Walked into the dealership. A few porsches outside, two [used] when I walked on the floor. 2018 GT w/wing, 9k (14484.km) on the clock. Guy mentions a non-turbo and 'inline 4.' We started with me saying flat 6 and then admits he does not know. Then I ask why such low miles on these cars? He says that the porsche crowd are passionate and change up because they can, keep up with their friends, etc. I said where are the 2021? He says they are sold out.
So I said, you guys have to wipe this car down I go sit in it, right? He says yes. I wasn't going to go that far just for a little entertainment of sitting in it for 20 minutes. Sit in traffic with that seat and leg room, I don't know?
I'm telling him about the back and forth going on with the vette. With me making comment about these guys thrashing the cars and trading them in, I point out how the front disc is getting dished [breaks in and says, 'I see that'] and I point that out about that there is shit beating with that kind of low mileage... in so many words. Then asked about the cam tensioner in so many hours and I did not mention that specifically. He was not savvy on the product so I let that go when he brought up the warranty and mileage window it covers.
So I bring up trackday and he starts telling me how this is the better handler than any car for performance, and as he's saying that, he looks at the gap at the door to windshield and says, 'it's wrapped too.' Then I say 'more weight added?' He chuckles. I don't know if this car has a brake-bias-option, but the rear discs more looked hardly worn for the mileage... more the way the front should have looked if granny was the owner.
So I see the sticker of 189 US and I said I'd have to come back and get the kbb price, 'unless you want to make a screaming deal now?' That perked him up and he said, 'how much you offering?' So I come home, punch in 2018 and every porsche had a turbo but this car. KBB rang the bell at 192. A low of 160. For that kind of money I can buy 2 brand new vettes.
It was a stunning body line. Some years they hit on the mark, others they fucked up the rear or front end. This one is a keeper. So for the green to stop bleeding, it's for sure a lease for me. Pay full price and sell it in 3 years and have that cam about to be hour'd out from trackdays? I don't think so.
There is no way I'd pay over a hundred grand for a car to begin with. Not when I can 'wrap glass around my ass' for much less.
Yeah, looked at a beautiful beater today, yannhi, you, you, almost had me at hello!
