Roman's Flash.
08/08/13 7:56 PM

Okay....I need to be restrained here a bit....First off...if this motorcycle came like this from the factory...there'd be a lotta people in the hospital;)I can appreciate all that Momma Kaw integrated into this bike straight out the gate.

Secondly...Romes has hit this deal on the head....totally.This is my second 14R...actually...I can almost say...my 3rd.This ECU flash has upped the performance of this package WELL beyond the stock configuration. And you thought THAT was(is)most excellentLOL!

Seriously...the whole dynamic of this motorcycle has changed. It feels so much more.....powerful and quick. As hard as it is to get these flashes and mapping and such right to maintain factory ride quality.....Romans has dialed her in so well....it feels so right carving and powering and shifting...amazing really. The power/torque response of this 'new' engine....no idea it had this in it.I'm very happy.Well worth the time...which was amazingly fast actually. Two days there....flashed...and two days back. From Canada.

I kept the KTRC 'off'.For those who enjoy lofting and riding em out....you will love this.If you wish to spin yer tire...you will love this.If you want to carve and feel empowered...you will love this.I'm very glad this swingarm has been lengthened the 10mm's.;)That is all....for now Thanks bunches again Romes....you're a real pro..in every respect. 2013 ZX14R ABS

I hear ya man. Though at the moment I have to dig around & see why I have popping on deceleration..

Exhaust leak or map issue? not sure, what is sure is, its driving me nutz & I want it gone.

Hoping it will be a easy fix...

Now grn14 you posted first how great brocks flash was, then you got ivans flash and OH MY GOD THE HEAVENS OPENED UP. You wrote this long love letter about how ivans flash was like having sex with 3 super models at once (ok you didn't write that)!!!. But you swore you found absolute perfection, now this romans flash and again you wet the bed.............you see were I'm going with this yet? Don't get me wrong I've seen the charts and more important to me I talked personally to wolf who I trust, but everytime you get the new thing it's OMG!!! Kind of hard to put any faith in your opinions anymore really. What I don't get is you said you found your mecca in the ivans flash, you wrote in your OWN WORDS that it's simply flawless, yet you get ANOTHER flash???? Again hard to really believe your opinions anymore. If wolf didn't already tell me how good it was and I read this thread hiw AGAIN for the 3rd time you found utter perfection, I would just roll my eyes at your post. So now I guess ivans isn't that perfect anymore???? Found major flaws?? For an casual street rider your dam picky or really good to find all these flaws just cruising around the street. May I suggest it's probably the same effect doctors who have psych patients and they slowy change the medication to nothing but sugar pills but the patients think it's still working. To me I think you think whatever you get done next to your bike is going to be simply PERFECT. I just can't understand someone who spends over $400 on ivans flash and finds it perfect would just up and dump the flash for someone on the forums flash, thats why I'm writing this long reply. Just doesn't make sense to me, and seems like a waste of a lot of money to me. If I found a great flash that seemed perfect to me and spent $400 on I wouldn't fuck with it personally.

Aren't ivans and guhls flashes basically just rev limiter removal, fly opening and a little de accel pop removal? I'm not sure they do any timing adjustments. They encourage tuning through the PCV. I know romans built a little more into his base flash and had wolf do the AFR tuning thtough the PCV.

"Kind of hard to put any faith in your opinions anymore really."...okay...listen to Wolf then...forget my opinion...each flash has been a new experience. So what?I have an Ivan's flash as well....two in one ECU.Besides...I could care less whether I'm 'credible' or not.I give props where I feel props are due...And tell it how it is.I knew someone would chime in with this wet blanket....someone always does.No biggie to me....I'm happy.

Follow your reasoning...WHY would you get a 14R?Wasn't your 'other bike' the shit?If you were so stoked about your previous bike...why get another...a 14R no less? You see where I'm going with this...yes?

Do not get me wrong this has NOTHING to do with Romans flash at all. Im kind of pissed off at green right now. See he went on and on about how great ivans flash was and he got me to actually call ivans and almost spend another $425 to get rid of brocks flash and go with ivans. Thank god it was to much to justify at the time because now he is saying this flash is now OMG. That's my personal beef and trust issues with this guy. If Romans will allow me I will get his flash and give a non bullshit good review. About every aspect of it, smoothness, off and on throttle transactions and such.

RE: Roman's Flash.

Read my post again....I have TWO flashes. In one ECU.There is no longer an 'L' mode;)Both flashes are excellent....purpose built...kinda like....getting a swingarm extension....without the muss and fuss of removing anythingLOL!

"If Romans will allow me I will get his flash and give a non bullshit good review"...no offense...but why bother spending anything on something so...contradictory.I mean...Wolf said..."It's great"...Green said..."It's great"....yet One is credible, the other isn't.You gonna get pissed at Wolf as well?I mean...really...how do you KNOW which one of us is 'telling the truth'...LOL!!!

Which is a better fighter...the F-16,or the F-15?....they BOTH rock at what they do.....yes?

