Zx14R full exhaust rant!!!
04/22/13 6:35 AM

This is just a fun lil rant im not going after anyone just stating a point. Now alot of us on this forum used to have the gen1 zx14, then when the new 14r came out we jumped on the new one right. Why, well because it was more powerfull right? Dont u dare say because it handled better either because the last 14 handle just fine for our skill level on the street. We all heard how more powerfull and BADASS the new 14r was and being men we said ohhhhh I need the 14r. Now hear is my rant. So you will buy a brand new bike that lists for over 14000 because it has 15-20 hp more, but when it comes to exhaust you wont spend 600-700 more on a 14000 dollar bike to unleash.......15 hp more. Now dont u dare say it has more than enough horsepower now, because your gen1 had more than enough also. If you bought this bike to ride the most powerfull sportbike ever (which you did....come on admit it) just spend a lil more to get the best. You realize that full exhaust doesn't add anything to your bike it just unleashes whats already there thats buried my the stock exhaust and slipons. And for you guys that bought the zx14r as your first ninja were definitely buying it because you saw EVERYWHERE that its the most POWERFULL AND FASTEST bike on the planet and the caveman in you needed it. So please if your going to spend that much money on a bike for its power and 15-20hp more than your old 14, spend a lil more TO GET 15 HP MORE.Rant over. And spelling mistakes is because im on a smartphone at work and its typing for me!!!!!!

Just read on another 14 site that a guy and his friend who both have brand new 14r went on a 200 mile ride this weekend. The guy writing the thread has a full brocks ct exhaust like mine with the brock map and flash. And the other guy had 2 brothers slip on exhaust. And he couldn't believe the difference in their bikes. That what im trying to tell you guys. You may have bought a 14r but unless you unleash the power all the way and lose 35 lbs you dont really have all of the 14r to its fullest. The top exhaust guys..brocks, muzzy, akra, who ever you use they dont add anything to your bike at all, they just bring out its full potential. And isn't that why you bought this bike was for the best in the market???? Well dammit USE IT WILL YOU!!!!!!!! LOVE JOHN!!!!........PS not to sound like an ass but I see to many guys on this Site that went out an bought a Ferrari of a bike and are talking about putting on these no name garbage exhausts. And its killin me.

Yoshi silencers and that's as far as I go away from OEM.

I changed the final drive ratio and my TC computer hates it.

Damn, you nailed me with this rant...

I did buy the 14R for the exact reasons you said. Although I'm super impressed by it, I can tell it isn't all there. I've only had it for a week, so my break-in miles aren't all in yet (@890 today) I've already priced Ivan's Performance Package with the Yoshimura R77 system, but I've been uncommitted to spending the $1,700. I've driven mid-9 seconds in the quarter mile in a car @ 148 mph, and I'm looking forward to getting near that on a fairly stock bike. Honestly, to get that level in a car today would be close to $100K (if you do it right), to get that on a bike I just paid $12K for is amazing.

So looks like I'll be getting the Visa card out and calling Ivan's...

Thanks for the kick in the ass.

Hey hagrid I told u how to fix that with 16-43 gearing. When u try it I want a big fat kiss from u!!!! And ranger good for you my friend. Ivan knows his shit and you will not be disappointed. Let us know how you make out with it. And guys let me put it another way for the guys that came from a gen1 14. On that bike you probably had slipons too right? So now u upgraded to the new 14r because you heard all about the new power. So you spent well over 10000 to get this bike and if you spend under 2000 more you'll have at LEAST 30 hp more at least. Now thats a friggin upgrade my friends.

I bought the zx because it was a price point below the bmw s1300. Plus the bmv was aging and was likely nearing the end of its production cycle. With some new tweaks, I thought I'd look at her. Sat on her and was immediately convinced - ergos, took her out, she felt tame. Cranked her past 6000rpm and wrote the cheque.

FYI there are about 15 motorcycles on the market, that match or exceed the 14"s most powerful claim.

On a final point I too am very happy with my slip on Yosh system...

Racer thanks for the rant and yah, we are unleashing what's already there dude.

I have felt bikes both more and less powerful than my 14r go though that transformation from stock to slip-ons, to a full system mapped and tuned properly. I totally hear your point about if you are gonna be a bear, be a grizzly! I'm with ya. Just for me this time with this bike, I am enjoying the slow transformation. I also do think that this bike stock is a huge leap ahead in terms of handling for any bike this size. I rode the whole category before buying this one and this things chassis is flawless! I love this machine! There will come a day when she sits in my garage done to the nuts. I know that. I am really enjoying the journey!

