I can relate to shoulder injuries. Dovi is going to be hurting. Shit like that takes a year to heal. I'm up to 16 crashes so what I experienced; 'heal' never be the same. The broken boners around here know what I mean. Plus, he's senior #2. Your buddy is #1 LOL.
Except for chrly, I rode out to the race track a few weeks ago, came home and cooked it a little with an off ramp. It had signs with (32k)20 and (16k)10 miles for both hairpins. I haven't ridden for months and blew the tighter curve. I went straight, saw the marbles, and rear braked on the clean road. In other words, I was rusty.
Imagine the human mind getting back up to speed at this level. That kind of 'tone' you could feel, or at least I could feel a difference. I kept that level up, and raced weekend after the next. Join two clubs and they each have weekends on the track rentals, so you keep fit.
Fit for fit, push ups are one thing. This is going to be one head game of a race. You wonder where their heads are at, and if their handlers are telling them to pull the pin, or back off? Say they let the rider figure out the team wants to win, all that crap; so say each rider wants the win at all costs...
... Shit, now I forget. Maybe it's coming back, but I watched the seat changing go-round? Was it Miller who jumped right on the bike and performed? Now I can't remember the other bike, or the rider who struggled, and Miller made them look, well, I think Miller is young and hungry at 24. MM is 27 and at his prime. Lorenzo is past his prime. Dovi was the solid, dependable old pro from way back, and was not a crasher like your buddy.
Qman is still curving it, and far from his prime. Mentally, he seems snappy enough to be on the raggedge like a light switch. MM is more the crafty now. Kind of wonder if he runs away out of the gate or has the residuals to break his prime time. Just sits back and if honda still throws the code on the 11th lap ticking down to pull the pin, who knows?
Only qualifying knows for sure.
Just by memory, was the duc clocked at (349k)217 or (355k)221mph? That was last year. What's sitting in the pits now? Honda and yammie have to catch up or their riders push it making up the time, you'd think? Especially the long tracks. Dovi's a deep braker. That kind of combo would help Dovi, but not this season. Depends on the recovery window.
