly stuff.

And then hey let's bald faced lie about how much this will cost. Let's tell everybody there will be no cost increases! And what the heck ... while we're lying ... Suuuuuuure you can keep your doctor.

I think the last 8 years have proven that that policy is more expensive than the voters are willing to pay, and so the voters voted accordingly ... which is to say NOT for some fantastic guy, buy for the guy that seems least likely to continue us down the undesirable, unsustainable path we're on.

The bottom line is, some people get sick and die. No wait, we all do. Some sooner than later. It's never pretty, and sometimes it's downright ugly. But that's life.

In my opinion, as much as people want change from the establishment, without his signature issues, the call for the “great impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful” wall, and banning Muslims from entering the U.S. Tic Tac Trump would’ve never made it out of the primaries.

I was checking out his website this morning, the link to his Muslim proposal statement on “Preventing Muslim Immigration” in which he called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States" completely disappeared from his website.

And today I've read Majority Leader Mitch McConnell response to Trump's proposal of six-year limit for members of the House and 12-year limit for senators:

"Mitch McConnell said: " Trump's drain the swamp term-limits vow going nowhere in the senate”

Lots of his supporters will be pissed off when they realize there isn’t going to be a “great 'impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful” wall built. Many will be disappointed when they realize he is just another corrupt politician, who would tell his supporters what they want to hear just to get elected.

It won’t be long before white supremacists start protesting, burning crosses in front of the White House lawn.

.

Donald Trump’s ‘big, beautiful wall’ may end up just being a modest, double-layered fence :

President-elect Donald Trump once said, “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border.” But it turns out that glorious promise may wind up being a modest fence.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are hoping to discuss an alternative border plan with Trump once his transition team is firmly set in place, Reuters reports.

It could prove to be the first advance that House Republicans make in defusing the quixotic rhetoric from Trump’s lengthy campaign.

On Wednesday, just a day after Trump won the White House, congressional aides told Reuters that they plan on discussing a less costly option to Trump’s grand — and expensive — wall.

Their plan includes more border fencing and increased patrol via federal agents, many of whom are a part of a labor union which backed Trump’s bid for the presidency.

A double-layered fence would hypothetically be laid across the nearly 2,000-mile border. This contrasts Trump’s vision of a tall, impenetrable, brick-and-mortar wall.

A House Republican aide and an official from the Department of Homeland Security maintained that a wall is not practical, for it would reduce visibility for those patrolling the border, and it would have to be erected on rough terrain, even bodies of water and private land.

According to the Reuters report, immigration law expert Steve Legomsky believes that Congress will not fund a vast wall, but to save face, the new president and congressional leaders may agree to extend the existing fence.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell underscored the importance of border security on Wednesday, saying that they’ll achieve it “in whatever way is the most effective,” Reuters reports.

If white supremacists burn crosses on the white house lawn or anywhere else they should be shot.

I would be surprised if Trump does not;
A. Close the border to stop drugs and illegal entry then
B. Build a border wall - he's way to committed not to and I'm sure he already wants a 2nd term and last
C. Lock her up!

I've always been sceptical about the wall. We'll see if it happens. Theres still an entire ocean people could raft over on and drug dealers would only be slowed down. I think tougher penalties for crossing the border illegally would be a lot easier and cheaper and I imagine that will have to happen in conjunction with the wall anyway.

Great Wall of America won't happen, I think. Besides, just like Rook says, I doubt its effectiveness and ROI. Tougher penalty would be better. I am always wondering why humanitarian people protect illegals. They break the law and it means they are criminals. My Chinese friend was deported because he had stayed after his visa expired. Why only people from Mexico are treated differently?

Trump may not be the next president anyway. There will be another vote in December and if Trump loses there, Clinton still has a chance. US will lose credibility big time if it happens, though. All of allies already see Trump as the next president.

You guys that think that health care should be optional are living with your heads in the sand. For every citizen who pays taxes it SHOULD be a right. Rook you may choose to die, we'll see if you stick to that if there comes a time when it's staring you in the face. But before you get to do that, your illness will most likely drain every cent and every asset you have, possibly your families as well. What is it with this attitude of " I've got mine, fuck you" that a lot of you have??? The days of the rugged frontiersman carving out his existence on the prairie are OVER. And if this kind of thing is an example of good old American Capitalism. I'll take a good helping of Democratic Socialism, thank you.
I just want you people with so much selfishness in your hearts to pay attention to what Emperor, I mean President Trump does to YOU in the middle class. My bet is you won't be so happy in a few years.
