That's the thing, Yannih...that is a comparison between Australia and the US. Was violent crime ever a large problem in Australia? The reasons are many but I see Australia as being a much kinder and gentler place to live than the US. Do you have large portions of your urban settings populated by people living in poverty, homelessness, drug trafficking, gang activity? Australia is a huge place but it does not share any borders with other countries. Many urban residential areas in the US, you wouldn't want to walk through if you didn't need to. I'm not saying you'd get shot but it is very likely you as an outsider would receive some disrespectful behavior. I know I have. Our country is a mess. Banning firearms won't fix it. I'd rather keep them.

Yannih, in the past 24 hours there have been 4 motorcycle/car collision fatalities near my home and all were the fault of the rider. Lets ban motorcycles, that will stop everyone from dying on them.

I usually avoid this type of thing but what the hell...I am a Class 7 FFL. That means I can manufacture and sell firearms. Any gun cannot kill without someone pulling the trigger. I agree it sucks that this happens. Would we ban cars because of deaths, people without licenses driving them? According to the law you should not drive without one. Same as any other rule, or law. It only works when everyone obeys. All any gun control changes will do , is assure that criminals will be the only ones possessing them. They do not give a damn. I also am a concealed carry permit holder, and this fact and the weapon I had saved my life. It prevented an attack by a drugged up dipshit, from doing me great harm or causing death.

Take the guns away, and there will still be mayhem. Make positive changes, and maybe there will be a little less. Lets not forget how the 2nd Amendment came to be...the British trying to force us to do what we did not want.

It would take a long time if it could happen. What is unusual is that we have this problem in the US and other countries seem to have far fewer incidences. What is it about the US that there are more people who decide they're going to go out and shoot a bunch of people? Odd thing about the case of school shootings is that it never seems to happen in the schools where poverty and crime are big issues in the community. It happens in schools within middle class communities. Do middle class students not know the reality of violence and so they are more likely to do it?
