I think we probably do tend to have a higher percentage of stressed out violent people ready to snap in the US than most other countries. They're going to snap whether guns are available or not. I'd rather keep the option to arm myself against the bad guys if we are living in an environment where bad guys are so common.

Green, I lived in Australia for 52 years and know it pretty intimately.
Yes, there is a concerning drug issue there but not to the extent that you say.
It certainly needs addressing and cannot be ignored but our biggest issue is alcohol abuse, especially in the outback aboriginal communities.
It is unfortunately driven by a culture that has existed since 1770.