I've got the best of BOTH worlds...see what I mean? They ARE different flashes. Each has it goldmine. They both know their shit...I'll say that straight out.And I didn't go gaga over Brock/Guhls flash. It changed the character of the bike...yes...some want it that way...sa'll good.To each his own.Things have come a long way since the beginning of the 'Flash Wars'.And they'll still get better...you could live your entire life you know...waiting....

RE: Roman's Flash.

You don't have to do anything.Trust me(?).....the stock ECU is just fine.I still have one...I may or may not reinstall...meaning...I haven't gotten rid of it because 'I'm happy with these flashes'.No...I like the stock configuration as well. The main thing I was trying to convey was...these all have a particular place in MY 14R.It doesn't have to apply to anyone else's.When I 'pumped up' Brock's...at the time...it WAS a big change.Same with Ivan's...HOWEVER...the Ivan's flash is a far better deal performance wise(for what I wanted)than the Brock's.And so it is with Rome's flash....not 'better'...different.A good different.Different than Ivan's...if you do any of these flashes, you'll know what I'm saying.Romans knows how to flash this bird.Ivan knows how to flash this bird.

Comparing the two is not what I'm gonna do.Not here. It'll be taken out of context and turned into something ugly.I won't participate in that...period.

These are 'custom' flashes. My report(s) about these are my feelings...someone else may ride my bike..and not like it...doesn't invalidate anything.Or take away from the work Romes OR Ivan have done. They're both pros in my opinion...and their flashes prove that.

"now im a lil gun shy with your analysis"...okay...take Wolf's word for it then...we BOTH said the same thing.See...you have a choiceLOL!

I'll come to grn's defense. The example was how smooth the bike is? F-Off is ultra smooth. It could be smoother: eliminating the emissions plug-ins at the throttle bodies. But when grn says 'smooth' there was something there. I change modes all day long, but to run in FO, well, that and F1 are a little tricky to decipher, but seems FO does transish to being a bit smoother.

So yes he was right. Maybe you have to read in between the enthusiasm and subtle moves of the preset? To some it's a huge move. To others, it's digging for HP by moving the presets out of the way. To some there is this unexpected. To others there is to be expected: is the preset.

Thanks Hubster...anyone who's read any of my posts about performance 'upgrades' is gonna see that I'm excited about having 'new' things. It's really not either/or with me on this stuff...I DO get stoked when something makes me happy.Everyone pulls something different out of their riding experience. As it should be.Nothing stays the same...riding styles....go fast goodies....flashes...mapping.I'm gonna say how I feel...even if it's outdated in two months.

ZXRacer - u said - "If Romans will allow me I will get his flash and give a non bullshit good review. About every aspect of it, smoothness, off and on throttle transactions and such."

Are the rest of us who have his flash just simply ass hats who aren't credible to you. Does it take a real 'professional' like yourself to give the 'TRUE' review of the flash. Look - We've got it, we gave our reviews - make your decision based on it, or don't, but surely don't blame people for a decision you may or may not make based on their analysis. That's the chance you take with every performance mod you do. You are not the only authority here on the forum, and quite frankly, your comment above basically labelled me, Wolf, Grn and any one else including Romans as giving "bullshit reviews"

Believe me...and you guys who have the Romans' flash can attest to it....it's fun and exciting.I can't say every particular about how it feels...it feels good...in every aspect.

If this means anything...the bike feels as if it lost a huge amount of weight...it's handling better...it's driving better...the power build is linear yet stronger than any I've felt so far.The shifting is more clickish...as opposed to notchy. It honestly feels like a much lighter bike than it is...and is smoother than my stock ECU.It's very fun....I'm likin it totally.

Zx14beast do any if you guys read my posts?????? I was going after GREEN because of what he says about every flash being the best. I then preceded to say I do trust wolf's opinion, I never said anything about anyone else especially you. I never even saw your thread about his flash. So where the hell do you come off about going after me about going after you. I don't even know anything about YOU personal or ever had a conversation about you. Hell I didn't even know you had a flash. READ PEOPLE'S FULL POSTS before you spout off because everything you accused me of has zero merit. Jesus I posted twice this was about GREENS OPINIONS and nothing else. Read man read. And on a side note I pmed romans about his flash, but trust me I won't dare give my opinion now or again on this forums. If someone wants my opinion or question they can pm me. To touchy feelings anymore here for me. And people not actually reading what I'm writing...........MOVING ON

ZXRacer - Read man read - If you've read anything about the flash you will see my post about it too. Follow your own advice then. I'm not attacking you out of the blue, but just because someone is giving their opinion in the best way they can articulate it, don't accuse him/others as giving bullshit reviews. That's all I'm saying.

And this just wacked me square in the face. Can't believe I never really saw this. Were saying romans flash is incredible right?? But wolf stated the red line on the dyno ( the shitty one) had romans flash. Now the green lines we're still with his flash but with the dyno tuners magic touch (which was really really good) so my last question is pretty obvious right guys???? It looks to me thr TUNER made wolf's bike a beast, not really romans right?? I'm being very serious here, cant believe I never saw that. The red line was 25hp down with romans flash than the tuner gets in their and fixes it and WHAM hours later my man wolf has 25hp more thru out his rpms. Holy shit if im wrong please explain. Actually don't because the dyno sheet doesn't lie.