15 motorcycles.....nope.You said match or exceed in Power and your wrong. Any dyno in any magzine will tell you we are the most powerfull. Hell on my dyno mine put out 201hp and the closest wss a WORKED OVER
bmw 1000rr and it put out 194hp. Where the heck are you getting the number 15?????? The bmw is right with us the new ducati 1199 turned out to be a turd in power and the zx 10 is right behind us in power with the ecu flashed thsts it for a stock bike. Again I dont know where your getting 15 but I can tell you your dead wrong. Go ask any race bike forum with some of the best racers on the planet and they will back me 100 percent. Go ask them I'll wait for your answer.

And cblast you said you felt a STOCK bike with more power than the 14r go thru the transformation of stock to full exhaust. If you don't mind me asking which STOCK bike had more power or even compared to the torque and power of your stock 14r. Because me and the media never rode that one or had it on ANY dyno. Just curious. And before anyone answers me back about this do me one favor. Go to google go to youtube go ANYWHERE and every group that has EVER......EVER tested the new 14r says........ITS THE MOST POWERFULL BIKE AND FASTEST BIKE STOCK THEY EVER TESTED. Period. If you new to the 14 or kawi brand learn all there is about the bike you ride. I get a lil crazy because you guys sound like people I run into at gas stations and tell me oh noooooi I heard the busa is still much much faster. And they dont even own a bike. And some of you OWN THE BIKE and sound like them!!!!!!! All in fun love again. ........JOHN

Well...I'm 59 yrs old...I've had my wrecks on these big bikes...yess...I don't intend to have another one anytime soon.Pumping up this bike is...well...IMO....a risky thing to do.It already makes me want to carve faster, cruise faster, risk more.Don't get me wrong...I love this thing...BUT...it's a street bike(for me)....not a track monster or drag bike out here.I got my first one because of all the above.I ripped and railed for 10K miles.Full system...PCV'd...ECU flashed...all that.It was 'fun'....ya...fun has a price on the street anyway.I feel differently now about my new 14R...more "relaxed' I guess you could say.I love the stock power and rideability of this model....that's why I got another one, instead of something else.Trackking or dragging is one thing...staying alive to ride again is another...on the street that is;)

IMO...this bike is WAY ahead of my 07 in every way. That's why I 'trusted' getting my first 14R...I wasn't disappointed for sure;)The ABS just puts the icing on the cake for me....probably would have made all the difference with my first(RIP) one.

Very well put green. I can't say there's one thing wrong with what you just said. Thats how I feel as well...........but goddam I went out and got every last bit of power even though I only use 40 percent of it on the street!!!!! Maybe im the dummy!!!!!!!!! My next rant will be about us guys buying full exhausts and wasting money on power we don't use on the streets! !!!!!

Yeah...I see nothing weird about a guy wanting every last HP number and all that....I get it.I just feel somewhat different this time around.I wanted the best...but also I want to live a bit longer as well...for me...having those mods and all...I was just too unrestrained...it's hard to have it,and not push things. If you're willing I guess to really romp...you have to take risks...this bike will take you there...for sure.I love this bird.

This is just a fun lil rant im not going after anyone just stating a point.

You are a dramaqueen and a troublemaker troll. The reason why you are here stirring the shit is because Bikeland banned your ass. Your histrionic personality disorder crazy insulting behavior does not allow you to behave normally with other adults. It says a lot about you when you are banned from Bikeland, a site that strongly endorses free speech.

This is my last comment addressing you. Have fun ruining this forum.

Personally...I say...get the full system if that's what you want...I didn't 'regret' having the Brock's full single on mine...it pepped the manners up for sure.Good mods...any good system is a good mod if that's what ya want.I'm kinda in the mindset with another member here though....you start modding..flashing,PCV...stuff like that...you CAN begin getting away from the factory qualities a bit at a time...which is why I got this bike to begin with...the factory qualities. But there's certainly nothing wrong with 'feeding the firebreather'...not at all.

