Been busy, been riding, you know how it is. lol

I did take it to him a 2 days ago with no Fairings on it. He wants to go over the bike top to bottom, check the plugs, double check all gaskets, change the oil and run it through a filter, and so on. The next week is all high of upper 70s, its been in the high 90s for awhile, so it will be a good time to get it on the dyno in a little cooler weather.

Its fun, and ive been riding it a lot, just not finished yet. I keep trying to buy a used swingarm, but the last 2 guys have dissappeared when ive asked how to pay for it, then came back 5 days later to tell me its sold. Pisses me off. lol

Sorry, Still no final numbers only one roller is hooked up, so power is reading way wrong, I was only hitting like 175whp LOL the bike before me should be doing about 180 or so, was barley doing 100 LOL, but I did get it back after Jerry went over it again top to bottom, and I took out the 5.8psi spring, and put in the 8.5psi wastegate spring, I also took out the +1 front sprocket, and put the stock front sprocket back in as well. Then Jerry had it on the dyno just doing pulls with the wideband to clean up the tune a little further, Lets just say, its a whole new bike compared to a couple weeks ago.

Only current issue, If you take the filter off, and power goes way up, so before he spent a ton of time further on the tune. Since filter size is making such a huge difference on the tune, I ordered a bigger filter, instead of 3inch diameter and 5inchs long, its 4.5base tapering to 4 and still 5inchs long, and the top is also filtered instead of capped off. My rough online surface area calculators show this is roughly a 45% increase in surface area, so once it shows up, and his dyno is completely done being setup, ill go back for final numbers.

I also got pricing from a couple places on doing a full new swingarm. Will probably go 1-2 inchs shorter than what I am right now with extensions, nothing major. Right now my extensions max out at 9over, and im almost all the way out, and the arm ill order will max out at 8, and I plan to set it around 7over. I will probably order a new arm over the next couple weeks or so. Not a huge rush, but its the last part on the build I want to do. Everything else id like to do can wait until winter. New rotors, new pads, steel braided lines, and so on.

Old Filter:

New filter I just ordered:

Filter is huge part of it. I take mine off at idle and and you can here the change. I too looked for the filter that is not caped off but gave up as none fit my compressor OD. What is the ID and the K&N part # on the one you have shown ?

My turbo has a 62mm flange, so I just search all filters on K&N's website that are that size. The filters with the ends not capped off are called their X Stream (get it?...)

My new model I just ordered is the RX-4010. The kit came with the RU-0800, so I just used its dimensions to help me pic a new one.

My ID is 2 1/4 and yours just under 2 1/2. Sad to say they don't make one I could find for my smaller Turbo.

For some reason I thought your inlet ID would be much bigger. Is this the Garrett 2871 that you have ?

Yea, GT2871R. I think there are several sizes, and mines a .42 compressor, and .64 exhaust.

Whats yours in MM, 57?

Actually, looks like it doesnt matter, smallest Xstream I see is a 62mm. So your best bet would be bigger diameter or longer.

57mm it is. I may just go ahead and get the same one. 1/8 band to fill the 1/4 gap. thanks for pointing this out. I looked a long time ago then gave up. This must be fairly new I would think. Please show pic when installed.

Ill probably take the little yellow cap K&N logo thing off the end, looks cheezy in my opinion.

Well, due to me not planning properly, when I thought I need to trim 1/4 of an inch, It should of been total, not 1/4 of an inch all the way around, so the hole is a little bigger than I would like. I guess I could order a 5th airfilter thats even bigger to help fill the hole more. lol

Besides that, it doesnt really look like much bigger, at the base its 1inch bigger, and only 1/2inch bigger at the end, and obviously the end is now filtered so that helps too.

Hard to get a good pic, so I took a bunch. lol This is compared to the RU-0800 from K&N.

I didnt pay any labor costs besides Millennium redoing my block, so I dont really know.

From what I can see with a quick search about the ATP kit, is the stage 1 still uses a internal wastegate. Im not a huge fan of that, but it would still work just fine.

As far as the turbo kit goes, Im pretty sure my kit came with everything for it to work, but you normally have other stuff that you might as well do while you are in there. Like manual cam chain tensioner, I did swingarm extensions, new rear spring and so. But as far as the turbo kit goes, mine came with everything off the top of my head.

RE: My Turbo ZX-14 Build.

I used to work for him when he owned his own performance shop, but then I went back to doing car audio for a living. So I build all the custom systems and give him my cost on parts, and he does the same for me. I did a full system with custom box in his C6 Corvette, basic sub/amp setup in his tow truck, and I was going to do a full system in his SS Trailblazer. But he called it quits. So as a thank you, I surprised him with a basic amp/sub setup in the trailblazer. After the first 2 vehicles he started remodeling part of his house, and said dont worry about the trailblazer/maybe next year kind of thing, but I know he drives it the most, so I wanted him to at least have a basic setup, so I bought him one out of my pocket since I still feel I owe him a TON.

Bose and Monsoon systems in 4th Gen Camaros suck. I prefer to just pull out and rewire/redo the whole system at once.

Well, long story short, I put my 14 up for sale. I know Romans probably wants to hear the story, but it is, what it is. IF it sells, I plan to buy to a 12-13 ZX-14R, and set it up for touring.

The power of this bike is just ungodly, and fun as hell, dont get me wrong. But Id rather be on a backroad dragging knee, or doing weekend trips to the dragon or Push Mt.

Currently asking $11,000 obo, or trade for a ZX-14R (not green lol). Obviously I dont need to sell. So if the price isnt close to that, dont bother.

No, I never got final numbers.

I put my 14 up for sale.

Now there is a shocker ?

I know Romans probably wants to hear the story,

I do for sure.

The power of this bike is just ungodly, and fun as hell, dont get me wrong.

Nothing like a finally tuned boosted bike. Fun X 10.

But Id rather be on a backroad dragging knee, or doing weekend trips to the dragon or Push Mt.

Any chance for a second bike, Proper tool for carving ?

Yea, you know the back story more than anyone else. I might just tough things out for a couple months, and see if theres a way I can pull off a 2nd bike come spring time. That would be perfect scenario.

Short story:
Aug 1st I was 375lbs, 6 weeks later, im down to just under 350lbs now. Ive changed a lot in the last month, and even made a very small work out station at home. "If" I keep up with this(I hope I do), I want to put up a car port outside, and start parking one car outside. Then the 2nd half of the garage turn into a bigger gym. If that happens, then ill have room for multiple bikes in the garage.

But all that costs a lot of money. And one main issue in my life was as of April, I basically had no job, right when this project was supposed to be wrapping up. I still had a job, but worked anything from 0-15 hours a MONTH. Well as of 3 days ago, my co-worker got accepted for a transfer, so sometime soon, Ill be getting all his hours. So ill at least then be back up to a solid 25hours a week.

So my personality has been very Bi-polar the last couple months with everything going on. And when that happens, id rather just hop on a stock bike, with a quiet exhaust with sticky tires, and disappear for a weekend off in to the middle of nowhere on back roads.

Keeping the bike, and we are now actually selling the wifes Nissan Juke. So if you know of anybody looking for a 2011 AWD Juke, let me know. lol

One less car payment means $500 more a month to save towards a 2nd bike. lol

I've had a couple R1s and always loved them. But their seating position is way over the handlebars. I've rode A couple ZX10s and I remember them always feeling long like I sat back further. So I would like to test ride a ZX10 now that I'm more use to a ZX14.