Nope, not stock more power. My busa was an 06 ghost grey and black. At the end of her evolution I had a nice turbo setup that was consistent and reliable at 450hp which was my target for the build. Low compression pistons, bout 8lbs of boost and she was a madwoman! But again, the 14r stock puts the power down better than that old busa. Better than my duc. I spent an afternoon on an s1000rr. It was hella fast, hella mechanical, but no way did it drive off the corners with the torque of the 14r. No way. I had that bitch held wide open in 2nd at 9 on the apex of a corner I have ridden about 8000 times and the beemers traction control was stepping in to help a little in sport mode and the 14 just flat out pulls it every time in that corner. Of course not to say thats every corner or every rider but the 14 is the best roadbike that i have ever ridden. Stock gearing is excellent for a street bike. I dont have any stutters. none. My busa didn't drive off corners like this because of wheel slip. This bike with an aggressive rider in tc mode 1 can do stunning things, and the point a to b on road in the real world is unparalleled. Comfort. Technology. Power AND TORQUE. Refinement. Price. Etc.

Wow sorry you feel that way. I didn't think I was starting any trouble. If you read the post we are just bullshitting about a good topic. And to think I invited you out to go riding and to try out my bike. Oh well I guess instead of meeting me face to face to enjoy a ride together you'll just bash me over the internet. And im the troll right. I'm also done responding to your posts also so please keep off my threads if you have zero to add. Hahaha and im the trouble making troll.......really. Take care KOFLA.

You know...waking up not knowing where or what happened...I don't find that 'exciting' any more. There was a time when it was.I just want to enjoy my 14R now sanely...that's all....I was very fortunate I survived to ride again...very.But everyone has their reasons for riding...I don't judge anyone for what they like(within reason;) ).This bike can pretty much do it all...that's for sure.

Yeah zx, but, (I am enjoying this conversation!), this bike is so far beyond that busa. The busa was only so much. A technological dead end. I could only put so much lipstick on that pig! :)))) the duc though. Well, she is art.

I was at work last week...and there's this 'new guy' working in another department. We got to talking...turns out he was driving the same road I was when I had my wreck in Sept last year.He said he was one of the first responders to the scene(there were four ambulances there). He didn't know it was me...still had my helmet on.But he said he for sure thought I was dead the way they were 'handling' me.He started getting a tear in his eye as he told me this.It was kinda shocking really...He said I was kinda down in this slope where the rock walls jut out. From the road...you couldn't really see there was a wreck...but the road was blocked off for miles...cops waving traffic through and all that.He WAS stunned when I said...."I wrecked out there'..."that WAS you' he said.....then told me the story.I'm lucky.Very.

I've always said..."she'll accelerate a lot faster than she'll stop!";)Great brakes or no...you can't outtride physicsLOL!!!

Wow, Kofla... calm down. Seems like you're the one on this thread stirring up shit. If you don't want to participate in the thread, don't. Hopefully you aren't planning on trolling every thread that ZX starts or posts to, that will get old quick. Please just ignore him so we don't all have to read your drama.

Grn14, I totally understand wanting a bike to just ride and enjoy, I have a VFR for that. It's a really great bike and does almost everything that I want. It will remain my primary bike/commuter. I'm putting 600 miles per week on it just back and forth to work. However, it can't ever do what the 14R is capable of. When I am in the mood, or going to the track, I want the fully uncorked civilized beast that is the 14R with mods. If I only had the 14R, I'd be less likely to do all the performance mods because I wouldn't want or need 100% of the power available all the time.

Whichever way you go with the 14R, enjoy and respect it.

Cblast - SWEET 1098 !!! I've ridden a 748 and an ST2, I'd love to try something like yours...

Damn grn. I am really truly sorry to hear about that. I always try to mitigate my risk while riding and I am glad you are here to tell about it brother! My wife is a corpsman in the navy and has been doing that job for almost 18 yrs now. I was a young machine gunner in the corps when I met her and it was her know how and and professionalism and caregiving that drew me to her. Without people like your buddy and my wife a lot of good would be lost. Here's to you for surviving to ride another day, having the courage to do so in the manner to which you were intended, and to those that save us from ourselves everyday.

Dam cblast beautiful bike. I'm starting not to like you!! I hear you green in the past 7 months 2 guys I rode with both died when a car pulled out on each of them. It took awhile to start to want to ride again thats why I haven't posted in a long time. It screwed me up when driving in traffic. It made me wayyy to jittery. I no longer ride with anyone. I enjoy just cruising around earlier in the day on the weekends and then go home once the traffic is out. I love my 14r but if I didn't owe 9000 on it I might have sold it this winter.

And guys to be fair to kofla I was completely out of line last year on bikeland for sure. He was correct about what I was like. The problem was they got to going after me big time and I handled it like a child and when I read some of my old remarks im truly embarrassed by the way i responded. So I see his point completely. Just trying to move on and be myself. And why I get so pissed when guys like him keep going after me is it reminds me of my mistakes and being an complete asshole. So I understand where he's coming from.
